  1. The return on investment in the QDMA banquet has been great. In addition to supporting a worthy cause and a great time, 3 guns in two years and a cooler plus some auction items have been wonderful. this years haul:

  2. Yup... getting bored so I got out for some exercise and fresh air. I shed hunted in erie county and was unsuccessful and finding a shed but finding this was well worth the adventure... This appears to be a 1946 REO Speedwagon, 1 1/2 ton, straight 6 gas. This is pure art to me. Hope you enjoy these pics..

  3. But the home office is now ready. Doubles as my hunting room but it’s quiet and will do. Grabbed a laptop and second monitor when I left my office today. First time having a euro mount in my “office.” We do what we must. With courts closed, and a directive to cease discovery, I am catching up on CLEs and answering questions from employers on how to deal with the new restrictions. Oh and still monitoring the very important HuntingNY forum.

  4. The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent virus threat and have therefore raised their threat level from “Miffed” to “Peeved.” Soon, though, level may be raised yet again to “Irritated” or even “A Bit Cross.” The English have not been “A Bit Cross” since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies nearly ran out. The virus has been re-categorized from “Tiresome” to “A Bloody Nuisance.” The last time the British issued a “Bloody Nuisance” warning level was in 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada. The Scots have raised their threat level from “Pissed Off” to “Let's Get the Bastard.” They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years. The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its alert level from “Run” to “Hide.” The only two higher levels in France are “Collaborate” and “Surrender.” The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability. Italy has increased the alert level from “Shout Loudly and Excitedly” to “Elaborate Military Posturing.” Two more levels remain: “Ineffective Combat Operations” and “Change Sides.” The Germans have increased their alert state from “Disdainful Arrogance” to “Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs.” They also have two higher levels: “Invade a Neighbour” and “Lose.” Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual; the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels. The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy. Australia, meanwhile, has raised its alert level from “No worries” to “She'll be alright, Mate.” Two more escalation levels remain: “Crikey! I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend!” and “The barbie is cancelled.” So far, no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level. The USA will think about it for 3 years until someone sneezes on them. The Russians have said “Its not us”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Looked for some snows today and didn’t find any. So headed to the range to put some rounds through my NULA. I really need to shake the dust off. Looks like I will have some time for this in the coming months. I also tried out a bunch of reloads my hunting buddy loaded up for me. A few Long overdue pictures for @Lawdwaz.

  14. There are many practical reason for having plenty of ammo. First, the government can shut down your ability to buy ammo at any time. Unless you have plenty in stock, you are out of the fight. Second, the price of ammo could increase tremendously in a SHTF situation. Third, if there is a total economic collapse, your dollars will be worthless and they won't buy more ammo. I saw a very prophetic bumper sticker a while back that said, "Ammo, the currency of the 21st Century!" It will turn out to be very true if the collapse comes. Everything will be on the barter system and ammo will be worth more than gold. Fourth, your tactical and shooting skills will not be as important as your understanding of the apocalyptic situation and how to survive it. Yes you will need to shoot well if you are forced to do so, but avoiding a fight will be more important. You do not want to find yourself in a tactical situation at all. It won't be about fighting as much as it will be about surviving. Lastly, your priorities should be knowing what the situation is and how to survive it, practicing your shooting skills for practical purposes and having enough ammo to survive a prolonged survival situation, even if it's used to get necessities like food, water or shelter. Even the most skilled tactical or military operator can be taken out by one well placed shot from a scoped bolt action deer rifle 100 yards away, when they don't see it coming. During WWII we gave the French resistance "Liberator" pistols, cheap single shot .45 ACP stamped metal arms (A gun to get a gun) for them to shoot Nazi's and take their better guns. They worked well. Anyone who thinks the apocalypse will be a run and gun shooting war, needs to study how these things have played out throughout history. It's all about survival, not shooting, and ammo will be a valuable commodity to have.

  31. I think I have MAYBE 50 rounds of .22 long rifle, that's it. Edit to add: I just looked, that box of .22's is half empty. On a brighter note I did find some round balls and patches for my flintlock. Now I have to source some 3F powder.........

  32. Part of the problem is following the mob. When u go to the store and see only three packs of toilet paper left you think .....oh I better buy them. Same as ammo. The 22 ammo shortage a while back was only a shortage brought on by people themselves. You go to the store and can't buy 22 ammo, the next time you go you will buy some cause there wasn't any last time etc. People think they won't be able to get it so buy it when they see it. It propogates itself.

  37. From what I can tell is the .458 shooting a 300g is nearly identical to the 300g federal trophy copper that I shoot now. Sounds impressive, but that’s not what I’m looking for right now. Sounds like the 6.8 is going to be the best bet.

  40. I did not recommend it. I simply noted that it falls in the same category as the 458 and 450 In terms of range and ballistics for deer hunting. As i said, it doesn’t interest me. It was really developed for use in an SBR or to shoot both suppressed and not suppressed from the same rifle

  41. Exactly. A self fulfilling prophecy. And even when you recognize it, it’s hard to resist. If I saw a big pack of TP on the shelves, I would probably buy it now since there is none in the stores. I don’t need any guns or ammo but it sure would be nice to be able to pick up the rifles I won if my background check ever goes through.
