Does it count if he drops them between the shot and when you start to field dress him? If so then I found my first set on the last day of rifle season.7 points

Picked the bow up on Saturday, and had a chance to shoot a little bit over the weekend. So far, I'm really liking it. I've got some "dialing-in" to do, but I'm looking forward to some warmer days to shoot!5 points

Took my youngest out for a still hunt today. Walk a bit, sit a bit. His first tine on a deer hunt. We saw 10 deer, including 2 bucks. He scared every single one. Never had such a good time hunting!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

Well yesterday wrapped up the 2019 Filed to Fork program for the Greater Rochester Branch. We held our Culinary Social and each mentor/instructor and participant were asked to bring a venison dish to pass. We started the day at about 1 pm with some cooking instruction. We covered different meat cuts and use and had a demonstration by Mo Tidball on making Venison Cutlets and meatloaf. I covered venison pressure canning and each participant that attended and some of our volunteers tried their had at preparing canes of venison to their own taste. We made enough that anyone attending the event was able to bring jars of canned venison home with them. (pic 2 and 3). At around 4 the rest of the gang showed up and we shared many laughs, some cold adult beverages and some great venison appetizers including smoked venison ham with a BBQ bourbon jalapeno drizzle, cheese trays, venison cutlets, stuffed venison peppers and pickled venison heart. Dinner was a combination of venison chili, venison kabobs, venison lasagna, a venison potato casserole, venison meatloaf and pulled venison. Each participant took the stage to share their hunting stories and it was great to hear the experiences they had went far beyond them actually taking a deer. I totally screwed up and forgot to bring the Branch Field to Fork cookbooks to hand out so those will be mailed and all of these recipes will be added to give out to next year's class. July will be here in a blink of an eye and we all look forward to another successful year in 2020. Thanks to all of you for following along and sharing in their journey.4 points

Likely fits a niche market of shooters or hunters who could do it themselves if they had the time, but don't. I never used to understand the high prices people pay for services or products that they could in turn do themselves at home for less. Then my career got going. And I understood. I use cell cams alot because I don't have the free time to glass every evening.3 points

Never got into fantasy too much, with the exception of the CONAN books and The Tolkien Trilogy.. I LOVED Ian Fleming's James Bond novels....Hate what Hollywood has done to them...They were truly excellent espionage tales and the first couple movies were pretty good, but when they started embellishing them with a bunch of high tech stuff I lost interest.. Hemmingway is awesome....My daughter gave me a first edition of " For Whom the Bell Tolls", which is my all time favorite novel...I re-read it very couple of years... That reminds me...I am due to read it again...3 points

I'm quite an avid reader, and I was curious what everyone around here is reading. Outside of Outdoor Life and Field and Stream, I like to read a lot of Fantasy (Game of Thrones), Stephen King, I'm a huge fan of the James Bond books, and Ernest Hemingway. Right now I'm reading "Nottingham" by Nathan Makaryk, which a great adult retelling of the Robin Hood story. Anyways, what are you reading?2 points

I probably have about a dozen going at any one time....I am currently reading to finish "Road to Huertgen", which is a world war 2 memoir, but I love historical fiction. The Dewey Lambert novels are great on the napoleanic naval battles, as are Patrick Obriens, but I also love travel adventure books, esp. motorcycle oriented, and historical adventure/ hunting books.2 points

Thanks Bob, for all you do, to have had another successful 2019 Field To Fork Program! Your hard work along with the other mentors, is evident in the smiles of the students. They are so lucky to have someone like you, an all around great guy, and outdoorsman! Here's to the 2020 edition of the FTFP being the best ever! You WNY guys got it going on!!!2 points

Most of the mag locks are a pin held in by a screw with epoxy over the screw head. You can assess how hard it is to remove the epoxy and then screw. hint - not very.2 points

I get close to 6 months out of my Spartans with Lithiums, and they send alot of pictures. The one thing you want to be aware of with Lithiums, is that the camera will generally show 100% battery life right up until they die. If you have a camera with Lithiums that shows less than full battery, my advice is to install new ones ASAP.2 points

Did it off of Charles Bridge in Prague, Czech Republic. Saw some panhandler was doing it there so I asked him if I could get a shot. Basically it's just a magnet tied to the end of a rope. Threw it as far out as we can and then pull it back. It similar to metal detecting but in the water. Pulled up all kinds of odds and ends. Difference is that it appears they put some kind of metal in the money there so some coins came up every once in a while which is what he was after. Tourist were throwing coins into the river and making wishes. This dude was taking their wishes for a pint of beer.2 points

1/2 gallon of water. 1 cup of Kosher salt, 1 cup of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of Pink curing salt #1, 3 crumbled bay leaves, 6 whole cloves, 3 tables spoons of ground black pepper Combine all ingredients and submerge up to a 4# roast in brine for 6-7 day in the refrigerator. (Personally next time II will back off the salt to about 2/3 of a cup and I did inject it since I only had 4 days to brine it). I'd like a touch less salt taste, but it was a nice contrast with the sweet spicy of the drizzle. Make sure the roast stay submerged. Remove and rinse the roast. pat dry and let it sit out until surface is tacky. Smoke at 180 degrees with a moderate heavy smoke using a water pan. I like maple or a fruit wood. not a hickory fan. Make sure the roast is least 4" above the water pan. smoke until the internal temp is 130 and then remove water pan and continue to cook until the internal reached 155 degrees. This is about the only time I ever go this high with venison. it really makes the texture very similar to an actual ham. Drizzle. This can be used as a glaze from the time you remove the water pan on. I like to let each person decide if they want to use it. 1 cup of favorite BBQ sauce ( I like Sweet Baby Rays) 2 table spoons of brown sugar 1/3 cup of favorite bourbon. ( I used Iron Smoke straight) 1/4 cup of Jalapeno juice Combine and stir until the grittiness of the sugar is dissolved. Slice across the grin of the roast and add the drizzle.1 point

Maybe so but it still plays a major role. Just ask the Washington Nationals. The only thing they did was let Harper go and got a new manager.1 point

They need to prove the ribbon cable will not cause a leak or destroy the cams. I did not like how they did not show it. Trail Lync did this during 2G days. It didn't stick. The other limiting factor is they cannot control the cam remotely. That becomes an issue - cam control remotely is the single biggest jump in cell cams since they were invented. Invariably, you need to change settings. W/O it, you'll need to visit cam and it'll happen at the worst possible time, as experience has taught me.1 point

couple other thoughts. Had the bills beaten the texans and somehow upset the chiefs, we'd have a home afc championship game. The city would have burned! also packers chiefs rematch for the 100 year anniversary would be pretty sweet.1 point

I have used my Garand M1 ( Springfield 1943 receiver) a few times preseason for several years...I reload 150 grain spitzer soft points ( currently Sierra Game Kings) with H4895, to duplicate ( or nearly duplicate) the load that the M1 was designed for.. I use the issue sights...I carried my 1938 Oberndorf K98K in Pa a few times years ago, but my with my old eyes the Mauser type open sights don't work well any more...No problem with the aperture sights on the M1...Yet... I do most of my hunting out of an enclosed tower blind, so I often have the Garand and one of my scoped rifles with me, with plans to use the M1 for closer shots and the scoped rifle for shots from 100-300 yards..Most of my shots from that blind are 150-200 yards, and so far I have only taken shot ( and killed one deer) with the M1... One of my hunting buddies intends to scope his M1 to use from my tower next season..I have not seen his setup yet, but I know it is one that does not require alteration of the rifle, which is good, because it is a beautiful Winchester, with all Winchester parts... Another buddy has several K 31s and he loves them...He is an excellent marksman and can consistently ring a 20 inch steel plate at 300 yards offhand with his K 31s..1 point
