22deg just started snowing, I don’t have any idea why I’m out here after Sunday’s slaughter but it’s the bottom of the 9th and I wouldn’t miss it! I think he was a bit misguided in his never ending quest for attention. And apparently he's still on a quest for more. Probably a very lonely man. Had he gone into the GTG that was going on, instead of taking pictures of members vehicles, he could have made some friends. Instead, he chose to ostracize himself. Why? He is the only one who can answer that. Not to mention, never adding one thing of any substance to this forum. I made a heartfelt, serious offer to have him come hunt one of our private properties. I know I could have put him on a deer. I felt maybe if someone showed him some kindness, maybe he would come around. I was wrong.

Heading out to the peninsula my buddy shot the 178” beast on. There’s been a stud ten pointer and a big seven bedding down there so I’m setting up where the cover pinches down and my buddy is on the opposite side where it funnels down to a oak ridge. I am willing to say its a breath of fresh air he isnt on here anymore. And am glad some people are willing to buy him a beer and meet up with him even though we all know he wont. Tried that before and look where it went. It got so i didnt even log on for a couple of weeks other than to see how people did in the field and update a journal. It seems like a weight was lifted from this forum to me. It just kept escallating and every topic was a arguing 12 year old mess. Off topic stuff is the best when its done lighthearted- this other crap was just disappointing. Just because someone hunts doesnt make them a great guy they are not one in the same. But it is the internet and stuff like this happens thats why i dont really use any other sites than this one. I have to be honest and say I dont miss his BS at all on every thread - calling out people and causing arguments to go on and on and on and on. And since the "Pheonix" has risen from the ashes - maybe he is reborn and has a new outlook. We shall see and hope so. So many great folks on here - I am always so glad i found this site and have met some great folks. But of course there are always some people that dont get along. It happens. But when its encompasses and overwhelms the whole site - I have to agree something had to be done. Even If it was temporary maybe a message of petty arguing just needs to stop. and to paraphrase one of my favorite quotes " I hunt because i love to ....not because I regard hunting as being so terribly important, but because I suspect that so many other concerns of men are equally unimportant and not nearly as much fun" when the site becomes too much that a person needs to argue and ride and start an argument on every topic and cannot control themselves to walk away from it I guess maybe it was time to show them they needed to. Cause once it isnt fun anymore I would be gone for sure. Just wanted to add - I actually blocked him 2 days before he got banned and I cant tell you how silly i felt to do that. But i also have to say I enjoyed the forum again. I can ignore a lot but so much to wade thru was just ridiculous. Self awareness is one of the most difficult things to do. I sure as hell have my faults - boy do i - but sometimes when everyone else is complaining its not everyone else and its time to look at yourself a little. OK nuff said Good luck "Pheonix"

Real question is what's the goal for being here? We all have to ask ourselves that. I first started here to learn about hunting. Then it was to talk about hunting since most of my friends don't hunt so they can't relate and share the bit of knowledge I do have with some of the newbies. I've even taken some of them out into the woods. Then as I met, shared a drink, and gone on a few hunts with the fellas here, it's for general chit chat with some of these people. But if you don't really talk about hunting...you're not sharing or contributing towards hunting...and when the metaphorical hand is presented to you, you refuse to shake it. So again, what do you get out of it? That's just my curiosity. Still, whatever you do is your business. It bother me none. I speed read the first sentence or so and then just scroll right by. You're free to post whatever you want. I'm free to not read it. Even Growie who use to annoy the heck out of me with her constantly using the first 3 words of her 1st sentence as the title when the rules specifically states that your title has to accurately describe the content didn't prevent me from maintaining a peaceful interaction with her.

I did get out this afternoon for a last run at it. I bumped a doe early and had no shot unfortunately. I was within 30 yards of it when she took off. I found her bed, looks like she was there all day. No deer this season for me, but I had a lot of great hunts and close encounters. Out of work and set up in stand by 12:30 for a last effort. I'm in the stand that I got the broken up 8Pt out of last year on the last day of ML at 4:20. Would be nice to have history repeat itself today. Good luck to all out there on this last day.

There lies the misconception.. that shot is not below the spine.. below the top of back but not spine. Actually above the spinal cord.. non lethal shot with a bow or crossbow.. often lethal with a gun due to the shock..

Well my season is most likely over today due to weather conditions tomorrow. But not a bad season I didnt get any deer but I had alot of fun time in the woods . Did get a little mad today .on way out of Stewart at 430 the field on the right here stands an 8 pointer close to the road walked away into the middle of the field with 6 does .acted like he had no more reasons to be scared . I placed a trail cam on my property in Ohio back in mid October. I was there last week and checked the sd card.I had 770 pics but a lot was caused by high winds blowing branches.I a had pics of over a dozen bucks , some does, coyotes and a bob cat. here are some of the best pics.

Good luck NFA...I never really felt any older at 50..But by 60 BIG difference...Even more so from 60 to 70.... Ten years ago I could still navigate hills, brush, streams no problem..Now I feel like a doddering old man... My only solace is that most of my friends the same age seem to have the same problem...Some a lot worse than me..

Closing out the year in the same stand I started it in on October 1st when it was 80 degrees out. I had one of those years when everything went my way. Now we have 9 months of planning and prepping. Looking forward to next year!

Glad to hear it and no problem! I started hunting with no one to really guide me but have lucked out since and found some great mentors. This forum gives me a way to try and pass some of that knowledge on and hopefully help put some meat in someones freezer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I haven’t heard any singing yet but I’m told she’s warming up. Gotta keep the faith and put in the time. Here’s hoping the deer cooperate for all of us.

There are 12 guys on the hunting lease I am on.....5 of them are like my brothers. We hunt by far the most, do the most work, have the most stands etc. The other 7 guys hunt a couple times a year at most. They help offset the cost and that is about it. If they are there or aren't there doesn't bother me either way. One or two of those 7 are a PIA. Doesn't mean we don't make it work. There are probably 20 guys on here that are obviously good friends or have become good friends because of this forum. On this forum I am like one of the 7 guys on my lease. (Hopefully not one of the PIA ones) Those 20 or so guys, also provide the most "work" on this site, answering questions, helping out new hunters, responding to posts looking to help others in anyway possible. Even very new posters get tons of responses to their questions about deer hunting from the core group. If it wasn't for them this forum wouldn't be what it is.... They just need to ignore the couple that are a PIA......I don't understand why people get their panties in a bunch of crap from someone you don't know on the internet.

I can bust balls with all you and certainly (and quite happily) take some busting in return. Partly because I respect what you all actually bring to the forum and how much many of you have helped me as i fumble through the outdoor world, that banter is welcome and enjoyable. However. I don’t readily take crap from random people who offer nothing. Reminds me of grade school and playing on the playground. I can talk crap about my little sister but if someone who I don’t know or don’t respect says the exact same thing about her, he’s getting laid out(not that would happen in this scenario- I’m not 12!). I also cannot pretend to want to buy him a beer or shake his hand. Life is too short to spend it with tedious people-I appreciate Storm/007/Phoenix for reminding me of that. Heading down to Bossier City Louisiana for a week to spend Christmas with my daughter. My son in law just asked me if I will be hunting with them... Oh hell yea I will! Wild pig and deer. Needless to say, I am super pumped for this trip! We will be hunting Bodcau WMA . Anyone here ever hunt in LA? I am super interested in hearing anything you have to say about it.

My biggest problem with him was there are many new people that come on here looking for information. He not only clouded up the good threads with junk posts but he would post up topics as either good practices or fact. His scope mounting thread comes to mind. New people in the sport or firearms use have a lot of misinformation to sort through but for the most part this site is pretty good at avoiding it.

Fellas. Threads like this are exactly why trolls come back. Negative attention is still attention. Just block him, or ignore him altogether. Once you stop feeding them they find another bridge to hide under.

by next season the game freezer will be empty of venison and will be taking reservations! lol Yeah def will be out to refill. Just one of those years. Ten years ago i didnt get a deer only because i didnt hunt. Only once in the last 10 years did i only get one and not 2-3. So be it. Im over it. lol now just need spring and some walleye fishing! Glad lots of folks did well here. Seems like it was a pretty good year for the forum. Wouldve liked to see @Cabin Fever bag one - I think he has as many hours in as i do.

Took some pictures just now. Sandable putty, screws, and white enamel paint. It wasnt that bad. Dried out and cracked a bit a decade later. Easy fix though if I was to display it. Wasnt big enough for a shoulder mount in my mind though. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
