Parked drinking coffee head in soon . I watched 15 plus turkeys roost last night should be a fun walk ! Mrs Nomad bought me the same card and scratch off , 32 years of marriage , still in sync.

I decided to pass on the morning hunt. When I woke up, the wind had shifted to WSW. I really needed a NW. Thankfully it was forecasted to switch back for the afternoon. I got done at work a little early and I was in my blind by 3:45. At around 4:30 my number 2 buck came down the trail leading to my ground blind. At 20 yards before he got to my shooting lane I drew. But he ended up stopping to make a scrape. I couldn’t shoot because he was still behind a bunch of brush. After about 3 minutes, I let down and waited for him to finish. Once he started moving, I drew again. This time he stopped at 8 yards facing me right behind a tree to hit another scrape. I held for what felt like an eternity. I didn’t want to let down because he was right on the edge of my lane. He eventually finished and took a quick step to his left and was on the move. I let it fly, but I hit him a touch back. He walked off hunched up and bedded down about 40 yards away on the edge of the clearing. After about 10 minutes he got up slowly and walked into the thicket. I snuck out of the blind and I’ll be back there at first light. I didn’t look for my arrow yet. I figured even if it was liver, I’d still need to give him plenty of time. Either way, it’s best to give him plenty of time and go get him in the morning. Thankfully we don’t have any coyotes to worry about or else I’d be back in there later tonight.

Thanks everyone I compared it to my best buck and it falls just a little short but still my second biggest buck ever with 35 years of hunting so I'm ecstatic. Early November is finally here. I have seen a lot of hate spewed in recent days about a man who is a constant winner and overachiever, and that's what the people who support him like about him. Yes, he's been caught in some lies and maybe twisted the truth a little but he's still out there proving his haters wrong time after time. Some people are just jealous of someone who is successful and has money. Throw in a hot foreign underwear model at his side and they hate him even more. You may not have wanted him in his role, but he's there now and there's nothing you can do about it. I just took a shot on what might be my biggest deer to date. I believe it's a big 8. I was walking along a hedge row when I seen him in the middle of the field. I dropped to the ground and used my backpack as a rest. It was out there about 225 yrds. When I shot it acted hit it took off and was seeming to struggle to run. Bumped two on way in. Wasn’t using a light as the moon was plenty. The first jumped like 30 feet from me. Bounded 30 yards and stopped. So I did. Then I just slowly kept going. I heard the deer move a bit but didn’t blow out. 40 yards farther I jump another that one does not go far either but as I continued on I could hear it walking away. Got all set up in stand and 6:10 I hear deer out front. Still pretty dark. Then I hear a second following grunting. I got binos on him at maybe 70 yards out. Big body, too dim to make out rack. I’m thinking it’s the two I bumped. Now it’s almost legal let’s see if I can have some luck! 36 out barely wind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Couldn't have said it better myself! Plenty of places on the net, to go spew whatever political garbage you want. Why anyone would come to a 'hunting' forum with deep seated leftist views, trying to change the political minds of deep seated 2nd amendment member views, is way beyond me. That's why I hardly ever come to this section. Too many "HUNTERS" not hunting! I'd love to see this whole political section removed from the forum, as it just stinks up everything else. But the ones who frequent this section the most, even ones with "hunter" in their avatar, and not very versatile, would cry like the little bitches they are. Get the hell out and hunt!!! Or at least add something constructive to this forum!

Although your rebuttal of #garbage was brilliance and almost changed my mind, I instead realized the facts that both sides - which most people understand is Dem and Rep, have been positioning themselves for a close election and to claim fraud and just push it to the court. But I understand how you may have missed this trying to keep up on all your hunting informative posts you put on this HUNTING site, which add up to #garbage. I'm headed out to hunt. Regardless of what the weather does, the next couple of weeks will be the best of the year for NY deer hunters.

A little bit (4 acres) of woods. Trying to contact the adjoining landowner who owns 66 acres, to either get permission to hunt, lease or possibly buy his property. He lives out of state. I’ve already mailed him a letter, called his home 2 times and messaged him on LinkedIn, but I haven’t heard anything back. When I left messages, I just said I bought the property next to his and wanted to be neighborly and introduce myself and would like to speak to him. No luck yet.... I took a walk to check my two Cam's yesterday with Ladder in hand and halfway down the trail I stopped just to see if anything was moving . I could see my Ladder Stand from where I was and noticed after about 10 minutes movement at the stand . Well it turned out to be a nice Doe standing directly under my Ladder Stand ! So I froze and waited to see where she went , well she stayed there and along comes another Doe and another Doe and a total of 5 Does of which 3 were shooters ! I am not a Bow hunter but will be there this Saturday for Cross Bow !

Warm or not I would be out there. Rutty bucks will still be moving. Also warmer temps make all day sits a lot easier. Prob early and late will be best but this is the time of year . Crazy how warm it is. Was gonna go north and try a little gun buck/ bear hunting but gonna wait til next week.

Those two youngsters finally got up. Started feeding and rubbing when a third 1 1/2 year old came in and started pushing one around. Nothing serious but a neat show. All three left together

Had a small buck chase a doe by behind me. Then I see a deer running 200 yards out in front of me back and forth. Looked all alone? Then the doe and small buck run right to me from my left. Had a doe and 2 fawns walk by at 12 yards. 5 min later, they came back by watching behind them and alert. A few min later a 4pt appeared hot on their trail! He was grunting and charging them. Cool only being 12 yards from them and having a front row seat! Had bad thoughts there for a minute, as those 2 would have made a welcomed addition to my freezer! But,............. Saw this guy in the lane way , turned on my light for the pic. I was maybe 40 yards from him, I finally told him to beat it .

If you can see them they can see you 2x as far and 2x as clear. 160 yards making noise in a tree where they can Pin point you by sound and sight , you may as well be holding a here i am.neon arrow. Rattle.from good cover if your going to do it some place where you can only alert one of their senses like hearing, light up another like scent or sight and they will never come in.

Out in 7F. Tried to find a spot thats least likely to have a buck walk thru. Lol. Looking for a big fat nanny doe. But of course I have the ultimate big buck attractant there is ....a punched buck tag! So anytime I expect a monster. Too nice not to be outside and I'm not racking leaves on a vacation day.

the democrats were very much anticipating (based off polling) a landslide and a landslide indicates that the republicans are dead. In turn, it looks like the republicans will maintain the senate and even if Trump loses, it was very close. So there is no blue wave that they wanted or thought they might have. Conversely, the republicans went in knowing it would be tight all around and keeping the conservative movement alive is a win for them. Neither of these points change regardless of what happens with the election and can still be true at this time.

If one is playing the wind correctly, its a very small window where a scent wick could be blowing to a buck while your scent is not. That's why I think most people that use them see more small bucks than matures. A drag could help but even then mostly the goal is entrance where you aren't blowing to where you expect the bucks to be coming from. But to each his own.

Thank you Moog! A little challenging with only 5 acres here at home, the 80 out back that I have sole permission to hunt on...the land owner is an absolute panicked nutjob. I could tell you stories for hours, but its not like me to badmouth people. I appreciate the permission, but just for a hint of what I am dealing with, the landowner does not want coyotes taken, and when she sees a coyote deer kill, she insists its poachers. I have never in almost 10 yrs had a stranger on trail cam, or issues. I find myself year, after year, looking to stick to my own 5 acres. Point is, it is difficult to not burn out my 3 stands on the 5 acres, but I am disciplining myself. I am not complaining though, I truly love just being out there.

Yes sir, pretty excited about it, and feeling confident. I purposely have stayed out of the woods, other than to build my tower blind(last minute thought). I noticed that the last few years, while bow hunting, that I never really saw deer. I honestly would hunt every second that I had available since bow opener...You might remember me sharing that info last year, well once crossbow started, I would see deer, then the sightings would fade until regular season, and then I would literally not see a deer during regular. I thought about when I would get legal bucks cruising on trail cam day/night....that was always around Halloween, and after, so I said this year I was only going to hunt a few times until around Halloween...seems to be working. I am thinking about taking all of next week off. Congrats again on that beast, definitely what hunting dreams are made of.

At sunset today a baby buck came by my stand and started eating. It was cool at first, but he wouldn’t go away, and it was getting too dark to see so I had to come down. Eventually he walked away...only to stop and turn around and come back. Finally I decided screw it...if he sees me and gets spooked then oh well. So I climbed down as slowly and quietly as I could. And he just stood there, less than 20 yards away, watching me the whole time. I got to the ground, picked up my pack, gave him one last look, and walked home. And he still never ran away.

10/31/20 A.M. Action packed morning for both of us.. Ill try to keep it short.. My stepson Cole's first Mature buck... at 14 yrs old!! He came home from his dads the night before to hunt with me after showing him some recent cell cam pics, I was so happy when he did this... I have a little slice of heaven i try to leave alone until The halloween time frame.. I put him there. Great spot between several bedding areas. I told him good luck, text me when your in and ready, and you should find it no problem at all.. Shoot straight and be safe. Lets bring one home today.. we fist bumped and off he went.. He informed me he will not shoot a buck he wont shoulder mount, it has to be a good one he says.. Even though on this property I told him he could shoot whatever he wanted to.. he insisted it has got to be a wall mounter or no go! lol. Alright bud im cool with it if you are.. I said keep your eyes peeled bc they will be on top of you there when you first see them.. he had several deer and a shooter on him shortly after first light but no shots.. passed a couple small bucks waiting on mr big.. he text me at 915 saying he hadn't seen anything in awhile and his feet were getting cold.. I Told him we can get down if you'd like but if you can hold out, that stand usually gets hot again around 10am .. or we can leave no big deal to me, were here for his hunting pleasure i'm just watching and guiding from a long distance lol.. he wanted to warm his feet.. I told him ill head to the car and come get you now.. as i started walking out of my stand a giant 8 and young buck appeared with a doe and fed in the corn in front of me for awhile.. I text him if your feet get cold go for a short walk if you need or hold out until 10, there's a slammer right in front of me taking his time... Long story short i moved on him and got 40 yards and couldn't seal the deal. so darn close but he went the other direction and i left the grunt call home.. there was another shooter further down the field too! All while this is going on, I get a text from Cole, I just missed a doe... twice! lol. First shot caught a branch and deflected the arrow and broke... the second shot went under her... Then moments i get the "just shot a buck" text.. and i start shaking! lol. heck yes heck yes!! he told me, as he hung his bow up, turned his head to look the other way around the tree, and there is this good buck and he's walking through his 20 yard lane, he had to act fast as there was one more small hole to shoot through or not shots will be taken.. in one motion he grabs the bow turns and comes to full draw, stops the buck in the small opening and lets it fly. The arrows connects just behind the front shoulder and the buck takes off... so we text back and forth I told him to stay put ill be right down with the car.. and we will go in and check it out. I meet with him at the road, we discuss things, go grab a coffee and a snack then come back. About 20 yards from the hit site we find the arrow, blood soaked about 12in deep and broken the broadhead plus 2 inches of arrow. We followed a scuffed up trail a running deer had made in a straight line from the direction of the hit site... no blood for a while but its the direction he went supposedly.. 100 yrds in we find a drop of blood.. awesome awesome awesome, this most certainly has to be the buck.. Finally after tracking a small drop of blood every 10 - 15 yrds or so, the 200 yard mark was when the blood trail gets heavier steadier, and splatter everywhere. as we go over another nole, I pick the binoculars up and see him up on the creek bank 75 yards ahead.. he's laying dead right there... He double lunged him with a rage, 2 big slashed holes in both lungs, and the cape stopped it upon exiting.. that deer had an extreme will to live.. Hes shooting 58# 27in draw. We almost got messed up on our tracking efforts as we began starting the track, another shooter buck came pass us all injured bleeding from the mouth hacking coughing, struggling to walk.. so we immediately thought it was him.. we stopped the direction we were going and began to tracked him slightly to check the blood, and couldn't find any sign.. But this buck was seriously wounded. So we decided that it was best we got back on to our initial trail and stayed after the evidence we found which instead, led us to the end of the right crime scene.. So someone got an arrow in a good one and we have a wounded breeder running around .. I couldn't be more proud of this Kid! Our hunting trips together just keep getting better and better every time... from Deer to turkey and coyotes.. its always a blast and action packed with him!

I learned that unless it’s a slammer pass on Oct 1. I had to watch one of the biggest I ever saw stroll by at 25yds during the rut when I tagged out Oct 1 2 years ago. No complaints but I won’t do it again unless it’s a monster.

The funny part is if he ran he hands down beats these two out of the presidency too. And we would get to have Gronk as vice president!
