  1. Daughter Stephanie and her family moved to NJ this year for work. She comes to hunt with us every year for the first week of rifle season. She’s never taken one with a bow, and never taken a doe. Where she is, you have to take a doe before you can take a buck. So she can check that box now! Her first deer without me there. I don’t know the story as she sent the photo after I went to bed. It’s killing me waiting to hear the details!

  2. Just got in from Wyoming at 1:30 AM. Had an absolute blast! Got a nice Muley and saw hundreds of antelope each day, including some very nice bucks. Helped the ranch owner out a bit by exterminating a couple of coyotes and a bunch of Pdogs from his pastures. Great country and a great time .

  3. My buddy just killed a nice 8pt, while looking at him he noticed a scar high on the shoulder. Last year he shot a buck on the same trail, same stand, hit was high, never found it. Well when gutting him sure enough he found a 6" piece of arrow still in him! Crazy story. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

  4. Been in Pa for a few days so I haven't been able to get internet. We go every year for our last of the season camping trip. Saw a lot of elk in the Benezete area. Heard a lot of bugling! It's so cool to see elk only a 3 hour drive from Buffalo! Wish I could win the lottery and draw a tag!

  5. 10/9: Had a good wind and cool morning so hunted before today in 3S (private) till 830am. On Tuesday at2pm I put a cam over a scrape. This morning heard a deer coming from swamp and sure enough he walks by me at 7yds and by the scrape. About 12ft below me (I’m in chair on rock ledge). I saw big a body and wide 4pt. I didn’t see much more. Cam caught movement and took pic at 637am but deer wasn’t in frame. Would have been nice to confirm what I saw. Then 645-655am I listened to a red fox screaming it’s head off. Finally it got light enough for me to see and and it was 42yds away still screaming. Nothing after that, but my cam showed promise considering under 3 full days and crazy winds the last 2 days. A beauty 8pt 5 hours after I set cam and does/fawns each day. Maybe I’ll get back there Sunday to try. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  7. So, i posted a month ago about ordering a new left hand bowrech bow from smiths great outdoors in batavia. Well like most things with the postal service it took longer than expected. For the wait they gave me 50 extra bucks for my trade in. While i was there we went thru the dighting in and then paper tuning process. Well we couldnt get it to paper tune. I was there for 2 hrs as we went thru everything imaginable. We had bowtech on the line making suggestions (we already tried them all). Well they told me they had thier left hand shooting bow tech coming in later and he would look it over to make sure everything we tried was correct. If he couldnt get it to paper tune properly it was going back. They felt really bad about all this obviously. I assumed we would just rig up the bow i was trading in and id be on my way. Nope they said i could come in today and they would give me a new bowtech realm sr6, thats a top of the line new bowtech model btw, and i could use it for the remaider of deer season. If i want to keep it in the end i just pay the difference between the two and id get this one at dealer cost. Well i have the realm now and its a sweet shooting bow, all paper tuned perfectly. I just finished sighting it in and shooting probably 40 arrows thru it. Very happy all the way around with how they handled everything. They have a customer for life.

  8. Again, the best thing we can do to protect our right to bear arms is to be sensible and to distance ourselves from nuts like these.

  9. Talked to her on the phone on the way to work. 20 yard shot with six other deer around, sounded like all within 60 yards. Doe went 100 yds and piled up. First blood trail she had to follow without my eyes helping. And @Biz-R-OWorld from the ground. Now she's after a Jersey buck.

  10. The opening week of bow season has been crazy. The early October cold front really had the bucks up and moving and I've taken in more than half of my desired quota for the ENTIRE season already!!! Due to this fact, I am temporarily going to stop taking any more for a while. Thanks to everyone who has entrusted me with their 2020 Season trophies. I will update this thread when I'm ready to start taking them in again. Thanks and good luck!

  11. Finally got around to building a tower stand this week overlooking one of my prime spots. It's not completely done but it's getting pretty close. Planning on closing it on a bit more and possibly adding windows so a buddy heater keeps it nice and toasty inside. Used an old tonneau cover as the roof since I didn't have any roofing metal available and lined the floor with carpet. Should make an awesome place to take the kiddos hunting with me. Although I think I might be even more excited about it than my son if that's possible

  16. First sit for me in the 3S deer management program Sitting in a new area in an oak next to heavy grasses on route to water. Hoping To play Dr Kevorkian to an EHD Doe(too soon?). Only buck I’ll shoot is a nice one I heard was in the area and had NO BIZ-ness being here! HOT with a subtle but perfect west wind. This is my first climb of the year..here’s what I did wrong. Forgot to tie bottom to top, almost forgot to attach safety harness, dropped my lightweight gloves from my harness and as I type I realize my release is on my bow!!! Always an adventure on the first climb of the season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. For anyone that has or knows a young kid who’s just starting out here’s the setup my son had. Bow was set at 35 and he could pull it back fairly easy but I opted to leave as adding hunting cloths and a cold day could make higher weight tougher plus holding full draw is more challenging. My biggest concern with the lower draw weight was in my mind he needed a smaller fixed blade broad head & the muzzy’s did very well!! Double lung clean pass through.

  20. Not really...As long as you have permission you can hunt from the kitchen table or haymow..

  24. Does anyone remember Watergate? A non stop news scandal that brought down a President and all the men around him, books and movies were made about it. The scale of what the Democrats did to Trump makes the great Watergate scandal look like "child's play", a lot of heads should roll and plenty of prison time dealt. Where is the news coverage?

  28. 11 so far. One buck, a six pointer pushing the does around. 16 total! 2 bucks even did a little sparring. Most deer I've seen on a sit in NY in a long time.

  30. Go low. Especially if bucks will use the low area in the PM to suck in falling thermals before entering the field. Hunt on the crosswind.

  35. Clear and cool 46 degrees when I headed in for my fifth sit. Before I made it to the stand the fog rolled in and hung around til the sun took care of it around 8:30. Haven't seen a deer from the stand yet and after scouting the four areas I hunt have not seen a lot of sign including tracks. Only found a couple of rubs so far and trail cam pics indicate they are only moving during pre-dawn hours and late evening. I have seen a few during the day but sightings have been spotty at best. Might take a few days off before cleaning the dust off the climber and hitting some of my other locations. It should only start getting better. Good luck to all.

  36. In the event Trump loses (which I believe is looking inevitable), and Joe becomes President (succeeded in a few months by Kamala), I just hope the Republicans do every possible thing in their power to do to the next administration that the dems did to this administration. In the unlikely event that the Repubs get the house, they should start impeachment proceedings on Jan 21. There should be an immediate house investigation on Hunter, and there should be a fake and salacious dossier created to fuel the impeachment proceedings. One good turn deserves another. Follow every play from the dem's opposition party playbook.

But if these guys are milita members they are part of the blm antifa militia, I don’t think 99% HNY member want anything to do with these clowns. 41. However, while you are legal, be prepared to deal with passerby’s via car or cycle depending on the road and area. We were legally bird hunting a leased property years ago off some back paved roads and cyclists drive past as we flushed and shot at pheasant. They stopped and called the cops. We were legal, cops were cool, but we were inconvenienced because people suck at times Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  42. Off to the red spot, corner of cut beans , black line is a bush hogged path they enter the field in. Above the line is the hardwoods , below is a very thick area . Yellow spot is a stand I’ve killed a number of bucks out of including a nice ten point in bow a few years back , trouble is they often hug the thicket side, hence the new stand I’ll be in .

  43. I posted the story in our journal thread under sons first season but thought I’d post a pic here of his first deer for anyone who didn’t see it in the thread. I’ve been blown away by the fact that my 12yr old can bring home meat for table. Crazy and so proud!

  46. So much for nobody talks, everyone walks! Well I had an epic morning. I spooked no fewer than five deer on my way into a new stand I put up in a nice oak flat. Acorns were literally raining down its all I could hear. At around 7:30 four does and a four point came in together and although upwind (real wind, gusty) they got spooky and finally the big doe started blowing and they left. They were looking in a different direction so I dont know if the wind swirled or they saw something or what. The buck hung around for a bit then also left. A bit later another small buck chased two fawns around for a while and then fed out in front of me. Finally two more does came in and one fed in to 24 yards and I shot. I couldnt see my arrow but the shot felt and sounded good. I sat down and called a buddy just to pass the time and all of a sudden I look to my right and the buck is just standing like a statue at 20 yards. I had the sun at my back and I think it saved me. He moved behind a blowdown and I was able to draw and shoot him at 24 yards. He went about 60 yards and tipped over. I waited another half hour and got down to check the doe arrow. That looked real good so I got on blood and the doe was ten yards behind the buck. He had some ground shrinkage but I'm thrilled and glad to have him. Ive got some family challenges that could effect some upcoming weekends. When I got down another doe came in and stared me down for a bit and then started feeding again, I like this KUIU pattern. Also I cut the bejeezus out of my thumb inside the buck and it is still weeping, may go get that looked at lol
