  6. Goodness, North, this seems out of character for you. Traitor, vile, treacherous? To whom did she commit treason? This is the oath she took: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

  7. SST are a love or hate. I know several who like them and many who don't. I'm going to generalize here because this is my opinion, but every single person who has ever said they like the SSTs have been people who aren't as serious or don't put time in. It's a weird observation but everyone I know who likes them are a few rounds down the lane kind of guy and are always running low so they're on the lookout for them. I don't get it. Even my FIL loves them, but he shoots maybe 2-3 slugs a year and calls it done. I only ever seen him hit the broadside of the barn once - and of course it was a long range dart, lol. All other times...not sure he'd hit Lake Ontario if he aimed at it.

  9. COSTELLO: I want to talk about the unemployment rate in America. ABBOTT: Good Subject. Terrible Times. It's 5.6%. COSTELLO: That many people are out of work? ABBOTT: No, that's 23%. COSTELLO: You just said 5.6%. ABBOTT: 5.6% Unemployed. COSTELLO: Right 5.6% out of work. ABBOTT: No, that's 23%. COSTELLO: Okay, so it's 23% unemployed. ABBOTT: No, that's 5.6%. COSTELLO: WAIT A MINUTE. Is it 5.6% or 23%? ABBOTT: 5.6% are unemployed. 23% are out of work. COSTELLO: If you are out of work you are unemployed. ABBOTT: No, Biden said you can't count the "Out of Work" as the unemployed. You have to look for work to be unemployed. COSTELLO: BUT THEY ARE OUT OF WORK!!! ABBOTT: No, you miss his point. COSTELLO: What point? ABBOTT: Someone who doesn't look for work can't be counted with those who look for work. It wouldn't be fair. COSTELLO: To whom? ABBOTT: The unemployed. COSTELLO: But ALL of them are out of work. ABBOTT: No, the unemployed are actively looking for work. Those who are out of work gave up looking and if you give up, you are no longer in the ranks of the unemployed. COSTELLO: So if you're off the unemployment roles that would count as less unemployment? ABBOTT: Unemployment would go down. Absolutely! COSTELLO: The unemployment just goes down because you don't look for work? ABBOTT: Absolutely it goes down. That's how it gets to 5.6%. Otherwise, it would be 23%. COSTELLO: Wait, I got a question for you. That means there are two ways to bring down the unemployment number. ABBOTT: Two ways is correct. COSTELLO: Unemployment can go down if someone gets a job? ABBOTT: Correct. COSTELLO: And unemployment can also go down if you stop looking for a job? ABBOTT: Bingo. COSTELLO: So there are two ways to bring unemployment down, and the easier of the two is to have people stop looking for work. ABBOTT: Now you're thinking like a Democrat. COSTELLO: I don't even know what the hell I just said! ABBOTT: Now you're thinking like Biden.

  10. Here is the latest update. I bought Gunner one of those expensive Dokken Canada Goose dummies to train him to retrieve geese in addition to ducks. It is fairly large and heavy but Gunner had no problem retrieving it. I'm getting him ready for the early September Canada Goose season. valoroutdoors.com

  11. It would warm my heart if the judge deems which portions are unconstitutional and then in the opinion warns that if unconstitutional laws within this same frame work are passes and brought to the Supreme Court for a third time within such vague time frame that it would be his recommendation for SCOTUS to hold sponsors of the bills and the governor in contempt of court. I mean all other states with similar laws that were affected respected the SCOTUS ruling but NYS is intentionally being spiteful. Governor even said so. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

  17. Accutips - and when you find them, but every single box so you have a stock pile. Sabots are hard to come by in the premier offerings like the Accutips. You'll see a split on fans of the Hornady SSTs - some people like them and some do not. I am most definitely in the do not category. They run hot IMO and across the board been inconsistent lot to lot for me any time I have ever tried them. Winchester and Federal offer other premier options, but those too, can be rare. I bit the bullet, pun intended, and have 15 ish boxes of Accutips. Two seasons ago we ran into a big issue finding them. Should be more available than 2020 or 2021 but still, not easy, to find. Hint - Batavia Dick's store has a few boxes of 12 g Accutips as of Sunday. Pricing was not cheap but again, is what it is.

  19. Back when we used shotgun, we used Remington Copper Sabots or (Accu Tips now) for years. Tried numerous other brands, but these always shot the best from our guns. Performance on deer was very good as well, out to 125 yards. that was the farthest shot taken between us. Quite a few DRT drops too.

  29. Generally unchanged from past few years, although I will admit to being more ambitious with higher hopes having more time on a new property and some food plots and lots of off season work that I hope pays off. 1. Always at the top of my list is to enjoy the time away from a hectic life. Enjoy my woods therapy and not to make it feel like a chore. 2. At least 2 hunts with my oldest 2 boys, even if we don't see a bit of brown. 3. Put at least 2 deer in the freezer with a goal of 3 (2 bucks and a doe or 2 does and a buck, it all works out). 4. A 2.5 or better bow buck, preferably a 3.5 but I wont eat tag soup if a nice 2.5 gives me a shot.

  30. It’s the time of year that I start thinking about what my goals are for this years hunting season. The past year has blessed me with a new baby girl, a new energy for youth development work after Covid, and just an overall desire to enjoy all of the great things that I have available in my life. So, here’s what I hope to accomplish in the 2022 hunting season… 1. I am taking one of my 4-H members hunting for the first time next month. He just got his first hunting license, and we are meeting next week to settle on a gun and learn some outdoor skills. This year I’m going to take him squirrel hunting, and I am confident I can get him on a few bushy tails next month. Then, I hope to have him come along with me on a few deer hunts in November. I’ll have him help me with cameras, scouting and placing a ground blind. 2. I was gifted an old Winchester Model 12 dating to 1913 (4 digit serial). I got it cleaned up as well as I can, and finally found some 2 1/2” 20 gauge shells online, which arrived earlier this week. I would like to kill a mess of squirrels with this old gun this season. 3. I would like to expand my squirrel cooking experience. Growing up, we only fried the young squirrels and used the old ones for chowder. I’ve been looking at other recipes, and would like to expand my menu. 4. I would like to finally kill a deer with a muzzleloader. I’ve bagged deer with every other legal tool, but have never taken one with a muzzleloader. My T/C New Englander is going to get a good amount of time in the field this November. 5. Take a deer with a bow and a gun. It’s been years since I’ve had a multi-deer year (my highest was 11 in one season back in Illinois). We’ve been tearing through last years harvest, and I’d like to have 2 in the freezer this year. I’m going to do my best to take one during archery, and one during gun season. I think that covers what I would really like to accomplish this year. Nothing too lofty, and regardless of what happens, I’ll just be happy to get some time in the outdoors and share that experience with the next generation. What are you goals for 2022?

  31. I disagree with you a little here. I think you would agree that the hardest part of turkey hunting is getting one in range, not the shot. Sure some of the newer setups can push a shot into the 50's, but most are still shooting birds 30 and under. Getting a bird to even 60 yards takes good woodsmanship, and calling. Heck some birds are scared off by tom decoys. I'm not trying to pick a fight, just that I don't think tech is making turkey hunting easy.

  32. You are going to have to buy a box or two of the slugs you want to try and shoot them in your gun what shoots good in my gun may not shoot well in your gun. My gun has a 1/33 twist rate and shoots slugs going 1700 fps or slower the best. The best slugs I have shot out of my gun are WW BRI sabots at 1350 to 1450 fps. Most slug gun have a 1/33 or a 1/35 twist rate.

  34. Nesting habitat is gone is biggest issue the fallow fields by me are now in corn production as ethanol is raised the price of corn for feed. Hay is now cut very early in hopes of getting 3 cuttings for silage.. june is cutting month where it use to be july and nest would be hatched. Ealry cutting either destroys the nest or opens it up for easy predation. Birds have a territory and wont nest to colse to each other. So 1 field may only hold 1 or 2 nest depending on its size ..eliminite hundreds of acres of hay field and reproductive success drops way off.

  37. Yes, love the horses! Thanks!! I'm matching the shelves that they already have in a couple of locker rooms. I offered to make them back in April but never got to them as I spent most of my time at my daughters house. The shelves will get a coat of polyurethane. The maintenance guys at NU will hang them. I'm hoping to deliver them on a trailer, weather permitting of course.

  40. It’s mostly about the meat for me. I would like to put (3) mature deer in our freezer this year. We used to go thru (4), but my wife and I will be empty nesters after Aug 26. I would be very thankful, if the first two were early antlerless gun-season does, killed between September 10 and September 18. Most years, I look for antlered bucks with at least (3) points on a side. It has been more than 10 years, since I “settled” for less. If I can manage even one of those early does, then I will be upping that to at least (4) points on a side. I would make an exception for a buck with less points, if I could clearly tell it was a 3.5 yr old or older (not sure if I have ever killed one older than that). Both of my deer hunting spots in the Southern zone, and my spot in the Northern zone, have current deer populations that are considerably above optimum. For that reason, combined with my enjoyment of deer hunting, I will not stop after killing those first (3). There are lots of folks out there who really appreciate any venison that I can give them. I have a next-door neighbor, who has more than a half dozen kids, and has been out of work almost a year, due to illness. They love venison. I will be hunting until all (7) of my tags are filled, or 1/2 hour past sunset on January 1, 2023, whichever comes first.
