Cam checks have been kind of boring post season, but interesting to see what survived season. Got pics of what appears to be a piebald. First time seeing this buck! Interesting that he and a spike appeared to be trailing a group of does that passed by 15min prior.17 points

Big male last night. Haven’t gotten a weight yet. There was a tuft of grass that we could see in the snow, a male was marking it. He hit it on both sides so we set both sides. That was a week ago and last night he came back to mark it again. Not sure which one he got in first but ended up stepping g in both. No cell cam on this set6 points

Took my son on a mission to get him his first steelhead on the fly. We succeeded. He brought both of these fish to the bank. Awesome afternoon and the kid walked a couple miles and never complained. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk6 points

It’s finally here!! Opening day of shotgun here on the island. Looking forward to using my Savage. Up getting ready. It’s an hour and 20 min drive to get to my parking spot out East. I’m gonna be set up on a point on a ridge with a valley on almost 3 sides in front of me, flat plateau behind. When I scouted it yesterday, I kicked up a total of seven deer, at 1pm! First a doe, then a decent buck with 3 doe, then 2 more doe. And I’m told this is a morning spot. Since I already have plenty of meat in the freezer, I am strictly head hunting today. I’m also told there are some big non typicals in there. Very excited. Cell service is spotty out there but I hope to be able to post some pics of my spot. Good luck to those able to make it out today! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

Found some plans online and put it together this afternoon.......forgot one 90 degree elbow but I can grab one tomorrow......lol. Going to spray it black and then wrap in fabric/ blind material to conceal us. Once we get it to the field we'll add some corn stalks to hide us better. With nothing to do because of covid I asked my boys if they wanted to try goose hunting so I called a buddy with experience and we are gonna give it a go Sunday. I will update as the build progresses. On the cheap i figure this will do ok concealing us and be other option for coyote or deer hunting. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk4 points

Went out last night for a shorter night of hunting. Was at a buddies property in marilla he was hunting for the first time this year, hasnt shot a yote in years. He warned me and another buddy he hasnt heard yotes in a month. Well thats a challenge than. Called for 35 minutes with nothing, then they lit up in a field to our right over a hill. We decided to move to them as they were probably 700ish yards away. When we crested the hill a hedgerow separated us from another field that ended at some woods 400 yards away. I spotted 2 coming out of those woods in the thermal. Placed the call out and we spread out a little. Hit them with a couple interogation howls and two came booking in across the field. I was the only one with night vision, my buddy the property owner was running red lights he was next to me. I watched the two work to our right and head thru the hedgerow. I kept communicating with him about where they were. Expecting him to get his light on as they were within 100 yards. One stopped maybe 75 yards away and i told him i was going to shoot, he asked where the other one was, i took the scope off one to find the other, i felt i needed to get him on one...but he never turned his light on. I got the 2nd one in my scope as it stopped for a second but he asked again where they were...needless to say they both retreated back to their tree line were they howled back and then the rest of the pack lit up, then another pack to our left and a single behind us. No shots fired, talked with the yotes for 1hr 45min. My buddy explained at the end he didnt want to turn his light on and mess up my view through my scope...then why worry where they are lol? Good times, happy i had them talking.4 points

I believe only the #1 seeds gets the bye this season since they expanded the playoffs, everyone else plays next week.4 points

So, here's a good thought exercise. If people were getting the sniffles and nobody was dying, would you support the government's ability to issue executive mandates? If people were turning into zombies and eating each other, would that change your mind? Somewhere in between those alternatives lies our current reality. If you answered yes to the second question, then, as the punchline to a famous joke goes, "What are you? I thought we'd established that, now we're just negotiating price." There's a line in the sand where folks decide that the situation mandates decisions being made for the public good by a central authority. Where that line occurs is really subjective, just like the viewpoints on how bad this surge will get. Ask a nurse in LA county and they'll likely have a different opinion that a rancher in Montana. But if that line exists for you, then it's really just a matter of negotiating what's enough. So, while I respect other's right to state their opinions, in our society majority rules (okay, theoretically and arguably lol). And siding with the authorities doesn't make people "sheep", as I've heard on here more than once. It just means they have a different viewpoint as to where their own line exists. It's not a failure to see what's in front of our faces. It's not fear. We're not lemmings. I myself analyze the numbers on a daily basis, and my decisions are driven by data. If they differ from yours, that sounds like the start of a good conversation.4 points

Blind is deployed and somewhat ready for the morning....took this pic before completely brushing in with stalks. Talked with my buddy.....we may actually move it in the morning closer to the standing corn in the next field over. Sent from my moto z3 using Tapatalk4 points

Entry to the woods across the creek Exiting the woods(monsta buck in gator) We also prepped a logging trail to the back of the property that allows us to avoid crossing any fields. Could be a game changer for morning hunts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk4 points

OK people, miles was a frikin' exaggeration One would think it would have been implied I mean long distances. Sheesh! LOL3 points
-
From miles away? That's doubtful. Hundreds of yards is definitely possible. My experience has been that a box call generally will carry further, especially in windy conditions. If you can afford one, pack it along, they don't weigh much. But in my opinion, no matter what part of the country you are in, if a tom is interested enough, the calls sound accurate, and he can hear you, there is a chance that he will make the trip. You just have to be out the day when the stars all line up. Good luck, & post a story & pictures if you are successful.3 points

A lot of things could be said about BILL, but not providing honest information is not one of them... As far as long boxes go, I do not have an opinion because I never have run one.. However there is a member of this forum who runs one and kills big gobblers every year in two states..3 points

Just made it home. Today didn’t turn out as anticipated. I never have any luck hunting before an incoming rain storm. I’m not sure why. The falling barometric pressure? The smell of the coming rain? Who knows? Not me. I saw the 2 bucks as i got there and then 2 doe and that’s it. The guy that gave me permission to hunt there was surprised that I didn’t see a dozen by 8am in that spot! Oh well. Better luck next weekend I hope.3 points

Thanks ! I am hopeful that my son (and daughter) continues to love the outdoors, and I'll try my best to give him every opportunity to enjoy it ! Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk3 points

I am gonna pass on the vaccine. I will not be getting the vaccine because, to be honest I am not scared of getting the virus. The fear the virus has caused on our society so far concerns me more. We as Americans have allowed the government to take away our individualism, livelihood, families, faith, and independence. I feel complying allows the government to continue to take from us, and future generations. At what point do we say enough.3 points

There's "NO COST" associated with this inquiry... As my post indicates, we hunt on state land out of an elk tent... We're just looking for 1 or 2 more "serious hunters with good navigational skills" to keep the camp alive. If you were accepted, your only obligation is to help set up and brake down the camp.. We usually do a 3 day "work weekend" at the beginning of the season that involves setting up camp and gathering firewood for the whole season. Cutting, transporting, splitting and stacking of the firewood is the extent of the heavy work involved... which means you've got to be in fairly good shape physically. Other than that, it's all about the hunt, and the good times in camp. At the end of a hunting day, we eat good, enjoy our cocktails, tell a few lies, and focus our attention on the next days hunt.3 points

Good thing you missed it. They eat lots of ticks. I started releasing the ones that I catch in box traps (set for coon) unharmed after learning that.3 points

I don't think China ever denied its existence. Hell, they pretty much put everyone in Wuhan under house arrest to stop the spread and it sure looked like it worked for them. Wearing masks to stop the spread of colds and flu in countries like China, Japan, Korea has been the norm long before COVID. We on the other hand are definitely deniers and all we care about is ourselves and could care less if we might spread it to someone it might kill. We even had a president who fanned the flames of ignorance. We consider something as simple as wearing a mask in public as an infringement of our freedom, so what more can we expect than to have this pandemic rage on for close to a year now while China where it originated seems to have things under control.2 points
-
We already do a lot of what China does right on this thread. Deny it exists, deny science, deny it is pandemic, regurgitate fake news and propaganda....and as long as you live and believe in that bubble/world you don't need a vaccine.2 points

Yes honeysuckle, easiest way to get rid of it is to hit with 4% gly in early spring as it is the 1st to leaf out. A hand sprayer works well or a backpack or atv sprayer if you have one. ( this is also best way to kill off multiflora rose as well) You can. Pull it but that tens to disturb soil and its seeds that are dormant will then grow. If you notice in bills video above they are only green in woods, gly will kill it and leave skeleton , those will be crushed down by snow and creatures in a year or two. This video is labor intensive ,i prefer less labor. If you want the dead skeletons removed or curshed down after killing by round up simply run over them with atv, tractor or bush hog. At that point roots are dead . Any new growth noticed can simply be hit with gly again.2 points

If just one or 2 of the fiberglass rods broke.. you can replace them.. I have replaced them with fiberglass snow blow markers.. cut to length, drill a whole and use a bolt or rivet...2 points

LOL, it just came to me after messing with Google. The kick start is under the red plastic logo'd cover on the right side of the machine.......you had to pop it off (three grommets with plugs held it in place) then you could fold the shifter in and replace the cover. A couple other things I saw on Google I forgot about were the detachable headlight and how the rear fenders and rack were hinged. You'd take the seat off and spin out a couple big headed knobs, then lift it up. Very cool but dangerous machine.2 points

Yea... today just wasn’t my day with them. I should’ve either ground the meat finer or found a slightly bigger stuffing tube. My 2.5 year old helper didn’t make it any easier... but at least she had fun.2 points

I bought a new Honda Big Red (3 wheeler) in 1986..........it never left me or anybody else stranded. I think I put a few batteries in it over the years and sold it to my uncle back in the pate 90's. He sold it about 5 years ago and I'd bet dollars to donuts it's still running like a champ.2 points

I'm the same way Pygmy. All I know for sure is that some are red, some are orange, and some are green. And I shoot them out of an old westernfield with a mod choke.2 points

So let me get this right. The CDC says the flu and pneumonia cases are down across the country because people are masking up. The CDC also says that this Covid crap is so high now and running rampant across the country because nobody is listening to the mask up rule. Now which one do you take as gospel at this time? Because I as long as 1000’s of others are just so confused!2 points
