  4. Even though I was in PA I’ll post. Rattled at 6:45 this am, had a 4pt chase and grunt at a doe 40 yards behind me and bed down. I turned around and an 8 point was coming right towards them, send a bolt through his liver and lung and watch him run off crashing into trees. I backed out to be safe as I thought it was back. Only went 100. Blood everywhere and died fast. While tracking kicked a 6 and doe up, another buck and doe chasing in front of cabin while I was waiting. Crazy morning. 17” inside. With the heat this is the first time in 10 years and only the second deer I’m having processed at a butcher!

  7. 8 days of 75-80 degrees turned this into not much of hunt. Passed a couple better bucks, and we decide to turn the last hunt of the trip into a meat Hunt. I got this little guy with 10 minutes left in the last day. Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk

  11. Just had what would have been the BIGGEST buck of my life come to within 23 yards. Beautiful 10 pt tall wide and thick. I saw him at 50 and grunted him closer. He wouldn’t come out of the thick. 3 more steps!!! He just turned and walked slowly away. Unreal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. I haven’t posted deer in a few years. Made a conscious decision not to share details for various reasons. Solidified a few weeks ago when a very notorious turkey hunter called me out citing my harvest record. Most of you guys are real good shit, so nothing personal. Just know it was a good morning and the good memories are there for me and my family [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk in

  19. I'm as far from civilization as I can get down here. 600 feet down. Been 9 months since ACL surgery and man my legs were shaking walking down that hill. No pain, just muscle fatigue. Gonna be sweaty climbing out at noon. Leaves are super loud this morning. Got a fresh scrape above and below me.

  23. BUCK DOWN! Went out for a morning sit, arrived at Jason's Double around 6:30am and get settled in quickly. Around 6:50 I noticed the back end of a deer walking through some brush about 80 yards to my right. I got my binos on it and saw a quick glimpse of horn. I grunted three times and he just kept walking. A couple of minutes later I see he is walking back on the same trail, I grunt again, but no response. Then he turned around and I could not see where he went. After 10 minutes of looking hard at the brushy area to my right I hear leaves crunching to my left! I slowly turn to look that way and the deer had come upwind of me and was headed right for my tree! Thankfully, I had already gotten my bow down and clipped my release on. I stood up slowly as he was walking towards the field behind me. I drew and when he was just a few steps from hitting the field and offering no shot I let out a quiet "meh". I already had his body in my peep sight and as soon as he was still I let it fly. It was just under a 20 yard shot. Had a nice thwack sound but the arrow did not pass through, only halfway through. He turned and ran through a dead fall and got all tangled up and I saw the arrow drop out. He runs 30 yards and comes to a dead stop and tips over. A few twitches of his legs and he was done. I look up into the field and there is another deer standing there. I get my binos out hoping it was a doe and I could double up like on of the HNY.COM Heros here! But he is a spike. He stands around for a few minutes and then walks over to my deer. He is sniffing it and I think he even licked it a few times. I grunted at him hoping it would scare him off, but he didn't care. After a few more minutes I let my pack and bow down and climbed down. This stand has a very creaky ladder so after two rungs down the spikey was gone. Thank God, because I wanted to see my deer! After a few pictures and texts, I got him gutted and brought him out to our farm and into a walk-in cooler. With help from my friend, we are planning to cut him up Monday evening. This is my second bow deer and I am really happy to have added bow hunting to my list of hobbies!

  24. So I was on vacation this past week I love the hunt pre-rut and always take the last week of October off if possible. I had seen deer every day out and seen bux every day as well but I tried to hold out for a good mature buck. I hadn’t taken a buck with the bow in a few years and really wanted my son to connect one. But he has been duckhunting and doing well too so after passing this guy up once I couldn’t resist a second time. A small buck came out in the field first at about 50 yards and he came out a few seconds behind him at about 35 yards they both stayed on course and eventually were right in front of me. I ranged the buck I call The Magnificent 7 he was at 27 yds cleared a cornstalk got to 25 and I drew and he kept walking getting past me. He stopped quartering away and I shot. Everything happens quick with the sound of the shot is what I felt good about it sounded like I made a good connection that Thumping a hollow sound. Found myself shaking a little bit calm down call my son he said he would be over to help me look for it in a half an hour as he was finishing up duckhunting. I waited about a half an hour and got down and looked all through the field and could not find any blood or the arrow. I checked the edge of the field where he ran off into the woods and could not find any blood. So my son had got there with my grandsons Eric who is six and Eli who is three and we decided to check a camera on the side hill to see if the buck went by wounded. When we got up to the camera we were ahead of Eli a little bit and he said hey papa here’s some blood and we looked on the ground that we had walked over and lo and behold there was a blood trail. Really couldn’t believe it at that point but hey take it as it comes so we started following the trail and lost it once then found it and then Eric said hey papa I think I see a fat deer up there and sure enough we see a white belly up ahead. Really couldn’t believe it at that point but hey take it as it comes so we started following the trail and lost it once then found it and then Eric said hey papa I think I see a fat deer up there and sure enough we see a white belly up ahead So it turns out my grandkids have some strong tracking and finding skills so if anyone is in need please let me know there’s turned out to be a great Halloween good hunting to all Lomax

  25. I used to sell my hides to the processor. If I dont stack em' up and get behind on my work I'm planning on tanning all of my healthy hides. It was some work and elbow grease but after about 6 or 8 hours over the course of a week or so here it is. Still needs a little breaking in.

  26. OK, I was never so shaken at the shot as with this buck! Watched him come in below me for 80 yards. He came right up the trail to an intersection I ranged at 35yards. I let it fly and hit a little high. I watched him run down the hill zig and zagged a few times, tail up. looked like blood on the exit side as he spun and ran. Did not find the arrow, but I backed out quickly after I thought I saw some movement down the hill. Giving him until the morning. Not going to sleep much tonight... It was already 49 when I left so I am confident it will be cool enough over night not to spoil the meat.

  34. Only action during the evening sit was a young woman who lost her way off the trail. Seeing she was clearly lost, I took off the facemask, called to her and scared the daylights out of her. Pointed her back the right way to the trail for which she was very appreciative. Fortunately for her, I punched my last tag for her species about 25 years ago. New public spot seems a little better. No action during legal, but heard some movement in the brush as dark fell and kicked up something on the hike back. Be back at it tomorrow. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

  35. Made some notes..... If I was to ever plan a camping trip up to the ADK's for a weekend of bow hunting and invited some people from here: @Jeremy K would rather hunt in Ohio. I guess the out of state tags are cheaper then gas here. @The_Real_TCIII would need some basic tips on using a compass by land marks ( easiest way to use one ). We would need a search party for @Robhuntandfish of he got out of sight of his truck. WTF, don't you people ever leave your back yards? <-------- That's a joke.
