  1. Put up some new reactive steel targets today on the backyard range, got them as a Christmas present and painted up the old ones. The Rod and Gun club I belong to is going to have a rimfire challenge shoot Wednesday afternoon, something that I know nothing about but it sounds like fun and I think I am going to give a try for the heck of it. 2. Not sure where to put this; beer, fish, deer/bear, food… On vacation with my wife’s family (20 people) in an air B&B around southeastern PA. Had one of my most memorable times on the water…besides the rainbows rising to my fly, I sight-fished a 20”+ palomino that eventually swiped at my fly but didn’t stay on… crazy fish/experience…I’m still shaking! Then stopped at beer store for some local “fare”…including peanuts roasted on site… to calm the nerves! …amazing how many different beers are out there. On my way to check out a boulder field at first light, had a bear charge at me. Then saw two big-racked deer in velvet. Finished off with a slow-cooked chicken thigh BBQ and some disc golf. Have a few more days to explore!! (Plan to look for that “golden” trout again in the morning)!

  8. We are all booked for our PA trip. Ended up getting ahold of a campsight and for 5 of us to camp with water and electric ends up coming Out to $10 a night per person. We are going down next month to get tags and scout for the day. Getting excited about this season. I put trail cameras out last week to see if the big buck from last year made it through the winter. He made it past hunting season because I found his tracks in the snow shed hunting. If he did make it he will be my main target this year. I have seen him once when I jumped him last year but he's got a track the size of a heffer there is not anyway of mistaking it.

  11. It's official boys......I am leaving New York. Below is a link for anyone looking to move to Westchester with low taxes ($15,493 or lower if you qualify for STAR) and great schools. The professional pictures were taken today and will be uploaded over the weekend. Showings start Tuesday, with the expectation of a request for "best & final" a few days later due to bidding war (like everything else around here). If anyone is interested in seeing it before showings start on Tuesday, shoot me a PM. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2646-Springhurst-St-Yorktown-Heights-NY-10598/58425866_zpid/?view=public I'm upgrading and moving about 40 minutes away just over the border into Connecticut, since I don't have to commute to NYC 5X per week ever again (more like 5-6 times per month only). Bow Season starts 9/15!

  12. Picked up,my gun today, and shot a few mags . The same size gun as my Shield , but it may have less felt recoil as odd as that sounds . The red dot was not on when i shot , I put it on later at home ,and Co witnessed it . Not sure I like the red dot . My AR has one , but the iron sights are folded down , so you’re using one or the other ,here both the front sight and red dot are there at the same time . Thanks again to Bob .

  16. You seem to be the only one freaking out here. Were just trying to show you the difference is that BLM and Antifa have been destroying our cities for over a year without any fear of punishment and were even applauded for their efforts by the Leftist political elite, yet one riot from the right and all of a sudden the world is ending and the storm troopers are out in force, people are arrested + incarcerated for months and still awaiting trial. We've all denounced the capitol rioter's, left and right. When you defend Marxists to the point of hearing birds chirping and spewing curses to all that oppose your view, you'll tend to be labeled a Marxist. Please don't stop posting, as your and VH post's give me something to laugh at most mornings.

  17. better quality pics form this weekend cam pulls. Downloaded the pics instead of copies off the big screen . Not so sure this year a spike wont be on the hit list since i dont have my 6S spot anymore. But hoping for an early doe and then be on my 5 point or better usual schedule. That 6 is def a shooter for me! That branch the doe is sniffing is just always a hot spot. Have a stand 34 yards from it.

  21. Was heading down to Ohio this past weekend. Stopped at Sportsman's Warehouse in Erie for supplies. Checked for ammo and noticed several CVA Cascades on the rack. Been debating on a 350 Legend and wouldn't you know it, they had one. It spoke to me. Said...."Buy me." So....what kind of glass should I look at? I am not a Leupold fan. Hate to say it but I've had horrible experiences with them and I know I am the minority. But open to other options. And I have plenty of ammo for it. Deer Season XP in 150 and also the Hornady 165 gr.

  28. 35yard shot I'll take that group for me all day long. I'll shoot broadheads in a couple weeks to make sure I'm still all good and don't need to tinker more. I left all my broadheads on the arrows from last year so beside sharpening them quick I should be all good to go. Then I'll be shooting 3-5 arrows a day until season.

  29. I’ve never been to the west coast, but its what I imagine it to look like… If you travel the road that runs the perimeter of the island…which is called Mount Desert Island, where Acadia is located, there are rock cliffs, that fall right into the ocean. Just reminds me of what I see on TV shows of California, where cars run the coast. Thousands of lobster pot buoy’s, etc. I also saw the largest buck, I have ever laid my eyes on there, steps from the ocean, it was a memory of a lifetime.

  38. I've been looking around for a target specifically for broadheads. I happened to be in Runnings and looked at what targets they had. They had Block 6x6 targets for $99 and after a price search, I saw that all other places were selling them for $110-$120. Then I happened to notice a stack of the same items for $69. They had a sign that they were marked down, due to "blemishes". They had scuffs and very minor dents in them, but that's it! I decided to snatch one up, knowing I would be putting a lot more "blemishes" on it anyways! If you're in the market, check it out...

  39. Doe down. What a cluster! Shot her at 16 yards but spines her. Lost my other good arrow out of the quiver when I shot. Had to climb down and tried to use the arrow with a bad bane on it but as I pulled back, the string on the release broke! The arrow flopped into the ground on the far side of the deer. Had to go back to the tree and search for the arrow that fell. Found it and went back and finished her off with a finger shot. Didn't go out till after the Bills game and only sat for maybe fifteen minutes before shooting.
