  1. ...by the way, my avatar (which I should probably change to something hunting related) is a photo of a "first find"...I was lucky enough to be the first person to find this particular mineral combination at a particular location (phosphorescence/fluorescent willemite (green) and fluorescent calcite (red) in a marble matrix) from West Pierrepont, NY). I named it "Amzinite" after my wife (Amy M. Zack)...not an official name but just what us rock nerds do. Parts of this rock are on display in museums across the world!

  2. Pulled the trigger and brought home a 2018 today. Only thing it doesn’t have I wish it did is the 36 gallon gas tank but honestly it’s not a huge deal. It has a few extras like heated seats and built in navigation that my last one didn’t. I’m looking forward to having this one for a while. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Figured I would throw this out there...tomorrow I will be giving a Zoom presentation on Fluorescent Minerals of Northern New York on behalf of the Penn Dixie fossil park. This presentation was originally scheduled for March of last year but got cancelled due to Covid. This particular presentation is very cool live (in person) but I think I can still do it justice via virtual. If interested, see link below (it will also be broadcasted on Facebook (no pre-registration required)); https://penndixie.org/2021/01/04/science-talks/ https://www.facebook.com/events/418164136050482/ Thanks for looking! 8. Thank you all very much. Yes it was a good day, got a cocobolo striker in to use on my turkey calls that I have been waiting for for a month, got in the final piece I need to use my new 70-300mm lens on my camera as well as an extra battery and charger for the truck to charge camera batteries and most seems to fit into the backpack I bought for my camera gear as well. Now I just have to get out there and do some shooting. I will be going out trapping tomorrow so that may present itself some opportunities for pictures, or at least I hope so. This is the backpack I bought to carry it all. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009R6TA/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_6?smid=A17MC6HOH9AVE6&psc=1

  13. An Abundance of Evidence There really was evidence, lots of it, that voter fraud and illegal electioneering took place on a massive scale in the November election. I’m not talking about exotic theories that voting machines controlled by communists in Venezuela and China switched millions of Trump votes to Biden (a convenient straw-man the corporate media constantly slays). I’m talking about old-fashioned, mundane stuff: people voting twice, dead people voting, cash-for-votes schemes, election workers ignoring state laws about the counting of absentee ballots, and courts changing the rules and deadlines for absentee ballots at the last minute. Much of it was perpetrated by Democratic political machines in places like Philadelphia and Detroit — cities infamous for corruption and election-rigging. We at The Federalist reported on it. We talked to poll challengers in Michigan who witnessed election workers counting ineligible absentee ballots and not allowing GOP observers to do their jobs. We talked to political insiders and volunteers in Philadelphia who described an election system thoroughly compromised by a corrupt Democratic machine. We chronicled an illegal scheme to bribe Native American voters on tribal lands in Nevada and Arizona with cash cards, electronics, and other “prizes” in exchange for votes. We reported on changes to mail-in voting in multiple battleground states, including Georgia, rammed through by state legislatures or issued by fiat from bureaucrats and judges, that made it easier to cheat with fraudulent or ineligible absentee ballots. Some of this was made possible by the often haphazard — and sometimes unlawful — expansion of absentee voting and extensions of absentee voting deadlines, all under the pretext that COVID-19 justified radical changes to how we vote (it didn’t). The result, in some states, was what amounted to a chaotic experiment in mass mail-in voting. Dozens of states made changes to absentee voting, some more drastic than others. Nine states along with Washington, D.C., took the extraordinary step of mailing actual ballots to every voter on the rolls. Others did away entirely with eligibility requirements for mail-in ballots, introducing “no-excuse” absentee voting. Still others introduced novel procedures for “curing” incomplete absentee ballots that would normally be thrown out. The corporate press ignored all of it, just as they ignored any story that might have hurt Biden during the campaign. Their goal was and is to get Democrats elected, period. They don’t care about being fair, or telling the truth, or keeping their readers informed about reality. If they did, they would have reported on this stuff instead of lumping it all together as so many conspiracy theories.

  14. I have given many geology talks regarding the landscape we hunt to various sportsmen’s clubs. That would be of more interest to this group. Basically I explain the local geology (depending on where in NY I’m lecturing) and how, in some places, the glaciers sculpted what we now see. Many times I will bring a group on a hike along a creek (where the water removes what the glaciers left behind and exposes bedrock)...as I’m typing this, I remember giving a geology talk to a bunch of paddlers on Hemlock Lake (that’s where Genesee Brewery got/gets it water for their beer)...that talk was through Eastern Mountain Sports. So much to see/learn outdoors when you take the time to appreciate it and take it all in!!

  15. Doesn’t this now scream opportunity for a middle of the road THIRD PARTY to get their act together and represent the majority of the country. The flaming left and right represent a tiny fraction of this country. The large majority want to meet in the middle regardless of the propaganda from both sides. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. All valid points. But, not exactly honest to pretend that this all just started in 2016. Obama dealt with all manner of disrespect and obstruction from the beginning of his presidency- the 'birther movement', for example. Both sides are guilty and only want to hold the other side responsible, never their own.

  17. Now Biden proudly states his intent to destroy the NRA. Again folks, don't forget those on this board who so fiercely campaigned for this awesome pair of public servants. So when you start seeing your rights slip away, don't let them forget either.

  21. I agree with you that both sides are guilty but I think your wrong about the level of disrespect Endured By Obama . What nauseated me was the love affair between he and the media that permeated the internet and TV over his 8 year presidency . In contrast , Trump was assailed attacked , scorned etc. well before he was even inaugurated !! And, this continued throughout his entire Presidency (remember the faux impeachment ). Now , I could be wrong , but The only time I can remember blatant disrespect directed towards Obama Was in his state of the union address -the first year - when that dude from SC hollered out “you lie!” In the middle of his speech. That was definitely messed up but Is a far cry from the daily barrage of disrespect, vitriol and pure hate coming from left on a daily basis Endured by this President . You know what I wish? BOTH sides learn to Effectively Communicate in a civil and respectable manner and agree to disagree Like gentleman ( or women lol) . How about that as a goal for 2021!!

  26. Just remember....the slip dont mean squat after a misunderstanding. Be sure to ask the land owner particular areas he does NOT want you in, as well as his land borders. Access, parking areas, and I would give him written description of yours or allowed others vehicles. Make sure the owner is ok with the use of ATVs and where. Be sure he meets in person any other hunters, and that they fully understand and will abide by the owners understanding. The one time someone "new" tags along, with you or one of the others, may very well be the last time anyone is ever allowed. Permission slips are a good idea, but it all goes out the window without hunter/landowners thorough understanding.

  27. What I meant to say is that I wouldn't be surprised if that box of 500 goes for $100, so roughly .20 / round. That's right around what @Don_C says he paid. If .22 rounds ever actually hit $1/rd, I might have to find a new hobby..

  29. We win almost all the games we used to routinely lose. For example this year we got out in front of the Pats, Rams, and Seahawks and let them come back but slammed the door at the end. Got a nice break from Cam but fumbles are forced. If we lost Saturday that non fumble call would have been right there with "no goal" in Buffalo history

  34. Wrong. it's about suppressing speech coming from the opposition. Not only is it unconstitutional, it's totalitarian and used to manipulate the masses. And it's the sole possession of leftists right now. There is already far too many areas where free speech is banned in America. College campuses being the worst offenders. Social media coming in 2nd. If you don't think that's something to squawk about, you can't complain about it when your rights and freedoms are gone.

Any reason to go off on a tirade of incessant over the top political rants. What happens if they do take web sites down? Are you really that addicted to a freaking electronic device or web forum that you would stop breathing? It's the same old dance, neither side wants the other to have a say. NEITHER SIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. We get it, you were at a playoff game. You state it enough, no need to double post about it. If Cleveland plays the Chiefs like they did the Steelers it will be Gohomes, not Mahomes. GO BROWNS! I can see Buffalo beating the Ravens. I'm a huge skeptic when it comes to my team, too many let downs over the years. Yet I think if they keep it together they can beat anyone right now though. I really wish we had more of a running game other then Allen. He takes too many risks when he runs the ball. We need a running back that goes forward, not sideline to sideline.

  37. Biden's Tweet an Attack on Gun Owners Joe Biden’s Twitter message to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords may read like a threat against one gun rights organization, but it is really an attack on every gun owner in the nation, the Second Amendment Foundation said today. Biden pledged to work with Giffords on her extremist gun control agenda, and promised to “defeat the NRA,” in the process, but SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb said that’s just cover for a bigger goal. “Joe Biden has labored relentlessly for decades to reduce the Second Amendment to rubble,” Gottlieb stated. “He may attack one group by name, but his goal is to crush the rights of every gun owner in our country. “By attacking the Second Amendment Rights of 100 million Americans,” Gottlieb continued, “Biden is not bringing us together but dividing us further. If people take to the streets in protest, if violence occurs it will be his fault and he should be impeached for violating our constitutional rights and inciting violence. Maybe it is time to ban him from Twitter and Facebook!” SAF is running a one-minute message 40 times this week, on several national networks, to educate millions of law-abiding gun owners about the gun rights battle. This message will appear on DirecTV, Fox News, Fox Business, CNN, MSNBC, The Weather Channel, One America News Network, CNBC, HLN, Bloomberg and Dish TV. “Joe Biden isn’t fooling anybody,” Gottlieb observed. “He spent 47 years on Capitol Hill trying to turn the right to keep and bear arms into a regulated privilege. Now that he’s headed to the White House, he thinks he will be able to complete his mission. We’re working to to stop him.” “We didn’t start the fire, Biden did,” he said. The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is a group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.

  39. Your so politically blind, you should get disability benefits. For the last 9 months 30 cities around the US have seen riots, looting, murder and other mayhem, yet noone on the left has done anything, but support them and even bail them out of jail. Lets not forget the Dem 1% calling for the Defunding of the Police, being led by Camala toe herself. I could fill this post with examples, but it will do no good when the High + Mighty people who are calling for civility, are leading the charge with vitriol and censorship. The communist manifesto come's to life, right here, right now.

  45. I will ignore your "ignorant" characterisation and not respond in kind. The point is in 1938 a political group attacked citizens (Jews). In 2020, a group (too much credit to call them political) attacked the government, not citizens. If they, had attacked a particular group of citizens it would be comparable. I am not defending either attack. I am just pointing out the significant difference in the two incidents. Truth be told, what happened in the Capitol is not even close to what happened to the Jews in 1938. The analogy is arguably reprehensible because it diminishes what happened in 1938!
