  1. Update: I ordered a boat. I did a ton of price comparing, features, sat in them etc... For the money/features I had narrowed it down to the Tracker Targa 18' with the 150 Mercury or the Tracker Pro Guide 175. I ended up ordering the Pro Guide, here's my reasoning why. The Targa is a bigger boat all around (although only 5" longer and about 5" wider than the Pro). It has a tandem axle trailer with brakes, 11" wide gunwales, 70pd thrust Minn Kota (non ipilot), 150 hp which should move it along at 45mph. It has more storage than the Pro Guide but not by a drastic amount. The reasons I chose the 175 are, I can get it with the 115 Mercury Pro XS motor which will push the boat at 45-47 mph (as fast as the Targa with a 150). It will probably troll a bit better with the 115 also. Even though the Targa is 5" wider, the gunwales on it are 11" wide on both sides so you actually lose a bit of interior width, so the 175 actually has more useable beam width. The 175 is only 5" shorter than the Targa so not much there. The interior depth is only 2" deeper in the Targa (not a huge deal to me). Neither boat comes standard with ipilot trolling motor so I'll have to pay on either boat to get gps, (about $500). They both carry about the same payload, even though the Targa is 1,000 lbs heavier. The 175 trailer is a single axle/non brake version where the Targa is dual axle with brakes, so just more potential for larger maintenance costs on the Targa trailer. I ordered the vinyl floor upgrade, throughout the entire boat, ordered a trailering cover, bimini top and the windshield to bimini top piece also. All said and done I think for MY main uses the 175 was a better choice. It'll still handle 4 adults relatively easy, be easier to manage by myself, save me about $7k initially to put into new graphs and upgrades later on, will trailer easier being lighter and single axle. It will handle Oneida perfectly and Ontario on the right days. The wait time on orders is 10-12 weeks but the rep said they've been getting them in about half of that time. Total cost on the 175 (minus tax, tags etc) is $32,000. I've been researching boats for a year, and went back and forth a lot on what I wanted/needed and I think I've landed on what I needed and 90% of what I wanted. And I should have it before the Walleye opener if all goes well. The picture below is essentially the exact boat, I ordered it in black (the wife did not like the red) with the motor upgrade to the 115 Merc Pro XS. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

  5. I'm working on it. Got a plan. It's gonna be based like a pickem league. Will setup a score sheet for everyone to post their pick each week for 12 week season. Can pick any member for that week and can only pick them once during season. Also going to include points for bear. Will setup on thread for sheets and scores only and one thread for trash talk etc. I think it will be fun. Will post it around Sept 1 to join in. Been working on it a bit.

  10. There's an adage in cold weather gear. Cotton kills. It holds water and loses it thermal use. It also keeps moisture against the skin and doesn't breathe. Buy some Tholo or Smartwool socks, Darn Tough is good too. I dont even own anything cotton for outdoors (frankly indoors either, hate the stuff, I own one pair of denim pants that I never wear). I'm all synthetics with a tiny bit of wool blends outside/work.

  13. Well the fact that team 2 smoke team 1 with less guys blows that theory away. I will say that EHD, lack of acorns and the amount of time cuomo was in our area are the primary reasons for Team 1’s poor showing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Deer season is pretty much over for me. Tagged out, got two nice bucks, was a great season! Now on to playing music! Got a big solo gig coming up in a couple weeks. A private party I've done for a few years now. Last year had well over 300 people there. They say more will be there this year! Cool! And they pay well. So I need to get in shape to give em their moneys worth! Been getting away from playing gigs for awhile now. Figured, "hell your just to old". Haven't played in a band in years, and don't care to anymore. But have helped out, and filled in on occasion when asked. I do enjoy going downstairs to play for myself, or at a campfire. But was thinking tonight, I may just book some parties and restaurant/bar gigs for this summer? I still get calls to do em. Hey....why not! I'm not dead yet! I play stuff from the 50s to some current stuff. Hank to Bruno Mars. Country, bluegrass, folk, rock, oldies, fast, slow any way ya want me to go. With an original or two thrown in. Seems to work. Almost always get asked to come back? Guess when I dont get asked to come back, then maybe then I'll be too old? What are some of your hobby's not associated with hunting?

  15. I wish it was that simple. Until Americans wake up and see it is not a "left" thing, it is a top layer of entrenched, entitled Republicans/Democrats who cling to power thing, who buy pitting our citizens against each other protect their interests and not our country's. This is why they so badly hated and feared Trump! He was the average American's chance to give a big middle finger to them! I pray (yes pray) Americans come together as citizens, not remain blindly loyal to any party, and for once see who is zooming who! If the Mike Lindell video is a farce, why is there so much effort to bury it? And, if it is true, why are our officials of all party affiliations and all levels not sounding the alarm that we were attacked , and guiding us on how we are to respond?

  17. Leftists want everyone to believe there is no evidence while they spend all there time suppressing it. Anyone who exposes the truth is in real danger too. If there was nothing to worry about, the left would allow all of this to be freely spoken, knowing the truth would show it's all propaganda. Preventing this discussion from happening proves they are hiding something.

  30. Thats too funny. I have a trunk of old cards, sets and autographs. My uncle owned a sporting goods store and was heavy into collecting. Did tons of card shows across the east coast. I was fortunate enough to get paid in collectibles. I have some really valuable cards and autographs because of him.

  31. Sweet rig Chris! That will def do the job about anywhere you want to take it. Congrats! I did an upgrade on the fish finder. If it's the same one that's in the package I had you'll want to upgrade that. With getting the boat you should get a VIP bass pro card and get like 10% off and tracker service will install a new one for free. Does that come with a 24v trolling motor system? Might want to consider that as that's a bigger rig and one battery might wear out quicker if planning to troll with that and on on board charger to just plug into. I also found out after using it that the hand control for the trolling motor works great and I never use the foot control. So I could have done without that and saved some money. I really enjoy mine. I have the tracker 16 super guide. I almost bought the 16.5 pro guide as it wasn't too much more , but I didn't need such a large gas tank (23 gallon), and if I did go bigger figured I would also want a 24 v trolling motor system which was going to drive the price up even more etc. But I would have liked the more room and width. I must've drove out to look at them 5-6 times. Lol. Can't wait to see on the water pics! Awesome rig.

  32. He was winning, Iraq and Afghanistan, I was in both countries under George W and again under Obummer. I can tell you from first hand experience that barry got a whole bunch of US soldiers killed with his failed leadership. Now I still question why we were there to begin with but when we were there under GW’s presidency we were certainly in much better shape than when Barry took over! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  34. Speaking of questionable wars, including the "more recent one" you mentioned, along with a couple other questionable ones: What two things do Jefferson Davis (Civil), Harry Truman (Korea), and John Kennedy (Vietnam) have in common ? Answer: They were all Democrats who led their country in wars that were not "won". Also, in all 3 cases, it was Republican Presidents (Lincoln, Eisenhower, and Nixon) who ended these pointless struggles. Think about that next time you cast a vote.

  35. Ok so you understand wrong... vaccines in general do not prevent a virus from entering your body. They prevent you from developing clinical diseases. The Pfizer and moderna are 95% effective at this. They are 100% effective at preventing hospitalization and death. This would allow society to return to normal. As far as transmission goes. It most likely will stop Transmission they just can’t say for sure yet. Get better news sources Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  37. I agree with the first half of your statement. I certainly would have to be snapping my heels to attention if it wasn't for Americas involvement in the 2nd World war. That was quite a while ago though and obviously a good and justified cause. The more recent history of wars starting at Vietnam is more debatable. I get defending your country is noble, but getting sent to far off places for dubious reasons is not. National pride is fine, just dont let it be blind is all.

  39. In my younger days, we used to rent a big old Adirondack lake house for a long weekend each year, for a snowmobile trip. It was decorated nice, with old wooden snowshoes on the wall and a fancy antique wood sled for a coffee table in the living room. One calm sunny, superbowl Sunday morning I wanted to ice fish. It had been warm earlier and there was a layer of water, under about a foot of powdery snow. Walking with just boots was impossible, if you wanted to keep your feet dry. Those wall decorations came in very handy for me on that trip. So did the sled. I ended up catching a few trout and some whitefish that were excellent smoked with apple wood. When I was finished with the "borrowed decorations", I put them back in position, no worse for the wear. They were very old, long wooden ones with leather bindings. They looked to have been hand-crafted by an eskimo in the 1800's. I have a set of short wood bear-paw style ones now, with one piece rubber bindings. I use them on occasion, for weekend excersize walks or for ice fishing. The snow is seldom deep enough to need them anymore. I get a lot more mileage, but significantly less excersize, from my cross country ski's.

  40. In addition to what is noted above the ballistic reticles are usually aligned with three 50 gr pellets of 777; newer ones allow for custom calculations. Can't say I like them nearly as much in the MZ as I do in the shotguns, which are hard to find now. Mostly because I use BH209. I also find that it doesn't matter at most MZ ranges. The popular shotgun ones are worth $$$, too. While looking for ammo at a local joint, I came across a NIB slughunter collecting dust in a glass case for $200 out the door. It flipped for more than $400 almost immediately on eBay and gave me a solid $200 to put into the slush fund.
