Oh boy so good. Brick oven outdoor pizza and clams posillipo. Giovanni's Inn Wurtsboro NY. Owner has been making pizza starting in queens during the 60's. Had a great conversation, then he took some wild mushrooms he found and gave a magic taste. On cloud nine right now. I've been there four times in two weeks but today was a celebration. My wife went from teacher to assistant principal to principal in consecutive years.

Went to my first spot on the edge of what I call the lower field, set out a Jake and hen decoy. Heard 2 gobbles on the roost, heard him fly down but never saw him. Maybe 15 minutes later I hear a few gobbles in the upper field. Try to call him in but no response. Had 3 deer stare and stomp at my dekes for almost an hour. Knowing I might have to go to work I decide to check the upper field on the way back home. Didn't see anything so I'm about to throw in the towel then a hawk flys off a tree and screams causing this Tom to shock gobble. He was in the field but behind just enough of a rise where we couldn't see each other. Quickly I set out the hen deke and sit in some thick stuff nearby. Give him a couple clucks and I see the periscope head pop up. He was about 80 yards to my left and the brush I was sitting in was pretty thick so I had trouble keeping eyes on him. But he quickly started strutting and pacing back and forth but wouldn't come any closer. I'm guessing he couldn't see my decoy because of the terrain. He looked like he was going to leave so I gave him some soft yelps. He gobbled and slowly headed my way in full strut. Got with 15 yards but I couldn't get a shot through that thick brush. He stayed within 20 yards of me for like 20 minutes but wouldn't walk out for a shot. He gobbled once so close I could feel it! He started to lose interest and slowly headed back in the direction he came from. He would take a few steps then look back at the deke for a while. I waited for just the right time and stuck my head out the brush, then waited for him to put his head down to raise the gun. Head came back up... trigger got pulled! About a 40 yard shot with the mossberg 500 20 gauge. Smallest spurs I ever saw on a gobbler with a full fan. Only measured 5/8 but had an 8 inch beard. Think I'll do a gobbling mount! Tapatalk doesn't seem to want to work anymore with my phone.. or actually its probably just me navigating it wrong lol.. Yesterday A.M. My first morning out.. (Found out how much Turkeys and Owls get along..) Got setup on a typical roost ridge, lucky for me there was a Tom there,2 minutes After a soft tree yelp, followed by fly down cackle and my hat flapping.. he pitched into my setup, 20 yards left, but no clear shot. I let him walk away with his hen as he was heading the direction i did not want him to go..so I sat quiet and I let him be to try a roost attempt in another day or two.. After checking the rest of that property for a tom that wanted to be play, and then another property, followed by 2 more other properties with zero luck..I decided to go get some work done, On my last attempt to strike a bird I figured I would try my 12 acre camp, and as I had a feeling might happen, I strike a bird, sounds like a good one at that.. I got around on him and started reeling him in.. Just as i can make him out coming through the woods at 75 yards.. an owl comes in fast and lands on a limb between us and let out some noises Ive never heard before staring in my direction with intent.. lol as well as the Tom's.. The owls approach quickly sent the Tom the other direction and he never made a peep the rest of the day.. I Gave my brother some MRI of the days adventures.. and he went in after the same Roost setup but not a bird was there, and the hill was silent minus light hen talk.. He packed up after a bit to find the bird the Owl bumped on me.. He found him in close to the same spot as I did.. Called him in to 40 steps and the gun went click.. he quickly racked a second shell only to hear that one go click also... By now the bird is alert and walks off quick.. He knew where he was headed and got around on him and sat quietly.. 20 minutes later.. the bird lost his soul.. 1.5" spurs 24# 10" Beard

Fished a stocked stream today and there were lots of fish rising. Thats enough euronymphing until fall, ITS ON! I caught a tagged rainbow too which I believe is part of a local fishing contest. Hes still out there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I have enjoyed hunting turkeys this year emensly. I made it a point to focus all of my energy into public land. I can hunt my lease anytime but I like tax free meat, lol. I have done 1o/11 days(went to syracuse mets game for mothers day), only left the woods before noon twice, one day I had to be responsible, and today I filled tag #1 @730am. I have seen and heard so many amazing things this spring. I feel so fortunate. Today it culminated in a double with my best friend. Our kills happened 1.5 hours apart but it couldn't be more of a double.

thats what i said but apparently everyone can draw 55 pounds like nothing where Belo lives. And there thats also the minimum. And 16 is the youth season there too. Who knew. ... its quite a place. apparently they are also of the woke variety since this is considered sexist to think a 14 yo girl might struggle with-Yet its ok for him to post borderline porn pics but afraid to post his deer pics on a hunting site. Must be good to be the mayor in his town. "The minimum draw weight for hunting is not attainable for many teens. Women are becoming a larger percentage of the hunting population as well. Plus a xbow on a stand is generally a bit easier than a compound. There is no reason to think that using a xbow for the first part of hunting means that no one will ever pick up a bow. I have killed appx 130, and my biggest spurs were 1 7/16....I can count the 1 3/8 on one hand and I mat have killed a dozen or so 1 1/4.... That's a hell of a bird....Congrats...

WTH are you talking about ..... Nothing you said here was said in any of my comments. You should go easy on the day drinking. First of all it's not 55 it's 35. And my ex wife struggled with it when she got into target shooting. Secondly there are guys here that can't draw 55 lbs so no idea what your talking about for sure. And my point was a 14 year old ( which is youth hunting age not 16) girl or boy for that matter is likely to struggle pulling back a bow but might get interested if they could use an xbow. Then once they turn 16 they are no longer a youth and would switch to using a bow because they are now hooked on hunting. But whatever......pour another one and enjoy the day. It's beautiful out. Always wondered why the elders were always reading the obituaries - Now I know! Having achieved the age of 62, I have encountered much death over the last year and a half. On the personall side, My Father, My younger brother, my dog, my 2 cats - it's almost exhausting and truly depressing. Time is running out for some of us sooner than later and it's the only thing you can't buy more of. Enjoy each and every day as best you can. Garden boxes built and paper laid. Just have to pick a day to drop soil in and tighten things up and attach fence EDIT > forgot to add that these boxes are 4x4, so I got 64sqft. You sound like a woke idiot! Been hanging out with chef and lefty? As stated my daughter can’t draw the legal minimum. My ex wife was a college softball player and she couldn’t draw 55lbs. I’m pretty sure I remember Tiffany talking about drawing 42lbs. Not to mention most able men can probably draw a 100lb bow back in their yard in august. On a 10 deg. Congrats some nice birds so far!!!! I’ve been messing around with this bird since opening day,but he doesn’t make a sound except in the afternoon and on the roost. He roost on mine or the property next to me almost every night never a peep out of him in the morning then I see him all over the neighborhood. I’m moving on and looking for another bird. 3 weeks 18 pounds . I have to say I’m totally used to the eating aspect now. I feel lighter and more energetic. I probably would’ve lost more but I decided to get into the vodka the other day!

I'm sure there are plenty of able bodied people who would struggle with 55lbs. But isn't minimum draw weight 35lbs anyway?

12U is now 4-0 8U is now 2-0 Both close games. My oldest still does not have a hit. She swings way to late and way to slow. This is only her second year playing and she did not play the last 2 years. So it's a big difference from the last time she played in 8U to now 12U. She will get there eventually but she will never be a superstar but that's ok by me. She has fun and gets the team together to cheer on and do there weird chants. @The_Real_TCIII knows what I'm talking about. The youngest was 3-4 in her first game and 4-4 in her game tonight. They are still using machine pitch but for as little as she is she sure puts some anger into those swings. LOL

Apparently this local hawk is a fan of the "pond". He chased off a squirrel and a deer.

I cleaned up an old Remington this past summer with liberal amounts of CLP and some 000 Steel Wool. A lot of the rust was just surface stuff that came off very easily and it had a good amount of bluing underneath.

Same 3 Jakes, I assume, came in with 2 hens. Still got the blood pumping!
