  1. My yards looking decent. Love the ferris thus far, it kinda reminds me of a carnival ride its so fun! Lots of work to do still and not a ton of time to do it! The flag pole red put in is fantastic and is a real statement piece!!

  2. Late pic from Monday's BBQ. Smoked a chuck roast (I can't justify $100 for a brisket when this is nearly as good for $20), a rack of ribs, and 20 or so chicken legs. Then I had strip steaks, hots, hamburgers, italian sausage, and jalapeno cheddar venison sausages on the grill.

  6. Threw in the towel about 10:00 AM ....This was my 49th NY gobbler season and I never took my safety off... I had several chances to shoot the same three jakes and passed...I named them Keith, Larry, and Dumbhead after three of my buddies at the Legion... Lots of hens seen in early and mid season ( 9 in one day) so I hope they are busy incubating little turkeys for next year...I only missed being in the woods before daylight 6 times this season... Time to go fishing....

  8. Actually makes perfect sense. Fat people are most at risk and occupied the most hospital beds. Offer them a gym membership and they're not coming in. Offer them a donut and they'll line up.

  16. My first turkey season is over and it was a success, not because I got a bird (I didn’t ) but because I learned a whole bunch and had fun doing it. Cynthia is was a pleasure meeting you, blackbeltbill thank you for the hip pocket class. This season, I learned how to hunt from the bare ground and a blind. I learned how to cut, purr and Yelp with a pot call( which I need to practice). Thank you guys for the knowledge and I enjoyed reading the posts. Maybe we can get together and do some pheasant hunting in the fall. For all the vets thank you for your service and for the fallen you are not forgotten. Have a great summer everyone see you in the fall. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  31. Yeah, when I had my camp, I would mow earlier than I needed to, to avoid this. Came close a couple times, but if the weeds weren’t as high, it was easier to spot a nesting hen or fawn. Then I would practically scalp the ground, so I wouldn’t have to mow again until after nesting or fawning season. I would have been crushed if I hit a fawn... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What about some free insulin for diabetics? Or other free drugs for more serious illnesses Ohio offering five $1M winners. So $5M. Where’s this money coming from? 34. Cheap and effective. I like it! I'll be back out there in another week or two to clean up shooting lanes and set up cameras. I'll bring along the drill and a few screws to brush in that top level.

  36. Ive done this method for about 5 or 6 years now with every seed type besides corn. Works great but soil moisture and rainfall is needed.. I incorporate a small grain like cereal rye or wheat with every planting. So i have a crop to "terminate, and cover the new seed with" Sorry fellas, I typed this from tapatalk and i hate using my phone and that app for making posts lol. So late summer last year, I broadcast a mix of Turnips and annual clovers into tall standing weeds. I rolled these tall standing weeds with a lawn roller over the freshly broadcasted seeds then sprayed Glyphosate(roundup) over the top to terminate them if the roller didnt break the stem well enough. And as Mid September rolled around and a storm neared, I broadcast Cereal Rye into this, to use as a terminating crop for a spring planting this year. As the Rye grows up in the spring i wait until it is in near dough stage and the head of the plant is in beginning making seeds.. I then take my seed blend and broadcast it into this STANDING Cereal Rye and clovers.. A close up pic would show a ton of red seed heads from the Crimson clovers and the big leaf Balansa Clovers growing.. But i failed to take one. lol. So after broadcasting my new seed blend into this, I then take a heavy lawn roller and roll the standing rye over the top of the new broadcasted seeds. I roll this twice to help keep it matted down. And i follow it up with a spraying of Glyphosate to make sure I get a good kill and kill whatever the roller didnt kill. I did this all a day before a solid days worth of rain. Im in a very high deer, woodchuck and rabbit population so I predict the soybeans to get devoured fast as they make leaves. I will put up a few pics of previous plots done this way to help show the process with beans, brassicas and clover no till plots..

  38. I heard more this year than last by far and to me that is a gift. I am hoping after my surgeries maybe I can get out of he blind and back on the ground, I like the movement you can get away with in a blind but I truly miss ground hunting.

  39. I have my Gramp's old 760 in .300 Sav and my Dad's in .35 Rem. Both are 5 diamond models. Every deer season in NY, I take each of them for a walk on the mountain. Both shoot very well to 100 yds with the factory irons.

  43. Also get rid of the strap on the cam and use some type of screw-in mounting device whether it's homemade or store-bought that won't allow somebody to see it if they're walking up from behind. I've noticed you can spot straps from a mile away in the woods. You can YouTube homemade trail cam mount and they're very simple to do by just picking up a few pieces at your local hardware store. 44. Tactacam are cheap enough that I would risk it and I agree with Paul that locking it probably won’t deter a thief. Hide it the best you can. I don’t see a need to put cams out until September, especially on public lands where theft is a greater risk. The real benefit of the cam is to inventory what’s in an area shortly before hunting. With enough cams, you may be able to pattern a buck but for me it’s been mostly just inventory. You may also see enough activity during season to know a hot doe is around.

  45. I'm not getting sucked into this vortex but... Noone likes more competition, it's nature. Would you like to stand in line to get bread when you went to the store because everyone was out? Or how about more mountain bikers on your cherished turkey paradise? What if they changed the turkey regs to allowing rimfire rifles in Stewart? How would you feel then? It's easy to spout off when you have nothing to lose. The people who are diehard bowhunters feel that we do have something to lose, right or wrong and we're allowed that opinion the same as you're allowed yours. You will not shame me into feeling lesser about my opposition to crossbows. In fact, without getting too personal here, you are exactly the type I worry about. The type who for some unknown reason is all for crossbows but has no interest in hunting otherwise. The type who wants to walk a trail and shoot deer that stand on the side because it's EASY. The kind who could hunt with a crossbow now but chooses not too for reasons unknown. So.... Before you try shaming another hunter look at it from both sides. Put some scenarios in your head about turkey hunting since that's your passion, and I'll bet allowing rifles, or electronic calls, or Spring baiting would stick in your craw too.... 46. Still no where near any number take 1 buck each, 560 k plus dont get one. We do not have a short gunseason like states with 1 buck limit and biologicaly its not necessary for reproduction. If you have hunted any legnth of time you should know how hard bowhunters paid extra and recieved no tag. , and like your 1 buck states most buck are now taken during archery. So either take up archery or crossbow pay more money anf get your buck if that is what bothers you so much. And the saying is pretty much true 10% kill 90% of game. Perhaps your assuming that out of 113 k buck taken 50 k hunters shot 100k of them? The success rate for archers is pretty low across the state ( you can google that if you want) not.many are taking 2 buck and not enough statistically to warrent a 1 buck rule at all. Look at oast changes hell before 91 you could take a buck on a party permit...
