  1. In December, Kunox was diagnosed with the tick borne disease, anaplasmosis. He’s been treated and is doing fine. Now, he’s got an ear hematoma and had surgery. He’s recovering nicely, just has to look like a nun for two weeks. He just grins and bears it.

  2. My wife is on the board with a nice 2.5 year old set. I'm about to head out looking at a spot tomorrow where there's been some decent bucks after season. Most were still packing when I took cams down last weekend but this cold spell with the snow will shock them in to dropping soon!

  3. All politicians are bums. Stop letting this broken system keep us at odds with eachother. In reality I bet we are all alot closer in principles than you realize. All the woman and men on this sight are probably pretty moral good humans. It is politics and government policy that keep us divided, not even our actual position and views of the world. I see everyone on here capable of helping and even loving eachother, why are we so quick to attack eachother over mild differences of opinion.

  8. That statement is too broad imo. Ask the city folks who are afraid to ride the subway or even just walk down the street if life is pretty darn good. They won’t agree with you. Or ask the people in San Francisco who leave their vehicles unlocked and the trunks open so thieves won’t break their windows. They won’t agree with you. Trains being broken into in LA and Chicago, gangs doing smash and grabs all across the country, etc, etc, etc. Life is far from pretty darn good in America.

  9. Your correct, and a George Floyd statue was long overdue, because he could tell you the value of a crack rock from 2 blocks away and the value of that kind of skill is priceless and should be honored with a statue. He could also tell you if a bill was counterfeit and was actually trying to show the store owner what a counterfeit bill looked like that day, but was unjustly arrested for doing so. But his real Value, was being on the forefront of firearm ultrasound technology. He could actually tell if a fetus was ok, by holding a handgun to a pregnant woman's belly. Maybe if Teddy Roosevelt had those symbolic values, we wouldn't be removing his statue.

  18. Lol, well first you find a willing bird to do it dirty and then shoot in the face with 3 1/2" #5. We try to use as much of the bird as possible so I dry the tail, salt and dry the legs and take all the feathers I can for trapping visual lures, tying jigs and flies, and wings for scratching calls. As far as processing goes, skin the turkey and keep liver neck and heart for stock and stuffing. Take the thighs and legs off of each side and vacuum seal, as well as breasts. Sometimes with the Jake's you will only get 1 package. First I put carrots onions and celery in the pressure cooker and cook the combos(legs and thighs). After they are parboiled I strip them and Basically make a turkey soup. Don't forget a bay leaf. I dont really measure anything but I do Google for reference if I feel lost. Poultry seasoning salt and pepper work pretty well. Anything that makes a good poultry stock including bullion, and the forementioned organs and neck. I strain everything and keep the stock, then add all the meat back in. I make biscuits with whatever we have... roughly 2 cups flower Tsp salt Tbsp baking powder Any herbs you like Cup of shredded cheese(don't be afraid to try all types) Cut in 6 tbsp oil/butter but colder the better Stir in around 1 cup of milk. You want it to be a little looser than play-doh. Get your soup on a light boil and drop the biscuits in 1 large spoonful at a time. Cover and let simmer for 10 minutes. If you use Dutch over you can brown them in the oven. Im on stove top tonight. Sorry if my directions are not focused enough. We just kinda wing it here.

  39. Amen! And when I completed my doctorate she surprised me with a ring with a black stone and small diamond chip in it. She remembered I used to sing her a favorite country song of mine that said, "I'm just an old chunk of coal, but I'm gonna be a diamond someday!" : ) Did I mention as an 18 y/o kid I bought her engagement ring by laying black top and hand mowing (like chain gang stuff..lol)the side of highways for the town of Barneveld, NY during the day, and feeding horses and mucking stalls nights and weekends? I would walk downtown Utica every week (didn't have a car yet) to make payments at the jewelry store. She still wears that ring!

  42. I'm throwing the kitchen sink out there for plots this year. Gonna see how it goes. If I'm not happy with the results for the work and time put in, then I will just frost seed the hell out of it next year with clover and just keep the areas cut down if they get too high. One larger area this year will be radish and winter peas, one shady area will be "secret spot", and two other small spots will both get a mix of "bowstand" and "Shot Plot". Then some bags of clover in the rest of the trails for frost seeding. Which took very well last year.

  46. There's no need for a 24 hour news cycle anyways. News has become entertainment, and that entertainment has value. How much more informed are you about a story after following it for hours, compared to reading it in the paper or seeing it on the nightly news. Pundits and analysts are not news people or journalists, they are entertainers. News websites contain very little "news", but plenty of entertainment parading as such. This event was awful and sad. Watching someone go on and on about it for hours makes it no more or less awful. However, the news entertainment companies will play tragedy for all it's worth if it keeps bringing in eyeballs and selling ad space. At some point, you have to ask yourself if you are being informed or being entertained...
