  1. I have been looking at getting a 1911 for a few months now, and just kind of bouncing around through shops to see what I liked, what I could afford, and ultimately, what I wanted. After handling several guns, I decided that I wanted a Commander sized gun that didn’t max out my budget, and most of all a gun that I wouldn’t be afraid to shoot the daylights out of. The Ruger fit the bill on all of those fronts. I remember kind of drooling over the full size when it came out in 2011, but trying to support my wife and I on a High School teachers salary with a spouse in vet school, even an entry level 1911 was out of the question. That changed last week, when I visited a little shop in Washington County and found this gun for a decent price. It’s nice and tight, and outside of the shop or previous owner pretty much drowning the thing in oil, it looked great and was exactly what I was looking for. I picked it up today, and got all of the excess oil (and dirt) off of it. The thing looks pretty much brand new, and with the box and all the goodies, it can pretty much pass as such. I am going to dress it up a little bit with some Ruger “Eagle’s Wings” grips, but outside of that, I plan on leaving it pretty much stock Best of all, I got it in time to take back home to Illinois and plink with my dad a bit. That in itself is priceless.

  2. Loved my Trident so much I ordered a custom Ultra XR . Trident is a little big and heavy to carry all the time and causing havoc on my back right pocket of jeans and shorts wearing holes lol. Have carried a knife since I was 8 ( 45 years ago ) . There are better knives out there but been extremely happy with the Trident and the edge she holds. This new one is super light too. Buddy made cutting board knives displayed on.

  3. Watkins Glen , Seneca Lodge . Starting in 1951 they hosted the state and national field archery tournament. If you won you got to shoot your arrow into the wall behind the bar ! Today they host a big buck contest ( by weight as it should be ) and the winner gets to shoot his arrow . There’s an arrow shot by Ted Nugent as well as that signed recurve. Winners at the Glen hang their winners Laurel there as well . Great spot right at the entrance to the campground , highly recommend. Oh also my tired feet as I suck down ipas .

  4. I will survive if I don't harvest meat, but I pride myself in feeding my family almost entirely from the outdoors. We buy some dairy, fruits, vegetables and drinks, but grow as much as we can and fill our freezer with game and fish.

  7. I own 4 revolvers a .22, .357, .44 and a .177 bb replica. I love their accuracy and forgiveness. Its a heavy framed revolver so it absorbs alot of the recoil. The hammer is a bit unique as is the cylinder release after you get used to that it's a great revolver. I think @Buckmaster7600 could speak on the semi automatic pistols.

  10. Retardo Montalban was out in back of my house on the shooting range this morning gobbling up a storm, I put my Howard Leight hearing amplifier muffs on and listened for any distant return gobbles. Other than his harem of Hens yelping on occasion no other Toms were heard. Al

  16. There’s maybe 2% of people who can hunt to save money at the grocery store. For everyone else it’s a hobby and passion where the reward is usually something else with the bonus of meat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. Struck those same 3 Jakes deep in the hardwood. They didn't gobble until I was within 100 yards of them. One of them caught me glassing him and they went deeper down the hill. I swear they are the only 3 gobblers up here this year. Edit:. You know it's time for a fresh ThermaCELL blue mat when:. You watch a mosquito land on the one you're using.

  22. Jumped on the scale I’m in the 240’s now down almost 30 lbs. 30 more to go. I’ve lost almost 30 in a month. I am going to jump off next weekend because I’ll be crushing beers up at my cabin for the holiday weekend. But right back on Tuesday morning. I will enjoy a slice of pizza from Julie’s in springville also.

  27. Still got the boat ? I don’t know of a better mid-sized outboard ever made by any manufacturer, than those old Johnson 70 hp, 3 cylinder 2 strokes. I have an 1999, that I bought new. It hasn’t missed a beat, since 2000, when it got a new power pack under warranty. It has the VRO injection system, which is nice because you don’t have to mix the gas, spark plugs last a long time, and it don’t smoke much at trolling speed. I can’t stand today’s heavy 4 stroke outboards. My back is still sore from lifting my father in law’s Honda 9.9 hp onto his barge this spring. This rig is light enough to tow with my wife’s minivan if I want to.

  35. School team lost today…not dead yet but getting out of the loser bracket to Loved on means winning Monday and Wednesday and then Saturday…pitching probably ain’t gonna hold up. Prom last night did not help- the boys were just flat plus 95 degrees on the field. Kid went 1-3 and only DH’ed resting the shoulder still. Hoping for Monday’s game but most likely coach will hold him back for More rest and then have him for Wednesday- he doesn’t love that. 12u -14u bats get crazy $$$. Thankfully I had twin who were playing together so I got plenty of bang for the buck Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
