You kinda crack me up, you say your all for background checks then complain about it . The time and price it takes to get the permit stops lots of people from getting them and that’s kinda what they want. Wait till the US government starts taxing all firearms , ammo etc .

Believing any of the current batch of Biden cohorts will unify this country is typical leftist utopian fantasy. They've already labeled ALL Trump supporters "domestic terrorists" and plan to use that to take away their right to free speech and right to protest oppressive legislation aimed at vilifying them. BTW, that is exactly what Obama/Biden did for 8 years. Why should anyone expect a different attitude over the next 4 years?

Last summer my dad told me he wanted to give me his old Smith and Wesson revolver. Knowing that I had to have a permit in NYS, I told him to hold on to it until I checked out the process. After seeing what I needed to do, and the first step being to “purchase” a handgun, I had him ship it to my FFL so I could get the receipt. This was late July. I scheduled for my course in August, and the next available class was early December. Fortunately, my county approved an online course in October, and I took it. $60 later, I had my certificate. When I called to make an appointment to drop my application off, they booked me for April 15th. I got a call this week saying they could fit me in today. After a $40 application fee, I was handed a card to make an appointment for fingerprints, that carry’s a $102 fee. I was also told that after my prints and references come back, it will be about 5 months before my application gets in front of a judge. So, after almost a year and $200 in fees, I’m hopeful I can get the handgun that my father has gifted me. I’ll be the first to advocate for Universal Background checks (hold your comments, I know that’s not a popular stance around here), but this is way overkill in my eyes. It also makes it nearly impossible for someone with limited means to obtain a pistol permit in my opinion. I’m fortunate that I can afford the fees, but not everyone has the financial or time resources. Sorry for the rant, but just wanted to vent some frustration.

Not that I expect to change anyone's mind, or sway anyone's opinion ( I won't), but somebody took the time to put into words what I see happening in our country right now. Criminals are caught-and-released to hurt more people, but stopping them is bad because it's a violation of THEIR rights. People who have never owned slaves should pay slavery reparations to people who have never been slaves. After legislating gender, if a dude pretends to be a woman, you are required to pretend with him. It was cool for Joe Biden to "blackmail" the President of Ukraine, but it’s an impeachable offense if Donald Trump inquiries about it. People who have never been to college should pay the debts of college students who took out huge loans for their degrees. Immigrants with tuberculosis and polio are welcome, but you’d better be able to prove your dog is vaccinated. Irish doctors and German engineers who want to immigrate to the US must go through a rigorous vetting process, but any illiterate gang-bangers who jump the southern fence are welcomed. $5 billion for border security is too expensive, but $1.5 trillion for “free” health care is not. If you cheat to get into college you go to prison, but if you cheat to get into the country you go to college for free. And, pointing out all this hypocrisy somehow makes us "racists"! Nothing makes sense anymore, no values, no morals, no civility and people are dying of a Chinese virus, but it is racist to refer to it as Chinese even though it began in China. We are clearly living in an upside-down world where right is wrong and wrong is right, where moral is immoral and immoral is moral, where good is evil and evil is good, where killing murderers is wrong, but killing innocent babies is right. But Joe Biden voters did have parades so I would not be so quick to group people up by the way they voted. Some people voted with their pocket book and on policy's and some people voted on personalities and feelings on both sides. I personally voted for the policy’s and my pocket book which made trump the better of the two picks for me. That said I would probably enjoy a beer and conversation better with Obama also I would not even want Joe Biden around my house or kids.

I will not speak for his politics but my boss who is CEO of our company and her husband, a former Army ranger are both graduates of the University of Delaware and far from being left wing liberals . They've been the guests of Biden several times at different functions and even dined in his house. They consider him to be a very decent and respectful individual who from their observations has the uncanny ability to remember people and their names even if he's met them only once and many years before. My boss is surely not complimentary of just anyone she meets, I can attest to that, but I'll take her opinion of Biden's character before I'll take opinions from anyone on this site who has never met the guy.

I was unable to find a trapping course for the umpteenth year in a row but my buddy has his so we set three traps close to home here. We got a big old raccoon and @dinorocks taught me how to skin and flesh it. You wont find a more knowledgeable guy than Dino and more importantly a guy with his willingness to teach and share. We also fleshed a deer hide and even found the bullet inside. Hes going to start an egg tan on it

No fooling . I haven't bought any ammo in a few years since I started reloading . I am set with .223 , 25-06 , 44mag , 20 and 12 gauge . Oh yeah , and 22 HP . The only reason I was in the ammo section was to check out some muzzle loading products .

Eddie a lot has changed since then ! There’s been a nation wide ammo shortage ,since last spring . It’s bad and getting worse , 7 million new gun owners ,civil unrest , and Biden’s proposed gun ,laws all adding to a run on ammo for almost a year now . There was a time I had abs , and hair too .

Well , except for the electoral college thing because then urban voters and urban interests would have too much power in such a system where popular vote was counted straight up. Honestly , it never ceases to amaze me how prescient the Founding Fathers were when they designed our current system of government . The electoral college ensures that ALL sections / regions of this great country are heard and have a significant Voice in our elections . Without said system , LA , NY City and Chicago would elect the president each and every election. NOT a good idea for any group to wield that much political power consistently !! Any governmental system without opposition or point of view will ultimately lead to tyranny and folly. Opposing point of view is necessary and is a positive good to ultimately arrive at the truth !

I think some of our officials try to do the right thing. Lots are there for their own reasons. The system is far from perfect,but it could be a lot worse too. I would welcome changes but it is very hard to do against the establishment and just the general slow motion of congress and the Senate. What is the alternative though? Democracy is a good idea on paper,but it is always people and greed that mess things up.This is on both sides of the isle. I think this two party system is flawed,there should be more options. I also think the electoral college should be abolished and every vote should count the same. Of course it doesn't matter much what i think,only to me. And i dont even take myself to terribly serious. Everyone looks at the world through their eyes,that is why Trump thinks he could not possibly have lost. He really thinks he is the greatest at about anything. But that is why we should have discussions,to try to understand a different point of view. I get frustrated when people making absolute statements when reality is much more nuanced than what we write down here. I may even be guilty of that too.

General Flynn probably advised Trump years ago on where the bodies are buried in DC, and the Demrats and RINOs are running terrified. otherwise, why the rush to get Trump out before the farcical inauguration on the 20th??? Trump isn't going to be there, so what's the big deal? Now I hear Nancy is scared of Trump and the nuclear codes and has the national guard on standby. Boy, can the dems make a mess or what. Great Post! Pretty much the way I feel about those issues. I had it put onto my Facebook page. A expression that I use is that "I feel like the old Confederate soldier, still loyal to a country that doesn't exist". Using "Confederate" in the sentence tends to "trigger" weak- kneed millenials and other liberals and obscures the underlying meaning to them.

Hey my Friend. This is a really good post and should be read by everyone. The problem is, there is no longer any middle ground. We have had many debates or conversations. They have always been civil but we do not agree. I wouldn't vote for what you would and vice versa. Do we have middle ground? I honestly don't have any idea. While I understand what you are saying when we debate, to me, the bad way way way out ways the good and there is no way i would vote for it. I also can't fathom "the right wing" as a bad thing...At least not the way it is portrayed. Why? Because we want the constitution followed the way it was intended? We want government to control their spending? Because we are tired of getting screwed over by laws that don't help the middle American like Obama Care. Because we want voting laws that insure the integrity of our elections? Because we don't agree with Illegal immigration and want it stopped? We want the 2nd amendment upheld? I could go on.... What is so horrible about these things? I also disagree that the Republican party doesn't have a message that people respond too. More people voted for Trump than anyone ever. Biden just got more....
