Most all the work we needed to do up at the farm is done. Now I can start to focus on hunting!!! My nephew's first year bowhunting, so will take him over to the lake property this weekend. Good chance he can get a shot at something over there, for his first deer. He just got married a few weeks ago. Told him this stuff is addicting, his new bride will be made a "hunting widow" ! He just laughed, and said, that's ok, she's already used to being a "fishing widow"!!! lol....... Great hard working kid. At this stage, I much more enjoy being a mentor, than a hunter myself. His time will be limited though, with a new home to take care of, so I'll get to wear both hats.15 points

My boy got a doe for his last year as a youth hunter. For a youth, starting as soon as he can legally, he’s had a hell of a hunting start! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk14 points

Probably my last update. Room is done, it’s a bit of mess as hunting gear is a bit strewn about - and I’m OK with that in season lol - but we did add on the two wall peds from 2020. I was hoping to do a barrel mount with the three 2020 bucks but I just don’t have room in there. Mostly because I need one bare wall as the background for work video meetings. I’ll add a beverage cooler and probably add in some of my euro mounts, and a shed rope off the desk pipes to hold sheds I’ve collected. Outside that it is time to enjoy it and hopefully be forced to swap out a mount with a new 2021 deer. Lord willing.6 points

Pretty short and sweet story. Hunted Sunday PM with my son and we had an amazing sit. Saw piles of deer and even had some big bucks in the field. Unfortunately none came within bow range ( although my son said I should shoot them ) Got home and happen to check my cam and saw a giant bodied deer in a different field than the one we had sat in. I immediately wanted a closer look. I loved the fact he was a loaner away from all the herd we saw. Thankfully, the wind for that stand was perfect Monday so I hit it for an afternoon sit. The rest is history. He came out textbook the way he did the night before and I had a 17yrd shot. I waited in the stand for my dad and son to show up, and my son made short work of the track job. What an experiance to have 3 generations involved in! Thankful to punch a tag so early and be able to get some stuff done before gun season. According to the PA chest girth chart this buck dressed at 180# which was verified by an actual scale. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk6 points

I’ve never been this excited to be in NYC. Just landed In jfk after a week in punta cana. I learned that I’m not a resort guy after the 2nd day I couldn’t wait to leave but my buddy had a nice wedding and I’m happy I was there for it. Now a 4.5hr drive home and will be back in the stand for an am hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

Went out for an evening hunt, nothing showed up on the kill plot, light south east breeze. Have to drive the family 6 hours to chataqua county today, so I pulled the plug at 645. My dad was at the cabin about 600 yards away making noise, working on the cabin. Walking down the wood road, stopped to look at our big plot which we mowed 2 weeks ago, there's a dozen deer in the field. This is less than 100 yards away from where I was sitting. Then I see a rack turn the corner, make towards the oak tree 15 yards away, so I freeze. He goes into the hedge row, and I hear munching. So I pull up the face mask, nock one, and slide over behind a big poplar. I know exactly where he's going to step out, but it's last light. Munching stops, I draw, he steps out, stares at me from under 20, and I watch the luminok slap home. Looked good, but didn't pass through. Saw him run and knock the arrow out on a tree. Thought I heard him crash. Back out, check again in 45, found the arrow, blood was excellent. Magnus Stinger went right through and poked out the other side. Got done butchering around 2am.5 points

I haven't been out with the bow in over a week. I'm getting out of work at 3. Get the youngest off of the school bus at 325 and then heading up to a local spot for the evening. It's most likely the only sit that I'll squeeze in until the weekend of the 23rd. Bring on the action.4 points

Found what I wanted to see on first quick scout. Rubs leading up put of an apple orchard with rubs on each side of the trees and 2 rub lines met at 1 spot with the scrapes on a bench at the end of the ridge. It got thick about 100yards in front so we backed out. One will sit that bench and the other will swing around and sit the next bench up. Wind is supposed to be the same as this morning. Off to go check a swamp now.4 points

View for tonight in pa. 2 scraped 20yards to my left rubs in all directions. Little bench that goes straight uphill and then straight down hill. Wind was perfect came in from below the ridge and came right to my tree and up 16ft. I have a friend above me 100 yards covering the next bench. Point of the ridge is less than 100yardd and its thick. That's where I am expecting the deer to be coming from.3 points

I went out with my wife and some of her co-workers last night for drinks and on the way home we saw an absolute slammer just down the road from my house on a property I can hunt. A really big deer for around here. I turned around to see if I could get a better look but they were not by the road anymore. I know where I will focus my efforts. Not much for bedding on the property, but there is a point with young beech trees that bucks like to bed on. I will investigate this weekend.3 points

Truck and trailers are packed, food bought, truck gassed up. Waiting for the kids to get home from school then off to dance and dropping the youngest off to my wife then heading to PA for the week. My wife made a pot of chili for the trip so that will be tomorrow's dinner. I'll try to update everyday while I'm down there. Not picky it'll be first legal buck. 1.5 5 point or 4yr old 12pt doesn't matter to me just want that experience with my friends.3 points

2nd spot yielded less sign however the biggest scrape we found was here along with a good rub. However as I found the scrape someone hiking walked right through it and onto the island I was planning on sitting tonight. So I will give a break tonight and check it tomorrow. There was still quite a bit of green on Saturday in 9M. That afternoon we took a trip to the Kinzua Bridge State Park and caught the foliage just slightly past prime... ł would highly recommend a trip there next year to anyone who enjoys the fall foliage! West: North: East:2 points

Saturday Morning was our only sit, we were out until noon and didn't see a single tail. Nice to see reports of successful harvests! We'll be back at it come November unless ł can get time off of work for a few archery sits. May ł add how refreshing it is to see a thread on here that is supporting our "replacements" and encouraging them to get out and hunt. The inappropriate content and political back in forth is chasing away more members than it's worth, not to mention an entire class of possible forum members. A renewed focus needs to be put on making this forum board appropriate for all ages. Youth are the future of our sport, ł refuse to allow my step-son to visit this site to gain knowledge here until the inappropriate content can be reeled in OR he turns 18 if this site is still around. ł can turn look away. He can't "unsee" anything he shouldn't see.2 points

9/29 I was driving home this morning after spending the night with buddies at Camp Serenity, which is run by Wounded Warriors Outdoors Adventures, when I received a call requesting help with a tracking job. The hunter told me he had shot a 9 pointer at 40 yards and believed he hit him too far back. He waited 2 hours before looking, but bumped the buck out of a bed at 80 yards. Going in too soon on a gut or liver shot was the only mistake this hunter made. He made a great decision by backing out immediately and waiting until this morning to go look. He was only able to advance the track a short distance this morning due to being in the cedars….tough tracking there. This is where he made another great decision….he backed out without grid searching and called! Luna made short work of this 375 yard track. If the hunter had continued pushing that buck last night there’s a good chance we would not have recovered him. I wasn’t there for the field dressing, but the hunter reports the arrow caught lung and sliced part of the heart. The entry point was back quite a ways, but the deer was quartering away. Poor Kunox has had to track 2 deer that were still alive while Luna gets the dead ones. His luck will change soon.2 points
