  3. Pasting in an email I received from the NDA. I need to read through it but it seems like @grampy gets to rest his big-buck-serial-killer shoulder and hunt with an xbow during archery? New York Senate Bill 7747 (S7747) would allow youth hunters ages 12-16 and senior hunters ages 55+ to hunt with a crossbow during special archery seasons. The bill also removes current minimum limb width and maximum draw weight restrictions. The National Deer Association (NDA) supports the inclusion of crossbows as a legal method of take for deer and other species within appropriate seasons, wherever practical and possible, and we especially support the use of crossbows if their use positively impacts a deer management program and helps recruit and retain more hunters. TAKE ACTION Please consider joining the NDA in supporting this important legislation. New York S7747 expands opportunities for youth and senior hunters, and it also amends language to keep up with the changes in modern crossbow design and technology. Visit our Advocacy Center to ask your lawmakers to support the bill. MORE INFO The NDA is dedicated to ensuring the future of wild deer, wildlife habitat and hunting. We are more interested in managing deer and habitat appropriately and protecting our hunting heritage than debating use of specific weapons. However, if the use of crossbows positively impacts a deer management program and helps recruit and retain more hunters, the NDA fully supports their use. New York S7747 expands opportunities for youth and senior hunters, and it also amends language to keep up with the changes in modern crossbow design and technology, allowing hunters to choose from a broader selection of options. Additionally, S7747 addresses a number of priorities that the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) has outlined in its Management Plan for White-Tailed Deer in New York State, 2021–2030 (Deer Plan). These priorities include reducing the minimum age for youth to hunt with a crossbow to a uniform age of 12 and that the restrictions on crossbow size (e.g., minimum limb width) and maximum draw weight be removed from law so that the agency can set more appropriate standards which are effective and humane for deer hunting and consistent with crossbow technology

  4. First time out in a month. Called in a pair, waiting on my son to shoot the one, buddy to my left was on the other to his right...waiting...ryan shoot...ryan shoot! Im whispering to my son because the yote im watching is getting a little nervous. Its starting to walk away. I cant wait any longer and i drop the yote. The 2nd one never gets shot at, my buddy is using a 4x sightmark wraith. He said the dog was too close, all he saw was fur in the scope...My sons issue, not 100% sure. I think he may not have closed the bolt all the way. No firing pin mark on the round. Not sure. O well, good night out, 1 less female.

  5. Well not how you want to find them but I matched that broken antler up. Unfortunately it was still attached to his head. I thought the broken tone belonged to a good 7pt I saw during bow but it apparently belongs to this guy. found him in a bed about a 300yrds from where I found his broken tine and 150yrds from where I killed my bow buck this year on stateland. Found a great bedding area he was in and it appears other deer are still using it even with him dead in it. second picture is him with the broken tine I found during ML

  6. I would like to see this pass Paul. Thanks for posting about this. I know many hunters in my age group, who were once avid archers and very good bowhunters. But due to shoulder and other health issues, can no longer participate in the regular archery season. I tried to shoot over the weekend downstairs. Did not work out so well. My first love is, and always will be, my bow and bowhunting. But to be able to participate, I'll be happy to tote a crossbow.

  9. Incase anyone would be interested, I was in a local Walmart today and thought I'd do a drive by in the hunting section. According to the sticker on the shelf, the Tasco trail cams were on clearance for $20 (Regular price of $30). They've been that price for a few weeks now, so out of curiosity, I scanned the barcode with the Walmart app and they were only $8.66! For that price, I picked up the last 3!

  10. LoL ,they randomly uses archers of varying skill sets , the averaged a grouping of 3 inches at 50 yards , to shoot 3 inch groups at 50 yards you are extremely proficient with a bow and have years of experience. You can't even argue against that. Any dolt can pick up a crossbow and shoot a 3 inch group the very first day.

  11. My buddy in AZ is some sort of banker, when I said I was using a attorney for our closing , he asked why ? Out there it’s all handled by a bank clerk . NY makes everything overly complicated. I have a relative who became a realtor recently, his prior “ job “ was an aspiring rapper , can’t be to hard .

  12. When I sold my last motorcycle, a 1500 Kawasaki, my wife basically said “no more”. When we were in Italy in 2017 we rented a Vespa to cruise around Tuscany and she loved it. She told me that she would be okay with a Vespa. 1 week after we got back, mine was sitting for sale about a mile from our house. I haven’t second guessed getting it once, it is a blast.

  18. Yes, i know u hunt what u draw. I drew salmon for elk. So i have ALL of salmon to hunt if i wish. For mule deer i drew unit 28 (which is in salmon zone) i know i can only hunt unit 28 for deer. Im not expecting to see a wolf but why not buy a $30 tag. I appreciate your optimistic attitude, hope ya have a great day.

  19. It's good and bad. Theres no inventory so if you get a listing you are going to sell it immediately, over asking, to a buyer with no contingency, no inspection, and in many case cash. If youre a buyer and dont have those pieces its going to be a frustrating process finding a home Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  20. Butch The Rooster Sarah was in the fertilized egg business. She had several hundred young pullets and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs. She kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced. This took a lot of time, so she bought some tiny bells and attached them to her roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so she could tell which rooster was performing from a distance. Now, she could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells. Sarah's favorite rooster, old Butch, was an excellent specimen but, this morning, she noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! When she investigated, she saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets hearing the roosters coming would run for cover. To Sarah's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak so that it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job, and walk on to the next one. Sarah was so proud of old Butch she entered him in a Show, and he became an overnight sensation among the judges. The result was that the judges awarded old Butch the "No Bell Peace Prize" and awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well. Old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention? Vote carefully in the next election. You can't always hear the bells.

  30. My wife and I have been wanting to move for a few years now. Our current home was our first house and a great starter home in that it hasn't needed and big maintenance items. When we bought it, my mother in law lived with us, so we had to make some concessions to accommodate her. (On a side note, she moved out 2 weeks after we moved in.) Now we're looking for something that would be big enough for our growing family and have some of the things that we had to pass on the first time around. We'd also like to move before some of those big ticket items need replacing. The problem is, in this market, we couldn't afford our current house, let alone an upgrade. What @The_Real_TCIII is spot on. I spoke with a realtor friend of mine who said that there are generally 2 groups who are poised to buy in this market: young people with good jobs who currently live with mommy and daddy; and people who's jobs are based in the downstate market but are no longer tied to an office. The younger folks can bank most of what they make and jump on a house when they see one, cash in hand. And the downstate folks take advantage of the more affordable (relatively speaking) upstate market where they can live and work remotely. The typical middle class family looking to upgrade are the ones having the hardest times making moves until this stabilizes. My friend's advice? Purge stuff that you've accumulated and no longer need, and make any updates that you want now so that when the market cools, you're in a better position to take advantage of it.

  31. Note that the raccoon is the number one nest predator in nearly all of the studies. They may be legally taken year round in NY, if they are “damaging”. They are also the easiest furbearer there is to trap. All you got to do is plant s few rows of sweetcorn in a garden, and you will get “damage”, as soon as it starts making ears. Then get yourself some box traps and bait them with peanut butter coated marshmallows, and you will get coons. Dog-proofs with s little cat food poured in the bottom work well also, as do foothold traps placed under shallow water with the pan wrapped in tin-foil. After you catch them, kill them and bury them (until regular trapping season opens). After that, you can just throw them out for the buzzards, since the hides are worthless.

  35. I nearly found this awesome deadhead today too. As luck would have it, they gave this kid permission to walk the farml today. When I happened on him he had literally just found this deer and was standing there taking pictures of it. Had I been there a minute sooner it would have been mine. I am so sick right now...

  37. I have no doubt things are good. But keep in mind, reason that prices are high is limited volume (not good for realtors) and an informed buyer or seller will negotiate reduced commissions. At least I did.

  38. Couldn’t resist moving the snowblower out of the way and pulling out the Vespa today. The battery was dead, so I let it charge and took it up to the gas station and liquor store for another bottle of Teeling. I’m not quite ready to wash it yet, I’m not convinced this weather is going to last all that long with snow in the forecast later in the week. The dust doesn’t hurt the way it rides.

You should try it at closer range , a good optic on it will really hope zero in you center of pattern .. 46. I got my motorcycle license before my regular license. Went from April-sept the year I was 16 with just a bike. A brand new CBR 600rr that I payed cash for. I kept than one until 2009 and sold it with 67k miles. Now I have an 06 HD Road King 14 Honda CBR 1000rr 12 Suzuki DRZ 400 supermoto. Don’t ride near as much as I did with my work schedule and 3 boats but I do enjoy riding and I have no payments and have the room for them. The HD’s nice for a long ride once or twice a year. The CBR’s nice for when I want to go 0-100 in “holy shit.” And the DR Z is a smile machine, it’s amazing how much fun a 40hp single cylinder bike can really be! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
