  1. Awesome morning, I had a Tom gobbling of the roots, but it soon it pitch down it headed to the cut corn field with the hens. As I was watching the Tom , I hear a few gobbles behind me. I began to call and five Jakes and a hen came and at about 15 yards. I decided to take one of the Jake’s, which I am happy about about Primary weapon- God Secondary- Mossberg 935 County of kill - Yates

  4. Moved from just listening by car to into where birds should be later morning…. I hope. Woodthrush’s are singing beautifully. And I’m camped out in huge leek patch I’ll dig into later. Killed a couple birds from below this tree so good juju at least.

  5. Gotnit done for friend ive been taking out for last few years 1st 2 days of season. Didnt get the big one to come in as he had dominant hen with him. And she pulled him down the hill. We did a quick reposition after walking in roundabout a few hundred yards to get ahead and on same level as flock. Was able to pull a group of jakes away and after 20 minutes of them coming in leaving, calling back in, he was finally able to see a beard on one though they were gobbling . His 2nd bird in 4 years of hunting. Made a great shot, bang and flop... done at 7 am.

  6. Got to my spot at 4:50. First gobbles were at 5:10 from what I figured was a group of jake's 75 yards out as they were all in the same tree . Several other birds gobbling in different spots within 200 yards. At 5:20, 6 jakes landed at 15 yrds. Couple minutes later I see a full fan headed my way. The jakes started after him, and I figured they were going to run him off. They pestered him for a minute, and he broke strut and rapidly headed my way with the jakes right behind him. Shot him at 5:35. 26lbs, 1 1/8 spur, 9" beard. On the way out I spotted another group across the road. I'll go after those another day.

  9. I love the whole things drizzled in olive oil, salt, pepper and then grilled quick to a light char. Sometimes I will do that in a sauté pan inside so I can let the bulbs cook a little longer.

  12. I can’t wait for organized sports with my daughter so I live through you guys. For now, she’s in “multi-sports” every Sunday, dance every Friday and music Tuesday. Sunday was soccer at multi-sports. She’s 27months old but I got her dribbling the ball pretty well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  16. Got in at 5 am and set up in roost area bird starting gobbling 70 yards down hill from me ,was big tom i wanted. Had hen roosted 20 yards below me and a jake 50 yards up hill. 3 other hens flew down below me and 2 my right , then the dominate hen to my right 40 yards the tom pitched down 10 yards past hen and went into full strut, the jake landed about 35 yards from me but had no visable beard. I had a poke at tom at 50 yards but wasnt comfortable doing so as its a really nice bird and he never came out of strut the jake came to within 20 but i let him join rest of flock as the headed away to the lake. Was a good morning got out before it started raining..

  18. I had a lot of gobbling from in the dark until 6 and they started back up at 10. I might make it until Wednesday before I fall back into my 8-12 routine. Getting up at 4 to hear them gobble from the tree only to go silent when their hens show up is something I tire of very quickly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. A comedy of errors for me this morning. Overslept, nature’s call, gun jammed, no gobbles 5am-Noon. Still a great morning in the woods.

  20. Got it done with my hunting buddy of 25+ years. He shot his first turkey ever, a jake this morning about 300 yards away from where I killed my first turkey 25 years ago. Got the whole thing on video too. He's pretty pumped.

  22. While on the hunt for a 1911 the other day, I happened across this little gem of a pistol and couldn’t pass it up. It’s a S&W Model 39, and though it’s hard to date it without the S&W letter, I’m guessing it’s early to mid-60’s. I had a passing knowledge of these pistols before seeing it, knowing they were quality old guns, but a deep dive into the history of the 39 warms my “old gun loving” heart. Just waiting on my amendment to come through so I can take it out and shoot it. I picked up 600rnds of 9mm at the auction last night, so I’m more than set once I get it

  23. While everyone else was chasing turkey, I decided to clear the trails from all the downed tree branches and found that some chucks decided to make a home in one of the hay fields. I picked a spot 30 yards in the woods on a ridge overlooking the field and set up shop. While scanning the fields, one of the burrowing devils popped up 20 yards to my right. I thought it was another dam tree rat squirrel making a racket and was surprised when I looked over to see a woodchuck. Properly adjusted, a thermal scope is very useable during the day, as long as you don't look into direct sunlight. The BAE sensor in the Thermion XG50 is really impressive. https://youtu.be/EDPer1czAz4

  28. Although lasik was wonderful and still is, I depended more and more on reading glasses . I’m not sure which model I have , but it’s become difficult to see the front sight . Id go with which ever has the biggest , or add a scope, which won’t be added to mine though .

  31. Yeah, there is some logic ahead that this might be a recession with a long period of recapture. Doomsday people referring to the 1920s and how long it took for the market to return to those levels - 25 years or so. Hopefully that is not the case, but I can see a 2-5 year bumpy road IMO. To me the biggest issue is also the most simple - supply and demand. The world population is growing and demand is outstripping supply in what seems like anything that matters. Housing, cars, wood, rare elements, healthcare, logistics, fuel/power, food, etc. I'm not very optimistic that we'll get back to the days of excess and easy sourcing any time soon. Scale is becoming a more complex challenge to supply. I am definitely becoming more interested in other revenue streams beyond market investing. I'm hesitant to get into rentals, but it sure seems like the writing is on the wall for demand for the long-term.

  33. Depends on the day, I’ve heard some of the most gobbles when it was pouring and I’ve had them be silent when it’s barely a drizzle. They do tend to go to fields earlier, generally on the highest point of the field so they can see better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  36. Very quiet morning, no shots heard in the neighborhood at all. Never heard a gobble all day. We did have 2 hens come right up against the blind within a couple of feet, they were around us for more than a half an hour. Moved around a couple of times and at 10 decided to check another field. We saw a Tom about 200 yard away, set up and called, never came in. Went further down the lane and saw a different Tom (we think) in the field. Set up on the opposite side of the thick brush pile, had him right behind us for over 20 minutes, could not get him to cross over to our side through an opening. I plan to go out for a couple of hours in the morning. Congrats to all that scored one of natures most delicious wild game animals or just had a great day like I did.

  41. I did the PRK lasik back in November. There still healing but I have no complaints other then a little gritty feeling from time to time. It didn’t do anything for reading or my astigmatism, but the doctor said it could take up to a year. There’s three or four different types of lasik so you need to do your homework and pick a reparable surgeon. I used sightmd https://www.sightmd.com/ Dr. Martin on Long Island. 43. Also, when they write a .50 caliber law, they are too stupid to realize there are many .50 caliber firearms that are not the BMG round, including muzzle loaders. The law bans them all.
