  3. View of the night. Have q heavy rub line and scrape on the left side along the swamp a big CRP field that the buck came out of this morning. I'm in a red oak and I have apples all around. The grass has clover and 300 yards out in front is another swamp I'm keeping an eye to see if anything comes out. I had a fawn come in while I was setting up and bust me but just bounded across the road which is 50yarde away.

  8. I had four does snarfing up acorns at the base of my ladder. Legal light and I could barely see them lol. Two more passed through just now and one was bleating nonstop, pretty neat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  9. Another decent one has been showing up. Were trying to figure out how to set up on him. One of those deals where no big trees around. Im considering putting up a pole here to hang stands in. Unfortunately i have been too busy to hunt. Hopefully my brother gets a shot.

  13. Start summoning your inner "THP"......If they saw a buck pull that move they would be hot on its tail and it most likely wouldn't live the next 24hrs. Sent from my SM-A716V using Tapatalk

  14. Scouted some more this morning and saw a nice 8 go across the road and into a river bottom that's only 15-20 acres in size with fields on both sides. So 2 of the guys are going to sneak in there to cover it and hope to catch him coming out of his bed. We also jumped 3 does scouting.

  15. Hardcore hunters don't open candy bars, they shove the whole thing in their face and chew.

  17. 9/29 I was driving home this morning after spending the night with buddies at Camp Serenity, which is run by Wounded Warriors Outdoors Adventures, when I received a call requesting help with a tracking job. The hunter told me he had shot a 9 pointer at 40 yards and believed he hit him too far back. He waited 2 hours before looking, but bumped the buck out of a bed at 80 yards. Going in too soon on a gut or liver shot was the only mistake this hunter made. He made a great decision by backing out immediately and waiting until this morning to go look. He was only able to advance the track a short distance this morning due to being in the cedars….tough tracking there. This is where he made another great decision….he backed out without grid searching and called! Luna made short work of this 375 yard track. If the hunter had continued pushing that buck last night there’s a good chance we would not have recovered him. I wasn’t there for the field dressing, but the hunter reports the arrow caught lung and sliced part of the heart. The entry point was back quite a ways, but the deer was quartering away. Poor Kunox has had to track 2 deer that were still alive while Luna gets the dead ones. His luck will change soon.

  22. It’s very mild, doesn’t have a distinct flavor, the fat is very palatable. It’s excellent. Steaks will be chewy as should be expected considering the animal and where it lives. Nothing like domestic goat or even lamb. It’s excellent.

  26. I just talked to my son about this. Neither one of us have a desire to shoot him, at least this year... The way he looked on July 5th, I thought he would have put on several more inches than what he did. Maybe next year! JULY 5, 2021

  27. Our piebald buck grew quite a bit since last year. This picture is from where I saw him all the time last season. Not sure if he makes the hit list? Depending on the day, he may or may not. He will definitely be killed if he leaves the property.

  30. Listen to shoots100 but I would skip the prey in distress if you want yotes vs Fox. You know they are there. Piss em off with challenges and then move to pups in distress if needed. And yes keep that light on and in their eyes when you see em.

  35. Same as Dirt Time is using for me. I will be using 240 gr Hornady XTP bullets in my (2) 50 cals with 100 grains (2 pellets) of triple 7 powder and a 209 primer in my inline and 75 grains (1 pellet and 25 grains loose) of triple 7 and a #11 cap with my sidelock. My crossbow will be used only in real rainy conditions during ML week with 100 gr NAP spitfire broadheads. Opening weekend of gun, it will be 150 gr Winchester XX 30/30 soft points. I have yet to kill a deer with my sidelock ML or 30/30 but have taken quite a few at home with the inline ML (two up in the Adirondacks) and 5 at home with the crossbow. I will have (3) tags that I could use in those 9 days up there, including an archery/ML either or, a archery/ML antlerless, and a regular season antlered (last 2 days only). It sure would be nice to fill one with the sidelock or the 30/30. My standards are significantly lower in the Adirondacks, where the deer gain much more value to me because of the beautiful scenery and the solitude of the surroundings. For that reason alone, if I get a good chance at a 4-point, 1-1/2 year old buck, even in the first hour of my first hunt on ML week, I am probably going to take it. A spike will be safe though, as will a 4 pointer on opening day of gun up there. I would be very thankful for a mature doe during ML week.

  36. Pretty short and sweet story. Hunted Sunday PM with my son and we had an amazing sit. Saw piles of deer and even had some big bucks in the field. Unfortunately none came within bow range ( although my son said I should shoot them ) Got home and happen to check my cam and saw a giant bodied deer in a different field than the one we had sat in. I immediately wanted a closer look. I loved the fact he was a loaner away from all the herd we saw. Thankfully, the wind for that stand was perfect Monday so I hit it for an afternoon sit. The rest is history. He came out textbook the way he did the night before and I had a 17yrd shot. I waited in the stand for my dad and son to show up, and my son made short work of the track job. What an experiance to have 3 generations involved in! Thankful to punch a tag so early and be able to get some stuff done before gun season. According to the PA chest girth chart this buck dressed at 180# which was verified by an actual scale. Sent from my SM-G998U using Tapatalk

  37. 9/27/21 Our first track of the season! I was called by a friend that shot a doe at 20 yards this evening. He watched her mule kick then run out of sight. She then briefly reappeared a short distance away before disappearing again. Luna immediately locked on at the hit site and the hunter confirmed she was going the way the deer had ran. We didn’t see any blood for the first 100 yards, then started seeing a little on the tall grass and on trees. Luna took us in a different direction than where the hunter saw the deer reappear, so he must have seen a second deer. We found the doe dead at about the 200 yard mark and he had made a very nice shot. This was a great warmup track for us.
