  1. Took this buck with the bow, a couple days ago. I’ll probably send a tooth out for exact aging, but judging by tooth wear, he’s 7.5 years old or older.

  2. Well,i did find tracks very quickly. I followed them for a while and may have caught up with the deer since they turned into running tracks. So i veered off and worked my way to my favorite north south ridge. I forgot who mentioned it,maybe @G-Man. Zig zag across the ridge. I have seen does bedded on the windy side before,so i gave it a go. No deer on the windy side,so i zagged over to the other side and peeked over. I caught movement and froze. A doe about 45 yds from me,behind some blowdowns. Then i see another, and a third. It is really thick with fallen trees so i kept scanning and trying to figure out how big they are. Well one starts circling to get downwind of me,and another watches her and follows slowly. Another is watching me from further down the hill. I decided no.2 is big enough and shoot her at about 60 yds before i get busted, and a whole bunch of does run off. This one made it 80 yds or so,the shot was a little further forward than intended,i think i was afraid of a tree and some brush that hid the back half of the doe. I am very happy i got her, what a season i have had. It has been years since i got three deer, and this was my first two buck season as well.

  10. Not any more, I pulled them. I have permission to hunt my adjacent property...that’s where the drag was. I don’t believe anyone else has permission. I spoke to someone I saw here last year and explained the situation and where I hunt...pretty sure it’s the same person I saw hunting from one of my other blinds. I’ll probably follow the drag marks to his house after my hunt and reintroduce myself.

  12. Finally a storm late at night. Opens some awesome opportunities for a group of us to go on a late night back roads road rip on the sleds! Back when I was in high school it wouldn’t be anything for us to have 30-40 sleds together for a “road rip” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. I'm in. Wind died right out so not bad. Trying to down one before it storms. ALL the AG up here is now cut they usually never get time to do it all but this year it is. But I have a cow pasture behind me and a picked corn field just over the knoll so maybe I get one passing thru. Also fresh today's tracks by the stand. Small but deers.

  16. I drew blood on red fox a few weeks ago. pay attention! If i can hit a red fox with bow at 33 yards, that puts me in the top 1% of all bow shooters on this forum after all the mishits we've seen on deer with huge kill zones.

  17. Busy morning, Plows on the truck, snowblower is on the tractor and it’s full of fuel with the fluids checked/topped off. Sleds are gassed up, checked over and put front row in the barn. Wood bin is full here and at moms. Ready as I’ll ever be. Got the heavy clothes out and the Baffin boots, I’m headed to the woods! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. Buckform est circa 2012. It started out as 4 - 6 x 6 25 foot long posts buried 4 1/2 feet each and then concreted in. Along with a platform measuring 12 x 12 approximately 14 high. All pressure treated. Steps came in 2014 and hunted out of ground blind until 2016 the built 11x11 building roof. This year we finished inside and outside (insulated, wired and folding windows). I have 2 comfy office swivel chairs a table and 2 dead shot field pods for guns. Interior design folks from Cabela’s coming in January to finish decor haha. Next year wall mount heat replace mr buddy heater and power source. When we finish the downstairs I think I’m going to lease it out to Bob Krafts massage parlor folks and get some of my money back.

  24. Built this late summer with my dad. 4’x6’ box which is I VERY happy with, deer encounters are typically close, so any larger, than I create blind spots, that I would need to move around for. 12’ treated legs, elevator brackets secured with timber bolts, deck torx screws, everything minus board/bats are treated. 3/4” plywood treated floor, 3/4” x 12” boards covered with tin roof(full boards not normal pearlings, thin carpet for sound deadening, front/rear plexiglass slider windows, and one you see is hinged on the door, and the 4th is a flip up with a magnet(magnet has a strip of electrical tape for sound reduction). Buddy heater with a 12’ hose, filter, and 20 lb tank. Treated ladder, with the rungs the same distances apart, as a standard ladder. I would only change the rear window, it is a pinch low, I would add height, rather than moving it up. I shot my deer from that window though. I plan to add a little piece of plywood to hold the propane tank though, rather than resting it on the ladder brace. I will add a few hooks as well, and I am thinking about a little flip up shelf for the bi-pod. I love it, oh and I need a better seat! I was in it solo all season, but for a once in a while 2 person sit, it will be perfect.

  28. if you are going to get some snow from this upcoming storm i would recommend still hunting. It is a ton of fun and you will learn.a lot from following/observing fresh tracks. If there is fresh snow i dont know how anyone sits still.

  42. Naked stand is in a tree that is by itself on a hedgerow. No cover whatsoever. Jan Brady is the middle stand of a group of 3 stands on the edge of a field. I constantly forget about it, going to the first or third one instead. That's when i decided to call it Jan Brady stand.
