  1. My nephew Ryan was given this award in front of the whole academy yesterday. He also earned top shot in his battalion The award is only given to one person per school / military academy. Recommendations by the ROTC staff of the Institutions will be based upon basic criteria established by the Services regarding academic standing, class enrollment and other standards or eligibility. The National Sojourners criteria is that the recipient must have encouraged and demonstrated the ideals of Americanism by deed or conduct or both; and that the recipient demonstrated a potential for outstanding leadership. There is no restriction of the award based upon race, religion or sex, other than ~e student must be enrolled in a Department of Defense authorized Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Normally, only one medal is presented by each ROTC unit. Preferably the recipient should be a sophomore or junior so that the medal may be worn for a year or more. Most schools select recipients who rank in the top 25°/o of their class academically.

  2. Been awhile since I’ve been on. Life just got in the way. Got my 2020 gun buck back yesterday. I’m pretty stoked on how it turned out too. Thanks again Gman for allowing the opportunity at him. Trail cam pics are a nice addition having a little history with him knowing he was out there somewhere. After burning myself out during archery and seeing nothing but forks , spikes and not even a doe inside 30 yards I was getting humbled pretty quick. Opening day of gun I had a doe n 2 fawn at 90 yards or so with no shot. Left at 10:15 am. 2nd day of gun I turned off the 4 am alarm. Woke up at 7:30. Gman text me “ fresh snow “ with a pic. Well crap , love how deer stand out in the snow. And always noticed that first good snow deer get wonky and on their feet. Arrive at Greg’s at 10 or so. Take a long slow walk back to a wooden platform stand. Kicked up two tails on the way , neither were in a huge hurry. Fresh tracks all along the way too. Climb up wooden ladder. Take out bow hook to screw in tree to hang gun. Detach seat pad attached to backpack. Go to sit down and gun still swinging on tree. My ass not even sitting yet. Crunch crunch crunch to my left and behind me. I peer quickly and see horns .I don’t know if he’s a nice 6 , an 8 or a 10 . Just know he’s not getting a pass . I quickly grab gun as he’s now coming up hill and to my left. I give him a bwaaa to try and lock him up from a slow trot. He does at 30-35 yards. Flip the scope covers up. Put the Leupold 2.5x8 right behind the front shoulder. Squeeze the trigger and no bueno. SOB ... thumb safety! Flip the safety off as he starts a slow trot again , bwaaa again. He stops for a half second. Kaboom. Mule kicks and runs not far at all. I see him pile up and still have the gun ready as I racked another one into the tube of the Savage axis 2 in 7mm08. I quick call Greg ( one of the few stands with phone reception) and cool long distance view of Cuba lake. “Big buck down “ I say. Never taking my eyes off deer. He later said he could hear it in my voice it was a great one. I climb down and finally get to lay my eyes on the prize. Holy crap I said. He’s a beautiful deer indeed. Greg drives out the wheeler and I’m still in shock. Gave him a hug and and a thank you for allowing me to hunt his place and shoot such a wonderful buck. Couple other guys / friends show up to see deer and congratulate me. That day is so fresh in my mind. And now he’s here to remind me. I can’t stop staring at him. Been fishing a bit too. Bought a new 2021 Subaru Outback onyx xt ( turbo ) not long ago. Two weeks later I hit a deer doing 55 mph. Thing was trucking like getting chased by a coyote. $5k damage and got it back yesterday. Hope you’ve all been doing ok. Counting days til my happy place . The turkey woods. I could use it right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. "The Shot".... Somewhere deep in the West Canada Lakes Wilderness I'm in a blizzard, a whiteout, about 14" of snow on the ground, already exhausted from still hunting all morning... the snow is literally flying sideways... Breaking camp tomorrow..... "PRESSURE" Visibility piss poor.... I've been camped in the backcountry 26 days now without a shot. I see the rack, and he see's me... Lock on, engage... "BOOM"...... I hit a tree directly in front of the deer which was about 5" in diameter... the tree "exploded" and fell, cut in half. The buck took off and I couldn't see him... I stalked, saw him again only about 100' from where I shot... Again, we both made eye contact... He spooked, I fired... and missed. I checked the ground, no blood, no hair.... Now, I start tracking..... The snow never let up...... I tracked that beast almost 3 hours, and that deer (HUGE RACK) literally took me to hell and back.... without ever getting another glimpse of him. Now pushing 3:00 PM he got the best of me... I had to quit my pursuit as I was completely exhausted, and I had one hell of a ways to get back to camp before nightfall. I had provisions to spend the night in the woods had I dropped him, but I'm glad I didn't have to. I was cooked, and the snow never stopped... I didn't sleep for a week thinking about that deer. Another beauty that got the best of me...... Oh, how I love the Big Woods..... Bluesman

  6. It’s a tough job but it certainly doesn’t entail “pounding” a suspect. The training is precisely aimed at teaching officers to subdue their ego and humanely restraint the subject with minimal harm. Police are not authorized to hit or kill those who disagree with them. It is not their job to dole out justice. Chauvin should rot in prison. The more interesting question is how do you remove future Chauvins before they unjustly kill again.

  9. Ha, the real question is who will ever do the job anymore ? Buddy retired a bit ago, when he took the test in the mid ‘80s 7,000 did , the last one that was before all this started ? 400 . In the past you needed a score in the upper 90s and perfect background check ,I’ve had the same background check . 40 hours talking to all your past neighbors ,employers, schools, Drs, credit score better be high, clean driving record , excellent work record . Today ? a passing score of 70, and wavers given for a less then stellar backgrounds . No cops are encouraging their kids to pursue the career , city cops are seeking suburban transfers . One friend just transferred and I know of another who scored high on a FF test and will take that job after 15 years on the PD . Rochester current crime rate is very high, major crime investigators can’t keep up , and 50% of them are leaving this year . The ENTIRE command staff has already left , their replacements don’t meet the qualifications, the new “ Chief “ isn’t even a cop, yet wears a uniform and carries an old gun that’s not issued anymore and refuses to try and qualify with it . Sit back and enjoy the sh!t show , todays cops have been turned into largely report takers and it’ll only get worse as more and more veterans leave and those who stay have one goal, keeping their head down and getting to their 20 and leaving .

  10. Was "they" used to reference the rioters ? If it was then why would that be racist? Do we have to call people out specifically by their first names now?

  15. You’ve gotten good advice so far. I’ve given up on killing turkeys with everything but a 20ga. Don’t get too wrapped up in patterns, if you can find shells buy a couple boxes and shoot your full choke starting at 20yds going out until you don’t have enough shot in the pattern to kill a turkey. It will most likely be between 30-40yds. If you’re going to get really serious about it my favorite turkey load ever is the heavy weight 7’s. Only people I’ve found that make them are here https://bossshotshells.com/products/20-ga-3-tom-15-1-1-2-oz-7/ they’re expensive but if you’ve been looking for 20ga turkey ammo you’re probably pretty frustrated and these are in stock and they’ll ship them to your door step. 16. That's right! Freedom above all else! Millions have died for it, and you and others like you are more than willing, eager even, to go belly up and give it all away. Its disgusting.

  17. We wouldn't be having this conversation, if Mr Floyd had just calmly gotten into the police car, as he was calmly asked, three or four times. Mr Floyd would be out doing what he always did tonight. I believe that Chauvin overreacted through pent up frustration, of dealing with this kind of thing, day in and day out. He should have got some help before his emotions ruined his life.

  18. Autopsy and the video showed alot of other factors contributed to the piece of shits death.namely fentanyl overdose.he was saying he couldn't breathe before the cop even touched him,he was dying already.why did he resist arrest.the guy was a loser 3 time felon who put a gun to a pregnant woman's belly during a home invasion, really this is the guy everyone is upset over, how about the 5 yr old boy shot by a black neighbor for goin on his lawn.should we riot?if people listen to the cops they wouldn't be hurt bottom line.

  20. You gotta be a fool to believe someone would blatantly murder someone while being filmed while people yell and threaten him .Liberals really are a special breed

  21. How do you know he killed him ? or wanted to kill him ? could have been bad training just because CNN told you like they told you biden was good and trump was bad ?how that one go for you ? Admittedly have not followed all of this case but know enough to tell you you cant trust what they say about it . So you think he killed on purpose , a guy while knowing he was being filmed in this day and age ? not likely .

  22. I guess we haven't had a good riot in a couple months, regardless of the outcome ,the city is going to be burned . Some rich people will buy the burned out buildings for fraction a of their cost and get more rich.

  28. LOL! Why is it none of you guys ever posts a refutation to what I post? Is it because you can't? If anyone see's in absolutes, it's the leftist Progressive that tries to tell everyone else how they must live their lives. BTW, hunting for red squirrels never closes.

  29. No you don't. If you did you would spend your own money to help them, rather than having the government take everyone else's money to spend on them, making you feel morally superior for supporting government extortion. You believe in collectivism. That is tyranny against the individual and anti-liberty. I'm saving time here not writing this all out for you. Read it.....Twice.

  30. Convicted on most serious charge- Some mostly peaceful riots Convicted of a lessor charge - Larger more widespread mostly peaceful riots He skates - weeks of OT for the cops and firemen across the U.S. , and adds a year maybe more to the ammo shortage . I have not watched or read word one on the trail , little need to ,to know how this all ends.

  35. Yep. Just a few as I’m having trouble finding ammo, but so far I love it. It’s not as jumpy as I was originally thinking it might be. Once I find some ammo, I’ll do a better review.

  45. So you are happy with all the illegal immigration, increasing gas prices, the increase in corporate taxes, the pending increase on income tax, telling our enemy when we are leaving Afghanistan (that created Isis last time), more gun legislation, a gagillion dollar infrastructure bill that is about 5% infrastructure and 95% pork. Hiding with the teacher union instead of getting our kids back to school. etc.... I guess you got the person you wanted....good for you!
