I'm not sure how to go about this. My father gave me a bunch of camo clothing and said do what I want with it as his turkey hunting/bow hunting days are done. Some things have sizes but most don't. 34-36 waist x 30-32 length pants, jackets are XL. All are cotton and pretty lightweight. If you have a son or know a boy that could use these items, send me a PM. I'll ship them or if your local we could meet somewhere. Not looking for any money, I just hope they can be used by someone for hunting, not a fashion statement.

If I could only have one gun....hmmm. I'd have to go WAY back to when I really did have just one gun. That gun did everything for me. Birds, small game, turkeys, deer, targets, home defence, though there was no need for that back then. Ithaca Modle 37 in 16g. I still have that gun. And she still gets out for squirrels at least once a year. Action is still flawless. And it would probably be the very last gun I'd part with. Now....lets get this thread back on target fella's. That I wonder if just going to the woods more, would be better time spent. I know it will be for me. If anything, just follow the damned forum rules, and bicker till the cows come home in the Political Section!!! But few listen anymore. And fewer yet follow any set rules. It's all about "MY" point of view, and to hell with everyone else's. So there....I just gave mine.

Just a little hunting work today. Replaced a stand and pulled cam cards. No more pics of "Big Sixy". Just a bunch of pics of a three point (like 40 pics of him) and some does. Which is usual til season gets going. Food plots faired ok from heavy rain. One spot was a little washed but it will have to do. And they Def like them. Lots pics on them, esp the one plot which is just Ireland green. Lots of clover where we frost seeded this year. Also have a brush hog on the way for delivery on wed! Been needing one and bit the bullet and ordered it. Gonna put it to use this next weekend hopefully. Need to still trim some stands and put up a groundblind. Hope to have it done with a three day upcoming weekend.

My wife needed to return something to Eastview Mall in Victor today, so I rode along. As we were driving through the parking lot, I noticed an odd looking critter 10-15 yards off the parking lot. It was a jet black woodchuck! First one I've ever seen! If traffic wasn't so bad, I would have swung back for another pic. I drove by it 3 times to look at it though! My wife said it looked like a seal! LOL

We had the same crap with other members who went away, who might have reinvented themselves as grouse. Papist and vjp. It’s a nonstop barrage of the same stuff. If we could get rid of grouse and im gonna include bowman and gobbler too, we would be all about normal stuff. But mainly its grouse. I’ve noticed the other two seem more reactive than proactive. Had a great time with my brother and dog. So much bait fish in water Dolphins were chasing. I caught a Sting Ray but lost him in the suds. Had a huge fish on that almost spooled the reel. Fought it for 20 minutes then hook popped. Saw a couple of sharks caught that was about it.

Of what I currently own, my Savage 320 20ga pump with the chokes I have, cylinder for slugs, improved cylinder, and the extra full turkey choke. From small game to deer and black bear, and if needed home defense. If I was to buy a gun to only have one- Browning BPS field in 20ga with the same chokes I mentioned above. A shotgun is the most universal firearm ever created in my book.

Grouse, I take a lot of kids and newcomers hunting. Get yourself a good sized pop up. Put it up where you know you will see deer most of the time, and take her for a few 2 hour sits. She won't sit still for very long, she will talk, she will have to pee,well, you will be amazed at how much a kid has to say and do in a couple hours. Keep it short and sweet, and don't really plan on getting a deer. It is good to plan ahead. Have snacks for both of you to share. If you carry a thermos, get one for her and put whatever she will drink in it, so she can do the same as you. Find out if she wants to watch you kill a deer beforehand. If she does, be prepared to use up a tag when the opportunity comes because she will be begging you to shoot it. Some years, for the youth hunt, I will have two girls in the blind with me. It is usually a fiasco with them tee heeing on their phones, oohing and ahing when squirrels and turkeys come out. They always get a deer before we are done. Sometimes it takes a couple sits, and sometimes they will both score on the first morning. All I can say is that having kids along makes hunting so much more fun.

As much a I love my revolvers , I would go with my 870 12 guage. Birdshot for small game , buckshot for self /zombie defense and the slug barrel for big game .

I for once agree with you here, no matter how Biden was going to handle it, it was going to be a mess, because he's proven without a doubt that he's totally incompetent. Biden is the only one to get 13 soldiers and hundreds of Afghans killed while leaving a war zone that had no American casualties for over a year, probably using the abandoned explosives he ordered left behind. Everyone laughed about Ol' Joe before, but their not laughing and joking about Ol' Joe now that his incompetence is actually killing soldiers and civilians.

I suspect that much of what we think we know now about the vaccine, we learned over the past eight months. Short term studies with small cohorts of people rarely provide a full picture, and often miss effects that are constrained to select populations. Unfortunately, the situation was bad enough that long term efficacy wasn't the primary goal, just a safety profile and short term protection - but I'm reasonably sure that the uncertainty over how long immunity would persist was conveyed loud and clear from the beginning, so the booster push should not come as a surprise. The flu shot is a vaccine, but requires a new shot every year. Perhaps this will become the norm for COVID? I just don't know. I'm not convinced myself yet by the data on boosters, but I can tell you that the number of breakthrough cases among the population that was vaccinated back in January is substantial. I can also tell you that I'd rather acquire protection, albeit incomplete, from a vaccine than from the disease itself, regardless of persistence. As the numbers evolve the secondary consequences of infection seem IMHO to far outweigh those of the jab. I will freely admit that the data is accumulating so fast now that even an expert has trouble staying on top of it, and I'm no expert in either vaccine biology or immunology. The tidal wave of papers on pre-publication servers, which haven't undergone peer-review, make it very difficult to separate the wheat from the chafe, and everyone engages in confirmation bias by cherry picking the data. I certainly don't trust pencil pushers to be able to decipher the emerging issues, but it seems that the public has lost trust in scientists, and perhaps with cause given the poor communication and emphasis on consistency of the message trumping accuracy during the worst of the pandemic. I wish there were clear answers - I am in the same boat as everybody here, trying to figure out what's best for me and mine. But Alaska rocked, and two weeks removed from the daily grind has given me renewed hope. For today at least.
