  1. Father's day came early this year and very unexpectedly Wed night at 8:58pm, Caysen Joseph joined us at 35 weeks and 3 days, Weighing in at 6lbs 19¾" long. Spent a couple hours in the NICU for monitoring but so far has been doing well and finally were able to come home today. Momma is doing good as well even with the unexpected induction for preeclampsia and big brother and sister are thrilled.

  2. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads here, and take a moment to fondly remember the dads who are no longer with us. Hope everyone has a great day!

  3. Hit the inlet last night. It was windy and rough. Managed a good striper on top water. What a blast. That 1.5 mile walk through the sand each way was the best workout I’ve had in years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Yesterday was tough fishing. Barely 60° and wind blowing backwards. It took 2 of us 4.5hrs to catch our 10 keeper bass for the evening fish fry. Only one 20"er we returned to the water. Catch and release day for a quick trip out this morning was a lot nicer. Sunny with a light wind(still backwards). Picked up a bunch of bass with one 22"er and drifted past Mrs. Loon. My arms aren't long enough to long arm her. lol. I had to hold her next to me to fit into the frame. Edit.. After a little reading , it turns out that it could be Mr. Loon . Apparently they share nesting duties.

  6. Not a bad Father’s Day morning on the upper Niagara. (5) “keeper” smallmouth (12-1/8”, 12-3/8”, 17”, 18-1/2”, and 19-3/4”). My buddy caught (2) and I caught (3), plus a 15ish pound sheephead. I release all bass over 20”, so that last one was just shy of “freedom”.

  8. We are 3-0 in pool play in the Eden 10u tournament. Our last game we were up 4 in the last inning they score 5. Bottom of the inning they walk our first 2 batters. Then the next two kids watch strike 3. Now 2 outs runners on 2nd and 3rd my son is up and rips the first pitch into center field . Walk off . Such a great feeling as coach and dad! Hopefully we can pull it off tomorrow.

  9. I'll admit it. I'm a carp freak. After trout season, I spend many summer nights chasing them. Probably my favorite fish to catch. Got two nice ones tonight so far.

  11. If you wanted to be left alone, you wouldn't be posting the things you post on social media. You do realize you're not invisible or anonymous while on the web, right? You also made it very clear you won't be standing up for anything in another thread. You made clear you'll be hiding stuff so "big brother" won't have any reason to bother you. I won't be feeding your nonsense anymore, or anyone else who comes here just to be disruptive and copy and paste other people's thoughts.

  12. The lake Champlain annual father's day tournament has been a challenge this yr. High winds and very ruff waters have kept us in sheltered coves. So far we caught 12 catfish, dinks, one bowfin, and one bass that I weighed in @ 4.71 lbs. Oh and a crap load of bullhead, and one eel. Unfortunately bullhead and eel are not eligible in the contest. PIc doesn't reflect the size of the bass, but the official scales shows 4.71lbs. Usually by now our team has a 20lb+ catfish the board, but today our biggest was a whopping 4.37, lol.

  17. That sucks! Have a great Father's Day, regardless. My daughter met me at one of the properties this morning and we spend three hours with chainsaw and forest clearing saw, hacking the jungle back from the ATV trails. That's the kind of father's day gift I appreciate!

  21. While this may be true in the perfect world. This is an over simplified explanation "dumbed down".. The problem that I have seen is the cash flow.. A smaller operation with limited resources is extremely stressed by the increasing costs. Business buys $10,000 dollars of gas ,profits $500. Next tank fill up costs $14,000 profits up to $700. Only an extra $200 profit but they had to pull an extra $4000 from somewhere. Until prices even out or go the other way money is being pulled from somewhere to cover the extra cost of fuel.. After many concurrent months and or years of this, $ is gone.. This why many, if not most undercapitalised businesses fail . A large or well off business can roll through these times easier and at the end of the day make more money. But it kills the little guy.

  25. I just wrapped up planting our garden this morning. (2) more rows of candy corn (89 day), and (2) rows of silver queen (92 day). I planted (4) rows of cappuccino (72 day) and (2) rows of candy corn on the weekend before Memorial Day. That is about a foot tall now and I cultivated and hoed it, after I finished planting this morning. That makes about a half acre total of sweetcorn for us, in addition to the (2) acre field corn “deer/turkey garden” farther out back. I hope to get that cultivated and sprayed next weekend, because it looks like the grass and weeds are growing faster than the corn back there. Usually, the coons start hitting the sweetcorn, just after it starts making ears. I start trapping them at that time (late July). NY state allows landowners to trap and kill “damaging” coons before the October start of regular trapping season, but the carcasses need to be burried or burned, prior to the trapping season opener. After that, they can be tossed out in the fields to feed the buzzards. The furs have not been worth the effort to remove for going on 20 years now. A couple deer came out, in the adjacent clover plot, as I was hoeing this morning. It looks like they chewed a few corn plants down to the ground the last few days. I thinned it out a little further today with the cultivator and hoe. Hopefully, we will have plenty of fresh sweetcorn throughout the months of August and September. I can’t wait to start taking out the coons. I don’t get them all, because that’s impossible and because field corn that has been knocked down by coons is more attractive to deer (and much more attractive to turkeys), than standing corn. With only (2) acres of field corn planted this year, I’ve got to get most of them or it won’t last thru the Holiday ML season.

  38. So we cancelled the kids coming over for Fathers Day . Even though we didn’t have fevers , symptoms were mild and we’re just past the quarantine period . Oldest is in a wedding next week and her fiancé is in an EMT class, as he took the County Fire test and you have to have your EMT prior to getting hired. Just couldn’t risk them getting it here and missing class and the wedding . Youngest is coming, she wants Zweigles on the grill lol .

  40. My brother caught it the same day as Fauci - I asked him whether there's something he wants to tell me lol. The wife and I are still waiting, but assume that it will eventually hit us. The daughter got it during finals week of her junior year of college, so that sucked; she was down for 4-5 days. I think it's safe to say at this point that it really is similar to a bad cold or the flu. Now we keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't mutate in the wrong direction, however unlikely that may be. I'm glad to hear that all who've got it recently seem to be faring decent. Nomad, was that you in the leopard skin Speedo I saw last weekend? I have one just like it.
