This will go down as one of my all time favorite hunts. This Jake read the script perfectly. She was home showered and in bed by 7, now I’m out crawling around getting soaked! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk36 points

I got a last minute invite to hunt with a friend on his lease, which is PRIME turkey ground....It used to belong to my brother in law years ago... He had a blind set up on the end of a corn stubble field... ZERO roost gobbling, from a spot where on a decent morning you might hear 5 or six gobblers... After flydown, we started to hear a faint gobble now and then but distant enough that it was hard to tell even what direction it was in...I let my friend do all the calling, since it was his ground, and he was very good with mouth calls, pots and a box... Finally, we heard a gobble that sounded close enough to do business with.... Three longboards came in, and they all looked about the same size to me...He was busy filming the hunt, and when I dropped one, he could have easily killed another one, if he had his gun in his hand rather than the camera... 19 pounds, 10 inch beard, 1" spurs..A solid 3 year old and a nice way to get the pressure off early in the season.. 7:45 AM... I'm looking VERY much forward to hunting with Moog on MY ground in the morning, hoping to help him get his first gobbler..14 points

I fiddled with the pictures from this morning to get a picture lightened up enough to be able to even see the bird. For some reason my phone pics were coming out really dark for being g taken at 730 am. Sent from my SM-G930VL using Tapatalk14 points

I think laughter may have screwed up my hunt but it was totally worth it. Me and my long time buddy went out behind my house to a blind I built a long time ago. We snuck in ok and pretty quiet. We got in and sat in our fold out chairs. We heard his rip a little but figured it would be ok. After about a half an hour the bottom gave out and he went flying ass first through the chair and got stuck. I haven't laughed so much in a long time. Turns out there was a turkey roosted pretty close and I'm sure it was spooked by us as when it flew down it coasted out quite a ways and never made a peep.10 points

Well that sucked . Had a hen in the field for 2 hrs , she didn’t make a peep. One of these years we’ll hook up .9 points

Had 2 come in silent. Little stretch for daughters 20. ( 40 yards ) I passed with the 12 hoping they’d get closer. They walked off throwing one gobble.8 points

I'm 5 out of 6 for taking a new hunter out ( not a youth) and helping them get there first bird. This year I'm not as confident as other yrs. Not sure why? I know the birds are there. Maybe it's because it very well be the last turkey season on this property. It's sold and closing is end of May. Lots of history here. Nephew Mark took his last gobbler on this property before he past. His younger brother, Adam, took his first bird under the same tree with his brother's 870. Unfortunately, Adam passed too. Both of his sons took their first birds under the same tree with the same shotgun. I'm not sure why I'm not feeling confident this yr. I would rather have a new hunter take his first bird under Mark's tree, then me taking what might be my last chance to ever take a bird under that tree, let alone the property.7 points

Ended the day on an intense note. Ended up at a different piece and came across some hens with no boy friends. So we got back to the truck at 1145ish. It's a dead end road so we are just driving back get just about to the end and had one about blow our ear drums out gobbling next to the road. So I throw the truck in park grabbed my gear and jumped into the woods. This is 11:51 I remember because I told my brother we have 9mins. He hits his call and the turkey blows up while sitting next to the truck. Pops on top of the ridge 50yrds away then drops back down the way he came. So I snuck up to him as my brother called. Birds going nuts the whole time next thing I heard was a tap on my truck and my brother saying time was up. So I snuck back to the truck with the bird gobbling within 50yrds.3 points

Well I am not really sure what happened. Had that Tom in the field for at least an hour. Never would come closer than about 100-125 yds. Then he just ran out of here like a coyote was chasing him. Wondering if he caught glare of my binos. Oh well, 5 more hours to go. Time for a snack.2 points

When I posted I said it was probably an exaggeration, but to me it APPEARED to be four feet long... Of course, I happened to be taking a leak at the moment, and sighting the critter along the length of my penis, there may have been an issue of perspective...2 points
