  6. If the old guy trying to do his best for his country includes tanking 401k's, all time high interest rate, having Americans choose between eating and filling up their gas tanks to get to work, Reducing inflation by spending money and hiring 87,000 IRS agents to further harass Tax payers, he's doing an exemplary job for this country ! The issue is that he doesn't know what team he's playing for, but why deal in reality, when you can live in the liberal utopia now and kick the can down the road for the sucker taxpayers to pay for later. Where's that $52 billion coming from, when America is over 30 trillion in debt ?

  8. Anyone put in for their time off yet for deer season? I took the first day off just because I can’t wait all year and miss the first day. Then I’m hoping to take from October 26th-November 8/9th, then from november 13-November 30. Fortunate enough to have 3.5 weeks left going into the fall with no plans but to hunt. We will see if it gets approved when I meet with my boss next week about it. But I’m sure I’ll get called in or asked to pick up a shift in those days which as long as the weather isn’t good I probably will.

  10. My September 10, opening day of early gun season, target doe made an appearance as I was clearing shooting lanes. She looks like a good healthy momma. Her fawn is almost 1/2 her size. Plenty big enough to make it on its own, after the 10th, if she makes it to deer heaven (my freezer). I cleared a dead ash tree that fell last winter, blocking the view from the upper deck of my 2-story blind, along with some other brush that was obstructing shooting lanes at a few locations. If we get the rain they are predicting next week, I will cut the clover in front of that double decker, and in a few other spots. Then it will be nice and tender on September 10. I will need the bush hog on back for ballast, to move another truck cap blind with the tractor, but it is too dusty to mow clover until after we get a good rain (plus it’s not good to cut it when it is real dry). Here is how that stand looked before. I also replaced the missing sideboard up top. I will be ready to hunt on the 10th, after I finish a few more small tasks: 1) plant (2) more fresh wheat/clover plots, 2) set up my pop up blind, 3) move the truck cap blind, 4) purchase shooting sticks, 5) A little more target practice with my 12 ga bolt action shotgun and my crossbows.

  18. Good day off. Got out to check the rifle to be sure it's still on. Gotta love one shot and done! Esp these days with the availability of ammo. But the 30/30 is good to go. Then went to the Amish store for some sausage spices. Then out to hunting land. Checked out plots and they are looking good. The one I planted 2 weeks ago at wayback is growing great in spots and nothing in others. So gonna seed a few spots there again. But even the ones I did just a week ago have popped. Good to see! Also got 3 stands cleared for shooting lanes and new straps on them. Clover in the trails also looks great from our frost seeding. Then shot the xbow and that is on and ready! Was planning tomorrow to put in our last little plot but the farmer cut it all and we have to wait for them to bail it now. So hopefully they do that today or tomorrow so we can get that in Sunday. Looks like 4 days of rain after and it would be perfect. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

  20. I take the week of NT muzzleloading season every year. It is my favorite weather, and even if I am not hunting, I could be fishing (like I am the first three days this year), riding my HD, etc. I also take the last week of NT off every year...the week after thanksgiving. I always have my best luck then. Not a lot of people in the woods, and there is usually snow. I will also likely be up to the camp for a long week end Veterans Day week end.

  25. I've been fishing the salmon river for the las 13 years, so I've learned a thing or two up there. I may forget a thing or two, but you're more than welcome to pm me. End of sept is a good time to catch salmon. Some years the main run is later, but there will be fish in the river. First you'll want a good pair of waders with either felt bottoms or some type of screw in the boot. Last thing you want is to be swept down river while fishing. I suggest getting a breathable wader since the weather will probably be warmer. Id suggest one of you guys to buy a big net, but its not 100% necessary as you can beach or ask someone to net your fish. Bring a good set of sunglasses. I prefer polarized in order to see the fish resting and coming up river, but its more about protecting your eyes. You will get hit with random split shot from someones line if you fish there enough. I almost knocked a guy out when my split shot recoiled back after a fish popping off. Buy plenty of split shot and hooks. I use the tin split shot up there and prefer #2, but a lot of people hate them. You wont be able to buy lead split shot in NY. For hooks I used blackird hooks in #2, but mustad is a very popular choice to use up there too. I wouldn't go much bigger than #2 though. You'll want a 9ft rod or longer. If you fly fish, you'll want a 9wt (8 being the absolute minimum) I fished for years using a cabelas medium action noodle rod, and caught a ton of fish. Now I use a fly rod and would never go back. Not gear but learn how to tie a snell knot. It'll increase your hook up ratio big time. Any knot will do though. I also suggest you learn how to tie it standing with gear in your hands. Once you move, your spot is up for grabs and someone will take it. If you're respectful with a group of guys, they may allow you in the rotation of spots that guys will usually do. Bring a vest if you can. Not critical, but it'll help big time when you're tying out on the river. Bring a good stringer if you can in order to keep fish in the river. Use maxima chameleon line. Pretty much a standard up there and since its the same color as the water, its pretty good. I used 12 pounds for years with great success, but I use 15 now since switching to a fly rod. Learn how to bottom bounce. These fish wont be biting, so you're really trying to floss them. The steelhead will bite, but they will be far and few between when you'll be up there. If you're lucky, you'll hit a run of coho. I've never been able to, but all the videos tell me that I want to one day. Be careful how you lift, you don't want to be hit for snagging. For bait I use atlas mike eggs, but since the salmon wont be biting, there's nothing wrong with a bit of sponge. Get to the river early if you want to save a spot. Guys usually get there when its dark to capitalize on the first light run and to save a spot.

  27. And who's the worlds producer of silicon for those Chips ? You guessed it, China, the ones who bought Biden. So we're basically supplying China with all the money they need to take over Taiwan. So Biden will have funded two wars while President, Terrific and not bad for a feeble old man that's trying to do his best for this country.

  30. Make one of those bucket traps. The ones where they climb up try to get peanut butter off spinning bottle and drop in bucket. Works really well, and catches a lot without resetting

  34. Update: Replaced camera batteries today and decided to throw caution to the wind and try and find/walk as many of the deer paths as I could find. Below is a birds eye view along with as an area of interest I found, a legit buck bed. Its ~40yds from some apple trees, 60yds from the field edge. I created a mock scrape 100yds away at an intersection of trails. Bad luck though, my camera didnt have service in there so I just need to “hope” the scrape gets used. Overall it looks like a good early season opportunity to try the ol Dan Infalt Beast Tactics… try and get close to that bed and catch him going to those apples or the scrape. Win or lose, this is gonna be fun! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
