Well. Biz was right, again. Not sure how he does it ! Dad scored at the farm tonight. Can't even describe the emotions knowing he had my son with him, and I can't even imagine how he is/ was feeling. My son was all about it. He wanted to call me right away, and I couldn't control myself hearing him tell me "buck down daddy" Quickly threw some snow gear on my daughter and off we went, full recovery mode. I placed a trail cam on my property in Ohio back in mid October. I was there last week and checked the sd card.I had 770 pics but a lot was caused by high winds blowing branches.I a had pics of over a dozen bucks , some does, coyotes and a bob cat. here are some of the best pics.

Picked it up today, and I'm pretty happy with it! Como dipped with "oak - brush" for the thick nasties he died in. I'll get an old weathered board from the original farmhouse on the property. And come up with something unique for mounting. So that will tie him with the land he spent his life on.

So, the story behind the kill. I was walking along a creek when I crossed a single, large set of tracks heading west. I didn’t want to try and follow through the very thick brush so I looped around the brush lot and got in a tree stand on the other end of the brush by the corn field. Fifteen minutes later I spied him sneaking very slowly thru the brush. Ten minutes after that he had covered the last fifteen yards to reach the open hedgerow. At the shot he reared up on his hind legs, shook a few times and fell over dead. No track heart shot! He’s now hanging in my barn. A decent six point with nice long main beam.

I'm on my out for my last sit of the year, in my tower over my clover plot... The deer are working the acorns heavy on my oak flat, much more than the clover BUT the heated, enclosed stand is on the CLOVER field, so it's clover or nothing.....

Well if it is, venison is on the menu. Was a crazy walk in. Bumped three Deer, one which was a nice buck. Took a few more steps and the buck came back out feeding in front of me at 40 yds but no shot as he was facing head on. He was a medium 6 or small 8. I moved a little and he took off. Slowly started walking to my spot and some more deer. There were three doe crossing in front of me and I sent it and missed but it was right at about 100yds. My buddy then texts me and says he has two bucks sparring in front of him at a hundred yards. One minute later I hear boom. I get a text and it reads two bucks came up only one is heading back your way. Small scrub 6pt was the closest. Now to put some meat in my freezer. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Tapatalk

12/16: hunted 3N dark to dark, saw zero Deer. Checked cams midday and got a nice group of 1.5 bucks that seem to have made it through the season. One of the 4 cams is way off with date/time. All pics are past 2 weeks. The doe with 3 fawns are on cam several days on several cams. They were a group of five when I saw them in person to weeks ago so I’m thinking one of the does got shot and now it’s a group of four Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Been a while with no updates. My dad had to have hernia surgery, so he didn’t hunt the late season for a chance at a 2nd buck. I had a wedding last weekend, so couldn’t hunt. Hunt #61 and last of 2019. No deer seen. Hunted light to dark. Started on cornfield in 6S and ended on lease in 7F. Just to rub it in..... 1/8 mile down road big buck in church backyard and next field 12 deer out eating. Guess that's where they went. Never seen more than 4 in that field before. All chowing down. Had several chances so can't complain just didn't seal the deal. Bad timing all season it seemed. First time in 10 years not to fill a tag. Did pass a few as well. It's ok, not that depressed.... Had fun and had my opportunities. I was within 50 yards of the buck I wanted the most 2 times. Just at dark walking out. Saw a couple good ones just no shot. Damn does are harder to get than bucks for me it seems. Oh well onto next year. Let the prep and planning begin. Good thing I had my best season ever last year and have almost 3/4 of a deer in freezer yet. And a good season on the lake with a good stock of walleye fillets.

That bullet has been killing deer and other big game for going on 100 years...If it works, don't fix it... As much fun as it is for some of us gun nuts to discuss pros and cons of different bullets, it is mostly just splitting hairs....Apply most any modern bullet that is designed for medium or big game hunting to a vital spot on the animal, and you will have meat in short order..

It's just become too time consuming so I'm looking dump it and get something else.

Ready to miss with the yote rig. All sighted in. Weighs less than 7lbs unloaded. Tribute to Stormy. One shot zeroing where you aim at handwarmer, shoot them aim at warmer again and freeze frame and move crosshairs to first shot. Worked well. I shot a few extra but 7 shots total and last 3 destroyed warmer at 100. So when I miss it will be @TreeGuy ‘s fault not my equipment. Love this AR. My favorite.

I wear one around just because I like the style! If it gets me a deer, all the better. Although the captain's suit fits a bit better.

i did one once with a 2.5 yr old modest size buck. the skull size and width was big like a fully mature 4.5+ yr old skull. i had to be creative and taper the pedicles out to the edge of the skull at an angle. after 10 yrs of being kicked around where the cap meets the plastic is cracked. still secure and could easily be fixed though. it came out well. I'll try to dig up some pictures to post.

I don’t think they have recovered yet after that Ravens beat down. Last night was ugly win but a win . Steelers have a good D so it was nice to see us put up 17 against a strong Defense. Not sure who we will face come first round but I wouldn’t be upset if it was Baltimore. From what I hear our D would love another crack at Lamar especially now after playing against him not to long ago.

Quiet walk in. Not a fresh track to be seen. Hope that just means they are on the way . Sit for a few hours then go still hunt the little spot I saw buck on fri. Then sit til dark. Somewhere in there a deer could show up.

We ate Nov 2018 venison last night and today, and with proper handling, aging, packaging, and cooking... I honestly couldn’t tell any difference in taste from fresh venison.

Got the "perfect" tree today. Decorations tomorrow.
