  1. Winter project that I have been wanting to do for years. If anyone is wondering the mountain Mike's skull is an easy way to display sheds and old deadheads. I found this buck dead on some local public and it stunk so bad that I cut off his antlers at the bases. Now I try to save the whole skull plate so I could score it if I ever wanted to. This deer was a dandy for public it's a shame that it didn't die by the arrow. "Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms" this one also had his a-hole(can I say that?) eaten by dogs when I found him.

  3. 11 years left on a 25-year tax abatement, so about 1K/yr. Available in the spring if anyone's looking for a pied-à-terre in the city. Looking at this right now - taxes $60/yr.

  4. Biden is going to start sucking back on his stupid past decisions. He knows November is coming quick and at a 30% approval rating democrats have 0 chance of winning anything.

  7. I didn't write this just copied and paste .... One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The florist was pleased and left the shop. When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door. Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you, I'm doing community service this week.' The cop was happy and left the shop. The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a 'thank you' card and a dozen doughnuts waiting for him at his door. Then a Member of Congress came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, 'I cannot accept money from you. I'm doing community service this week.' The Member of Congress was very happy and left the shop. The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen Members of Congress lined up waiting for a free hair cut And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental difference between the citizens of our country and the politicians who run it.

  11. Just finished One Man’s Wilderness, by Richard Pronneke for the second time. I forgot that I had read it a while ago, but a few pages after I remembered, I decided to just keep going. In preparation for the upcoming Winter Olympics I am reading The Boys of Winter, by Wayne Coffey. It’s interesting but a little disorganized. Still enjoying it though. I actually did attend the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid. Shockingly, it was my Father that insisted I go, even allowing me to miss the a full week of my second college semester. I had a friend of a friend that lived in Plattsburgh, so I stayed in her basement and took the shuttle bus back and forth. Had a great time and traded a bunch of pins with people, walked half way up Whiteface Mt the ski races, went to bobsled, hockey (not the big game) and several other events. Small bit of trivia, a friend of mine was at the Miracle on Ice game and had a US flag. He gave it to Jim Craig at the end of the game and he draped it over his shoulders for the iconic photo.

  13. For most of last year, many of us called for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to release its data on reinfection rates, but the agency refused. Finally last week, the CDC released data from New York and California, which demonstrated natural immunity was 2.8 times as effective in preventing hospitalization and 3.3 to 4.7 times as effective in preventing Covid infection compared with vaccination. 15. Just finished this. A light easy book on fly fishing trips around the world. He writes and thinks in a similar manner as me, so it just pissed me off as I am compiling a series of articles of a similar nature. So it goes. Actually not bad and a worthy read.

  19. No, I don't think he is Chef. The socialist left of the democratic party, would have us be much closer to what Russia is. Than to what America was founded on. History has shown, the best way to deter aggression from Russia or China, is to have America be strong and united. Currently, America is neither.

  26. a possible part of this Ukraine issue as well. Ukriane official says this isnt all that new that Russia is intimidiating them and head of Ukraine is saying not to panic - as WE activate troops, send munitions and threaten to sanction Putin directly. If we send troops to the Ukraine border then expect Putin to send troops to Cuba and Venezuala. Things like this continue to escalate and all it takes is a push for bad things to happen and get more tense. Lets hope cooler heads prevail. We dont need a new Axis of power with a Russian/Chinese/Iranian combination. These days cyber attack is more possible than any kind of ground war. Which we certainly dont want or need and not sure this country has the backbone for it these days as they did in the 40's. i see this as being more like Crimea than Poland. But you never know.

  29. can get these on amazon to attach to a treestand. I am putting up a new 9ft stand this year (has to be 9ft cause there is no trees there big enough to go higher) and am looking at ways to camo it in. Hunting buddy has a stand skirt but i am also worried about it sticking out. Was thinking of cutting some branches and zip tying them around it. But also considered something like this - may have to go to the Hobby Lobby and see what i can find. lol.

  34. I think I may have mentioned it here once before, years ago myself and some of my hunting compadres went on a Squirrel hunt and it was anything goes, Grays, Reds and Chipmunks. We got ourselves quite the pile of rodents, cleaned them all up and one of the guys took them all home and his wife made up a big stew and did some up in tomato sauce. We were all invited over for a Squirrel feast, the eating was good and other than body size I could not tell the difference in taste between any of them. Chipmunks are on the small side but when you think about it I would say they amount to be about the same size wise as Quail. Ammo is a little tight these days so a good quality pellet rifle would do the trick hunting Chipmunks on the cheap. My little Benjamin P-Rod parlor gun would be just the ticket for them as it will easily shoot dime size groups at 30 yds, should be plenty good on Squirrels at moderate range also.
