Picked up a new Stoeger M3500 Turkey Gun last year, but was injured by a car while out on a walk, and couldn't put it through it's paces until this past week. Still on the mend with my left shoulder, but got the ok from my Doc for spring turkey this year!!! Here are a few pics of my new gun. Was using Winchester Longbeard's in the 3" shell with 1 7/8oz of #5's, and this pic was shot at 40 Yards off the bench at my gun club. Really like this gun a lot. best of luck to all the Gobbler chasers this season8 points

First time ever I asked a girl in a cat hat to spot me! Desperate times indeed! Not intended to diminish the seriousness of this situation, just a little levity.6 points

This has been talked about in DEC for a few years now. As some states already do the course online. So far they are not changing to that. In NY, you need to complete the online course, and then attend the eight hour hands on instruction, to be certified. Not saying this because I'm an instructor. But in every class I've been a part of, there are always a few that have never held a firearm, or have done so very little. Much less be shown how to safely handle one. The hands on field instructions, are a way to actually work with students, with live fire, and the many different aspects of safe firearm handling. And other aspects of hunting too, like tree stand safety, blood tracking, and transporting firearms safely. Most people on this forum are more than qualified to be a mentor to their sons, daughters or other young people. But there are some young people who have a strong interest in hunting or shooting, that don't have anyone close to them, to show them the safe way to get started. We do that, and many of us volunteer to take young people out with a parent or guardian, to get them going farther in the right direction.5 points

Hunkered down in and around the house today, so I got the Sous Vide going with a top round from a 2018 doe that was in the freezer. 9 hour bath, finished in a skillet, crusted with peppercorns. The absolute definition of tender. The American Haze was good too.5 points

Tell your friend thank you for working hard. The nurses and doctors are putting their lives on hold for this so everyone should be thanking them.5 points

I have been social isolating myself in the woods.. After covering dozens of miles this month I've finally found some good sign on some local public land. Good sign or bucks 2 1/2 or older are rare around here. Pics of a couple runs and the tree I've picked to sit in.4 points

With everything going on it was good to get a chance to clear my head and get a little group therapy. Try and get out if you can for a little of your own head clearing. I hope everyone is safe and healthy. Be good to each other.4 points

Thanks Danno, I still have my Winchester 1300, will never part with that gun. Most of the gang hangs out on Facebook nowadays. Good luck when you hook up with Chuck this year. I would like to make that trip someday myself. Was out for a walk with my Girlfriend and her dog last August and some idiot sideswiped with his right mirror while doing 40 mph!!! Sheared the mirror right off his car and it through me into the ditch. Got busted up good, back issues and a torn left rotator cuff which I had to have surgery on back in December, The jerk fled the scene, but got caught and was charged for leaving the scene of an accident. Cop told my girlfriend that I was very lucky that his mirror knocked me out of the way, because he was pulled a trailer that stuck out 18" on either side of his vehicle. Lucky to be alive!!!2 points

Another one opens! Since all barber shops are now closed. And I'm out of work. Welcome to.... "grampy's Barber Shop In The Barn"!! All welcome! Will accept beer and ammo for payment. We used to do our own years ago? Can shoot bow or any firearm out the back door, or from the loft! Out to 300 yards! Hunting, and fishing (lies) and or, conversations are always taking place! Have up to the shoulder, gutting gloves, and grain alcohol to keep everything clean! Specializing in buzzcut's and mohawk's. But will try anything requested once! Have chain oil, for that slicked back look! First customer, will be given beer, instead of having to pay with it. Just come on by! No appointment needed!2 points

If you are patient you can find some pretty nice Thompson Center items on ebay either a complete rifle or build one out of new parts or like new parts I put together a beautiful 45 cal Hawken a few years ago by purchasing a used stock which I refinished and put new furniture on and then found a brand new Green Mountain direct fit stainless barrel in 45 cal. She shoots like a dream. A word about Traditions, I bought the 32 cal Crockett Squirrel rifle a couple of years ago and the fit and finish is outstanding, I am more than happy with it and it shoots very well too. Al2 points
