  2. Stumbled across a very nice old Smith and Wesson 29-2 .44 magnum. It has the target hammer and trigger in it. This might have the smoothest action out if all of my revolvers. This one has the 8 3/8s inch barrel which balances quite well. I cant wait to take it into the woods next fall. Ammo has been a challenge to find as expected. Sorry for the crappy pictures

  4. Ever watch this show, it's fairly new. I hate winter but Florida...no thanks. Tourism prob went down 50% just cause of this show. Lol. Amazing how many they find and how they have been able to reproduce so quickly. I wasn't a big fan of the gator show they had but this one was pretty good.

  7. I watch that show, but like all reality shows, well it’s a show . They do hire snake hunters and the pay can be good , but you don’t catch them with your hands like on the show, they shoot them . I read about one guy who carries a 12ga, 9mm and .22mag, plus big knives .... Fun show though .

  11. Registered Republican, but actual Libertarian here. I respect every sane person's opinion. But I cannot agree when their actions work to restrict my current freedoms or work to take money from me that I have earned, to give to others who can't be bothered to earn it themselves.

  13. As I'm sure youve all noticed, theres been alot of controversy around here as of late centered around my man VH lol. Based on several of the posts that I've read, it appears that there is a belief shared by, at least some, that hunting and the holding of liberal political views are incompatible, a belief that --I assume-- is mostly centered on 2nd amendment rights and its protection. Now, In NO WAY am I speaking for anyone, but I think its fair and accurate to describe the vast majority of members on this forum as fairly conservative and who tend to vote Republican. I , myself am included in the masses assumed here and identify my views as being predominantly Center-right . I'm pro-gun, pro strong national defense, pro capitalist and VERY patriotic; however, I'm also prochoice and , although not fond of gay marriage, I would not oppose it either as I find such a position to be hypocritical to our values and belief system (i.e., everyone has a right to invidual pursuit of happiness, you know, that sort of shit lol). Anyway, a few guys on here appear (an assumption i'm making purely on the content and nature of their posts, mind you) to hold political views that I would describe as liberal, or left leaning at the very least. Thats totally fine w me and actually, I've enjoyed much of the discourse weve had the past several weeks. Sometimes it gets a little nasty--which is regrettable-- but other than that, I think that debate and sharing of ideas is a good thing and truly hope it continues. So overall, I would say that hunting and being liberal are NOT mutually exclusive AS LONG AS THOSE LIBERAL VIEWS YOU HAVE DO NOT INFRINGE/RESRICT OR REDUCE THE PROTECTIONS PROVIDED BY THE 2ND A. IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM!!. If your political belief system however, does include a weakening/removal of said rights , then I admit --and i think many others on here would agree with me on this--that I dont get you!! What do you think?

  22. I think the extremism, on both ends of the political spectrum, are what's tearing the heart out of America. Most folks in the middle, can usually find some common ground. But.....common ground seems to be in as short supply as ammunition these days.

  25. We have a horseshoe couch in the family room - 3 walls of windows. We could almost set a watch by where our Brittany was sitting on the couch as he rotated to maximize his exposure! The only bed he was allowed in was my daughter’s. She made a strong argument at 5 that “it’s not fair! I am the only one that has to sleep alone-mommy and daddy sleep together and the twins share a room-Trico should sleep with me.” Every night he would dutifully jump in her bed, lay down with her and when she fell asleep, he would jump down from the bed and scratch her door to be let out. He would hang out with us until we went to bed and then go back in her room for the night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  30. Are "Hunting" and "Liberal" mutually exclusive terms? I'll respond literally. No, they are not mutually exclusive. My wife would argue that I am definitely a liberal hunter. Saying I hunt what I want, whenever I want, as much as I want, and never ask her about it. I would argue that I am definitely a conservative hunter, I only hunt certain species, only when in season, never as much as I would like, and always tell her when I am going.

  31. You are being overly simplistic and short sighted if you think Trump "turned Americans against each other". The divide was already there thanks to both parties political leadership & MSM and in fact it is what got him elected the first time (forget the deplorables comment, clinging to guns and bible comments)) and almost the second (~half the popular vote). Appreciate too, many people in 2016 were fed up with the status quo and career politicians, America was already divided, and embraced an outsider they thought would/could unify. Unfortunately, this experiment failed.

  33. Tastes like chicken, the dog. Not the deer. Hunted fallow in Spain, very good table fare. Took one of mine to the hotel I was staying that had a bistro type place on first floor. They made a couple dishes with that and a whole neighborhood showed up for one heck of a party. They did up my mouflon sheep too. Honest, of everything I have eaten in the cervid family, whitetail is on the bottom of just about any game I have tried. A 13yr old tahr (type of goat) is right there too. Also on the dog thing, everywhere but here, having a tracking dog is part and parcel to ethical hunting. Dog goes right in the field with you, not just when you can't find something. Some of the dogs I have hunted with track 4-500 animals a year. Especially true on game ranches in South Africa. The dog gets to track even bang flops, just to keep in practice. With hunting dogs, running baboons with specialist dogs is the single best time i have ever had afield.

  34. I had my wife take the course at our local Sportsmens Club - https://www.rcsportsmensclub.org/ She asked me to sit with her and help her but I declined because I wanted her to learn as much as she could without listening to me , the Instructor had her fire a Black Powder gun and a couple rounds of .22 , she was thrilled to no end when she received a 100 on her test ! And yeah I've been hearing about it ever since , but she did it on her own !

  35. I think she’s the same one I started seeing last winter. Never saw one before that. She’s part of a flock that passes behind the house regularly on the way to the neighbor’s corn field. She disappeared during archery season.

  36. I think it's important to realize conservatives and liberals actually support many of the same things. They both support the Constitution and individual liberty, but liberals extend their support to many things considered fringe rights, or even radical rights, by conservatives. They both support the 2nd Amendment, though liberals may be more open to infringement, based on the misguided belief it improves safety. The problem is the leftists. They do not support the Constitution, individual rights, the 2nd Amendment or hunting. They are the people who think the government should be bigger and all powerful and dictate how everyone can live their lives. At best, they might support European style aristocratic rule over all hunting. These leftists have infiltrated the liberal groups to the point of hijacking many of the issues they get involved in. That's why the Democrat party has taken such a hard left turn of late. Leftists and hunting do not mix well at all.

  37. He's not opting out. That's why the Rockies were willing to send $50 million along with him. Otherwise they could have made life hard for him and let him opt out at the end of the year and just pay the 1 year at $33 (million). If Mookie Betts is only getting $30 per year, Arenado is not going to find anyone willing to spend $33 per year for a 30-31 year old.

  39. Erie county soil and water has chestnuts and crabappes this year, a local nursery in wny is shecktels in springville. But a quick search should show up close if you want larger plants. I've had very good luck with national arbor association trees/shrubs as well and are guaranteed they will not ship early if local weather prevents it.

  41. Hunted either end of the Quebec caribou season and the winter animals were good too. Ridiculous cold. Shame those days wont happen again with population crash. Have had red deer in Portugal, Spain, and New Zealand similar to elk imo. Axis deer is also outstanding, and you'd rank it right up there. Have had moose from various places and it never has disappointed. Top 5 overall in no order, Caribou, Kudu, Zebra, Moose, Springbok Top 5 eating deer family Caribou, Moose,Elk, Axis, Fallow

  42. Sounds just like NJ. The do-gooders have no idea what happens when too many human-bear interactions occur. Talking nicely or pleading with a bear will not stop it from taking your baby or family pet.

  44. I've been looking for a second dog for six months and this little girl won me over. Eight week old pure redbone coonhound. Only negative is i wont spend as much time at my cabin this year as i would have. Sweet girl, she had a blast as soon as I got her home. My dog was very confused at first but has already started playing with her. I lived in Hawaii for years and will miss it till the day I die, so I try and carry it into other parts of my life, this little girl is now named Kona.
