  1. After all the bad news in the world lets take a minute to dream ....... WTF are you gonna do if you win the Mega tonite???? Me - give most of it away to good causes, family and friends. Have just enough to spend on some land for sale nearby (500+ acres) that I would put a log cabin on and probably never be seen again except during fishing season between bouy 107 and 109. How bout you?? the $2.00 is worth it just to think about it....... For the forum members I would get - Turkeyfeathers - a golden ticket to every craft brewery in NY that says "I can drink all i damn want to" Tacks - Fly fishing lessons from Hank Patterson Moog - a full time expert coyote distance spotter Treeguy - Lake Ontario Lomax - full indoor plumbing, electric and wifi for the buckform so he never has to leave Pygmy - 51% ownership of Mables Lawd - a third buck tag every year Biz - North American sheep slam for ewes Dinorocks- i would take everything away that has electricity or was invented after 1950 cause you dont need it Crappyice - unlimited snow days Grampy - anything he wants for being such a nice guy Otto - portable hook out kits for when we are fishing and i hurt myself again Bionic - Maine Thats just a start! lol

  2. After many hours of constructing and testing different prototypes, my brother and I just finished making a couple sets of curling stones for our ice rink last night. They weigh in at an official weight of 44 pounds each. Now all we need is some cold weather to harden up the ice so we can lay out the lines and pebble the ice surface. We tested several different methods of making lines (and circles) on the ice and found that routering about ½ inch deep into the ice and using brightly colored crate paper covered with water works the best. In previous years, we put LED lights under the ice to mark our hockey lines. A couple weeks back we put up a 30 ft pole with 300 Watt LED lights…very bright! Our rink is about 40 ft by 100 ft. Our plan is to start a couples curling league with some of our friends. Below are a few pics.

  3. A while back I purchased a new scope for my 6.5 Grendel, which has become my predator hunting day rig. It included a mount that worked fine on the rifle he had, but when I mounted it on mine, the adjustment ring on the bell of the scope was ever so slightly touching the top rail of my hand guard. I shot It like that a few times, and just didn’t feel comfortable with it, so I picked Up a slightly taller Vortex cantilever mount. This one is perfect, just the right clearance. I also added a Vortex Venom holo sight at a 45 degree angle to handle those short range shots when critters pop out close to me. I’m just waiting on some bullets I ordered So I can Load up some empty brass and get it sighted in. This setup should be absolutely perfect for daytime hunting and whenever I choose to hunt under lights at night.

  5. I learned today that the huge 12 acre Remington ammo plant in Arkansas was down to a skeleton crew of 200 employees during their bankruptcy. Last week the new owners started hiring 1,000 employees to crank up to maximum production. Considering that this was one of the largest ammo plants in the country it's no wonder ammo supplies have been tight.

  8. The faith shared by this family is truly something special. Moog is an admirable man of faith greater than most, and when tested his faith only grew stronger. Ana was just as strong through her battle, and now gets to enjoy her eternity. We all hoped and prayed for a miracle, and even though it didn't happen the way we selfishly wanted, we still get to rejoice for her passing knowing she's celebrating in heaven. You and your family is in our thoughts, brother. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

  15. Quiet night so far. Heard a couple packs far off. I howled a few times about an hour ago, no answers. There were deer about 200 yards from the bait when I got here, they trotted off not real alarmed. Comfy in my down gear in my flying outhouse! Probably hang out til midnight.

  19. #greg54 - Your fossil appears to be a type of rugose coral or bryozoa…both fairly common fossils in western NY, but very cool, none the less. And when they are naturally rounded by the wave action of the lake, they are especially neat! I’ll confirm the exact name of your fossil later after I look it up in one of my books. #ncountry - The rock you saw in Lechworth is a septarian limestone concretion…probably the most common rock ID question I get. Immediately across the street from the ZCA West Pierrepont entrance is (was) the Finlay Farm, which is a famous local for hematite crystals (called the Pierrepont iron rose locality) #grampy - There is very minor gold found in NY but it can be found…most of which is in the form of placer deposits. This gold consists of very small flakes or “flour” found in creeks and rivers…typically in bedrock fractures and plunge pools as gold is very dense and settles into these low areas (and the finer, less dense sediments wash away from the current). The placer gold was most likely deposited from the glaciers 10’s of thousands of years ago (i.e., rock transported to our area via glaciers from the Canadian Shield…those glaciers were a mile thick so they easily eroded into the bedrock). Due to the very small size of this type of gold in NY, it can be panned but special panning techniques need to be used. There are also reports of lode deposits of gold found in NY; this is gold found in rock veins like quartz (“bull quartz”)…or if the gold weathers out of the rock, it can be found in nugget form. Areas in NY where lode gold could be found would be along the eastern side of the state, north of NYC, along Mass, and VT (in the igneous and metamorphic rocks…not the sedimentary rocks in western and central NY). However, it is very interesting to note that any gold (or silver or other precious minerals) found in NY, on public or private property, is the property of New York State. You can prospect for it but cannot legally keep it. This is a law that dates back to 1776 and is probably the reason you don’t hear much about gold prospecting in NY…the prospectors want to keep it hush-hush. Note mica flakes are commonly mistaken for gold when panning.

  21. YouTube has banned all videos discussing election fraud, and Facebook shut down #WalkAway, which encouraged people to leave the Democrat Party. The National Association of Realtors revised its professional ethics code to ban "hate speech and harassing speech" by its members, written or spoken, public or private, 24/7/365. Hotel giant Marriott, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, Commerce Bancshare, and others are suspending donations to Republicans they dub the "treason caucus" for daring to question the validity of the election. And Forbes magazine's Chief Content Officer Randall Lane has warned that if any company hires one of Trump's "fabulists," "Forbes will assume that everything your company or firm talks about is a lie." Such examples are the tip of the totalitarian iceberg, but the motivation behind it all can be reduced to a single word: vengeance.

  23. There's no better way to gain support from the other side of the aisle, then by insulting them. I expect no less from a slave that's only regurgitating what their master has told them to say. Reason and Fact based Discourse ? You would need an open mind to discuss them and you've proven that's way above your pay grade. Maybe one of your Marxist Czars, or AOC would do a better job, but I doubt it, as their too busy depositing donations into their bank accounts, while your hiding in fear from Covid and climate change.

This piece of garbage has been arrested multiple times participating in BLM/ANTIFA riots and is a known ANTIFA activist. ( Google it and itll come up so i dont have to post a link!!) No doubt now that ANTIFA was involved !!!

  27. If you have a choke lever separate from the throttle and the engine only stays running when choked, then your carburetor has a fuel blockage causing it to be too lean(not enough fuel). The only way to balance the fuel air mixture is to restrict the air by choking it. That's why it runs better on choke. AKA: clean the carb

  33. Cook over indirect heat until done and then finish over direct heat to crisp up. I like to brush with sauce when crisp and then grill a couple more minutes over the direct heat. Here's some I did this past summer in the crisping up stage. Put a foil pan under when doing indirect heat or the next time you fire up the grill you will have an inferno (I know from experience). We actually prefer them this way to deep fried.

  34. My partner had a couple slow days on the checks. Hit a red on a set today that was made about 5 weeks ago. rebedded once a few weeks back when a deer stepped in it. finally hit something there. There had been sign and it sure looked like a good location but it's been quiet there since we set it.

  38. I plow with my 2017 pioneer. One of the main reasons I bought it. It beats shoveling. I agree there are limitations do to the machines weight. I also use my snowplow for food plot work, and clearing in the spring. I would be more leery of a machine that someone used for weekend trail riding with their buddies.

  39. The Honda engine on my wood splitter did that a couple years ago. I took the air filter off and sprayed in some carburetor cleaner. Soon it was back to normal, and has been good ever since. I have had way less trouble with my small engines, since I started running nothing but ethanol free gas in them, about 5 years ago. That one little glitch has been it. It is well worth the extra 50 cents a gallon. I also add stabilizer to the ethanol free gas. I have around a dozen small engines, about half of which are 2 strokes. The only ones I use ethanol gas in are my two lawnmowers, during cutting season. The last fill of the year on those is also ethanol-free with stabilizer.

  40. For you guys that are into shooting handguns I recommend a product called G-Sight. I’ve had mine for a couple years and it really is a great training/practice aid. It’s also a lot of fun playing around with a few buddies. I had one at camp all year deer season and we played with it almost every night. It’s a laser trainer that has an app on your phone that records the shots. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  41. Well the check this morning held a decent sized female. Worked a compass set that was set on sign about 2 weeks ago. Hoping to get into another property for beaver so I whipped up some top side drowner anchor stakes. We were running on our spare hammer becaseu I had the weld snap on the one we bought. I replaced the handle of it with 3/4" gas pipe so this should hold up. I beat the hell out of it this weekend chipping trap beds and driving anchors so I'm confident those welds will hold up long term.

  42. ...by the way, my avatar (which I should probably change to something hunting related) is a photo of a "first find"...I was lucky enough to be the first person to find this particular mineral combination at a particular location (phosphorescence/fluorescent willemite (green) and fluorescent calcite (red) in a marble matrix) from West Pierrepont, NY). I named it "Amzinite" after my wife (Amy M. Zack)...not an official name but just what us rock nerds do. Parts of this rock are on display in museums across the world!
