  1. Hunting partners daughter, and my god daughter, scores her first bow buck this morning! Seven point. She made a perfect double lung shot. Deer went about 60 yards. Was so pumped and happy for her when I got the text "buck down "!!! Had to skin and cut him up right away, but didn't take us long. I saw three doe and another small buck before coming out for the celebration. Im out now up near the big swamp, hoping to give her buck some company in the freezer! November 10th. The "Magic Day" indeed!

  3. Finally on the board.... I was in my stand by 6:00 am...it was so quiet and relaxing without any wind.... I watched a small buck step out of thicket at 60 yards and look around the hardwoods....after 10 minutes...he turned and went back in thicket....20 minutes go by and 2 does come running down the hardwoods hill......and the run into thicket on right......then nothing for an hour.... Then 60 yards to my left where the little buck came out....out pops 7 does...holy cow...so I notice theres the giant matriarch that has blown me out twice and is a pain in my bowhunting butt...lol...she is followed by 3 nice does and 3 fawns So she proceeds to walk 20 yards broadside....never knew I was there.... I draw back ...noone notices....phew....release... Double lung.....she runs 50 yards into open hardwoods stops ....then does the right handed wobble crash run.....bammm... she is down in view...she is big.. Bowhunting rules!! 6. 11/10 #1 This morning Kunox and I tracked a 6 pointer a 15 year hunter shot yesterday afternoon. He and his Dad had only tracked it a short distance before backing out. Kunox quickly took us to last blood and after correcting himself once, took us 350 yards to the dead deer. He was happy to get a good chew, and we were happy the coyotes hadn’t found the buck first. #2 I hadn’t even walked in the house yet after the first track when I got another call. This one took me to Cape Vincent. Luna was extremely happy, to say the least! The bowhunter had shot an 8 pointer yesterday afternoon and he and a buddy had tracked it for 150 yards, then grid searched after losing blood. Luna took us to the point of loss, then it took a while to get past that point. She eventually chose a trail and took us into a swamp. At one point she acted like she wanted to cross a deep beaver run, then changed her mind. We ended up going back to last blood for a restart but we ended up back in the same area of the swamp. We waded through the beaver run and Luna seemed confident, so on we went. She checked and rejected 3 or 4 trails before picking one and sticking with it for a long way. I looked over a few yards off the trail and spotted the back of the buck as he was bedded, but I couldn’t see his head. I was surprised when he jumped up and moved slowly away from us. I had the hunter move up to dispatch the deer, he had only gone a short distance and bedded down again. He died 750 yards from where he was shot, but we covered 1.28 miles during the track. We never saw any blood beyond the hunter’s point of loss, so we definitely had to trust Luna girl!

  9. Did one quick set across the street and it paid off. Walking in scanning with the thermal i saw a group of deer on one side of the field and a lone deer on the other. Got setup and scanned back by the lone deer and picked up a smaller heat source maybe 20 yards from the deer in a hedgerow. The deer took a few steps closer to it then took off. I played a cottontail distress and it hoped out of the brush. This was pushing 300 yards at this point, so i was patient as it slowly made its way across the field stopping occasionally and just looking towards the call. It made it to about 150 yards and that was close enough for me. Put the crosshairs on the chest and squeezed. It immediately starying spinning in circles, i was pumped but then it took off...shit, chambered another round and took another shot on the run, then 1 more.it dipped below a low spot and i lost it. Got back on the thermal scanner and picked up another dog. I thought it was the one i shot at already. So it starts moving away and i take a shot at it and now its off too the races, 1 more shot for good luck and now im put. That dog made it into the woods. I thought how in the hell did it survive? So i start walking out scanning with the thermal, get to the dip and theres my yote, dead. A 2nd one came in while i was shooting at the first! I missed out on my first double. Still a great night for 15 mins of hunting. Its a nice redfish female, just finished skinning her and now time for a shower and bed.

  10. So I knew it could only be a few houses. Our blinds weren’t touched. In the meantime my brother check tax records and pinpointing the family on Facebook. We showed up the house. Guy said he cut old treestand down that was facing his house that he noticed. It hadn’t been used in years. Then he took the camera and called cops since he thought it was on border of land. I showed him on ONX it’s close but our land. He gave the camera back and was relieved knowing who actually hunts behind his house. He also gave us recovery rights going forward, which is great. The views from his deck were insane overlooking my dad’s hunting land. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  11. November 21st 2010 I joined the forum. Now I know this special anniversary has came up in several of your emails on what to do for me. So let me make this easy on you all. I don’t want a party or a gold watch or he’ll even a t-shirt. But if the hunting forum gods ( not you Biz or Jerkman) would you grant me the chance of a nice buck on the gun opener.

  13. Well yesterday saw nine deer! Hunted pretty much dark to dark, in two places. 8 of the deer were doe's and fawns. One was a small buck that got a pass until next year. Thing is, the doe's were just casually feeding along, with not one buck harassing them? The two year old buck was all by himself feeding on acorns! Anyways.....back at em again today. As today is Nov 10th!!!! What I call the "Magic Day"! Not sure how much magic I'll see out there today? But I'm going to try to pull a rabbit out of my hat, so to speak. Best of luck to all heading out today!

  16. This is abso ****ingloutley correct.....Happens with the gun also, but with the gun you are in a better position to get another good shot in before the deer gets up and runs away, never to be seen again....Don't ask me how I know this, but it comes from experience, and not just my own...

  19. I thought I would post this here being as a lot of us really do enjoy the "old" harvest thread format. I decided not to hunt Saturday morning and instead head out for an afternoon sit. I walked the 1/2 miles through the loudest crunchiest leaves I have ever heard. I got to the stand, hung my bow on the rope, took off my pack, hung it on the rope, took two steps up the ladder and it creaked. Instantly I heard the "snap!" of a branch and looked up to see a very nice 8 point trotting away, not 30 yards from me. Directly down wind. He must have stood or was bedded right there and watched me over the last 80 yard approach and begin my climb. It was really cool to see and it was a buck we do not have pics of. 4 hours later, I'm getting ready for the last hour of the day and I catch movement from below as a deer moves up the hill on the trail I'm posted on. The setting sun made it difficult to really see what it was, but as he cleared a briar patch the left beam shined like a beacon in the sunlight. I thought I knew this buck! We have had pics of him since July. He looked to be a beast on camera. I started shaking. I thought to myself "come ON... this is nothing new, get it together." A few deep breaths and he walked behind a big oak, I drew and he stopped dead. For about a minute I held a full draw until he began moving again, another 15 yards into an opening, I grunted, he stopped and I let it fly. I could see the hit was high, it looked really high. I was a wreck. I watched him run about 150 yards from me before disappearing. I waited a few minutes and looked for the arrow. Nothing. Small amounts of blood. I figured I looked a little further and found good blood, but looked down the hill to see what appears to be his head bobbing left and right. I backed out. Went in the next morning and found him right there. After comparing the pics and the videos we have, it was clear that this deer was not the one I thought he was, very similar, but not the same deer. The deer I thought he was has two brows, this one only has one and he was not as big-bodied. We do not have any pics of this deer on camera. I am super happy with him and very thankful that I had the chance to take him. Thanks to everyone for all the support and encouragement after the shot. He's going on the wall!

  25. Dear Vice President Biden, Although I refused to listen to it, I understand that during your "Presidential" acceptance speech, you were calling for the unity of Trump supporters... I remember four-years ago my President Trump also called for unity and how Congressional members of your Democratic Party responded by boycotting his inauguration. I remember how you and your Democratic party cheated and used the greatest Law Enforcement institution of this Country to spy on my President's campaign. I remember how you and your Democratic Party created a fake Russian Dossier to try to impeach my President. I remember how your Speaker of the House ripped up my President's beautiful State of the Union speech on National television. I remember how you and your Democratic Party tried to impeach my President over a Ukraine phone call, while YOU were in bed with them. You accused my President of pay-to-play, remember Joe??? Come to find out, it was really you and your son Hunter. I remember how you and your Democratic Party blamed President Trump over a pandemic that he had nothing to do with. I remember how you and your Democratic Party falsely and dangerously painted ME and 70 million+ Americans as racist and hateful for four-years straight. I remember how you and your Democratic Party encouraged rioting and looting of my great United States of America. I remember how you and your Democratic Party used the media to spread lie after lie about my President and his supporters. Author Unknown

  27. An enumeration of any type of voter suppression efforts would be very debatable. Overwhelming the system with illegal ballots is the most effective way to suppress legal votes. This was not a fair election. This was the most corrupt election in the history of the US.

  28. Congrats!! Remorse is the hardest thing to deal with but as general lee once said, the hardest thing is ordering the death of the thing you love.( he of couse was refering to his army) but same can be said when you work the land and grow the game and then decide to take an animal you have watched and nurtured, its a deep connection one not to be taken lightly. If one doesnt feel it then i would question their values and morals.

  33. About 20 years later. Leaf blowing my trails ,there she lay, minus the three five inch feathers . Based upon the location ,and arrow , I recall this shot . A buck came out, I pulled the Golden Eagle back ,ready to send a two blade Mangus through the lungs, when whack ! The arrow is bouncing around his antlers , wtf ,I’m at a loss, then I see a small vine swinging a little . It’s the old “ I hit a vine / sapling “ excuse . I don’t know if the arrow bend is from the hit, or stepping on it as it’s on a trail , we’ve walked in and out on 100’s of times since . I remember that hunt well ,not just hitting the rack , but I was mentoring a kid, who’s since served in the Army, got married and has a family of his own now . Loved those Mangus two blades ,absolute bone cutting pass through killers , the only head , where I’ve had deer stand there after a pass through and look around ,till they tipped over . And yes that’s a hand painted arrow and crest .

  37. 11/7/20. Got in the stand 45 minutes or so before legal. 15 minutes later a gray fox visited. Right around legal light 2 young bucks showed up one came right under me all drunk/rutty. Shortly after a big yote bound in close no shot. A few minutes later another came from the same direction and worked to a shooting lane to my left (perfect for a shot). Got caught drawing and it spooked. Then around 7:30 I hear this buck coming in from behind me and starts turning left. 15-20 yard shot that us right handed shooters love.Once he was broadside stopped him with my mouth floated my pin where I wanted and pulled pulled pulled and the shot broke. Arrow hit its mark. He mule kicked hard before jacking up a fence and crashed in sight. Memory forever, meat in the cooler and maybe I saved a few trees. **Edit** Forgot to add 160# dressed. Sliver away from 16" inside

  42. This is the problem with Trumpism: he preys on the stupidity and laziness of folks to advance false narratives. Then his followers simply parrot him and propose fictitious scenarios without actually understanding the process they question. In New York if you vote by mail, you are allowed to show up at your voting site and vote in person if you’ve changed your mind or if you fear that your mailed ballot will not arrive in time to be counted. The system is design to reject the mailed in vote if you also submit an in person vote.

  43. We had a fair election, everything else is just deflection because your guy lost. Republicans are in charge of elections in PA and GA, what reason would they have to swing the results toward Biden ? I also still have yet to hear a reason why Democrats would rig it for Biden, but fail to do so for the House/Senate candidates. Are those votes also in question ?

  45. I'm putting this here as well as another thread because people need to understand what is about to happen if Biden takes control. The Senate majority is currently a battle the GOP could lose. If they take the Senate, let me remind you what Biden, Harris, Schumer, and Pelosi will do. They will insist Trump "stole the Supreme Court" and endeavor to pack the Court. They will also endeavor to pack the Senate by advancing statehood for Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico. In a final blow to our Republic, they will attempt to abolish the Electoral College. Of course, to ultimately succeed in their effort to overtake the Rule of Law with their statist rule of men, they must undermine the last defense of American Liberty, the Second Amendment. Biden and Harris will start chipping away at that "palladium of the Liberties of the Republic" on Day One. The leftist's here are so punch drunk in love with Trump's loss, they can't see the disaster that is coming because of their hate.

  47. You nailed it. I say that too honestly. I also say these deer can get hit by a train, car, etc, and be wasted. I am not looking for attention, but I have always been fortunate in having one shot, good kills. I never had to experience the sight of the deer actually dying. I knew it happens, but to have messed up the shot, and having to have had to follow this guy, was a rough experience. I realize this isn’t something that only I have experienced, but this is the first for me, and it been tough. Like I said, I am not looking for attention, but I am just being honest with this entire situation.
