Text book hunt this morning. Soft tree yelps in the early morning darkness. 3 gobbles from the treetops 100 yards away. 3 hens glide down and hit the ground. Hens slowly saunter and feed nearing my low pitched purrs with Tom following behind. Bang!

Action packed morning...

My day was just made! Saw a doe laying down about 150 yards away in the field. Then I noticed 2 very wet and wobbly fawns trying stand up! She's licking them and they are nursing too. Awesome sight! Well I remembered my nephews bear paws I buried 2 years ago , dug them up and found most if them should of dug them out last year..oh well been working on claws to make into keychain or necklaces.

First night out on chataqua yesterday. Fished from 9pm to midnight. Trolling 1.2-1.5mph in 8'-12' of water. My dad got one small walleye right away. I got my first of the year at about 10pm, 22". Then at 1040 i got the next one at 24". Brother lost one. Good night, first time running the boat with the kicker motor, everything worked well. Hoping for good weather for next weekend.

So I went back to where I first saw them this morning at about 11:00 and they were still where I first saw them....no response to any of my terrible calling! At 11:30 I said let me see if that are still there and sure enough they are ... They walked right past the tree I was hiding behind when I tried to jump them the first time and walk out of my life! Well I’m still stuck in Florida. Should get the go ahead from the doctor to leave in a week or so. Might make the last weekend. But nephew #2 scored this morning. Same area Roxbury Township 4P. This time private land. 37 yard shot with the 870 I gave him. Old school Remington #6 3 1-2” Nitro’s. So proud of these kids driving 4 hours from Long Island keeping up the traditions of the family. Hunting and fishing. True outdoorsmen.

Went for a hike today and came upon a bachelor group of 4 bucks, starting nubs for new antler growth for the season. Pretty cool!

Unfortunately vertical bowhunting is a dying sport. There really hasn’t been a huge advancement in bows in quite a few years. Not saying there wont be improvements , but as nyslowland pointed out the cost will dictate improvements. I’n my opinion top of the line bows are way overpriced now for the average guy that wants to bow hunt.

The trouble with most people moving to better states is, they bring their same dumb political ideas with them and vote the better states into the same dumb troubles they voted into the states they left. Texas is getting fed up with all the morons coming in from California and southern states have about had it with people from the northeast blue states coming down there. You can't fix stupid.

A little Lake Shore Fog while explaining to my wife that her Christmas present isn’t gonna happen. Tickets to Kenny Chesney in Seattle as part of our summer trip to Crater Lake NP. Cant say I’m broken up over this. Big crowds, loud music... not my thing. On the other hand, I’m out a lot of money. So far they are calling it a postponement, so no refunds. Cancellation or postponement, I’m out of luck either way as I’m not traveling to Seattle just for a concert. At least there’s beer!

Morning out fishing on Oneida with buddy Corey. We each lost a walleye but they were tough to come by. But got a nice bunch of good sized perch. And a day out fishing with a buddy and a beer after like your supposed to!

I don't foresee a new bow in my future. New technology or not I still shoot a Martin Cougar III. It does everything I need it to do. A deer is not going to know the difference between a arrow, Shot from the latest and greatest bow or one that is 50,000 years old. As long as the shooter does his or her part.

That’s the one state that most of our friends / relatives moved to . The couple who ,just broke ground on their home there , has two, neighbors from the next town over up, here ( Penfield ) , and the real estate agent they used down there, actually was the first owner of MY house here in Webster . My nephew does very well in deer season there too !

I'd just chill somewhere and see if they get loose from those hens. Call for a minute or two once every half hour or so.
