I took my metal detector along the bank of the Hudson River yesterday. I wanted to check out an old swimming hole from the early 1900's. It's also a place were I used to go striper fishing. Aside from the usual assorted junk , this is what I found. 9 wheaties , 3 mercury head dimes , 1 skeleton key , 2 buttons , 1 women's ring and a 1893 Barber dime. Metal detecting is a cool hobby.

I've never seen any black bear sign where I hunt , so I was quite surprised to see one on my trail camera. I'm guessing he smelled the bait that I put out for bobcats and coyotes a few months ago. Judging by the size of his ears , he looks pretty small.

Due to some various injuries and surgeries, a few of my hunting buddies are unable to make it out to our planned hunting trip up in the southern ADX the opening weekend of ML (Oct 14-17). I Wanted to throw out an open invite to the group, if anyone wants to join myself and my buddy for a weekend of camping/hunting. If interested let me know and we can coordinate through text/email.

Had a missed call yesterday while I was sleeping before I went to work last night and my gun buck is done so hoping I can get time to go pick him up today.

I've been having a hen come in my yard for the past couple of weeks. Earlier this week, my wife sent me a pic of the hen, a fawn and a doe all in a line coming out into the yard. Since then, they've been coming out to feed together pretty regularly. It's funny watching the fawn trail the hen around the yard and it tries hard to play with it! It gallops circles around the hen acting like a puppy trying to play with an old dog, but she's just not having it! I pulled some trail cam cards today and it seems like the two hang together quite a bit! LOL

Welp my son has been doing his scouting before school when opening up the chickens. Group of deer moving thru our field a little before 7am everyday this week. We got up at 6am this morning and sat in our "shooting shack" on the edge of the field. Around 7:05 he spooted 2 doe moving from our right to our left in some tall grass. They made their way into a mowed section just under 200 yards out. One stop for a perfect broadside shot, i told him to aim just a little over the center line of her body. He shoots and she takes off 30 yards and is in our woods. Maybe 10 seconds later a doe jumps out of the woods into the field at 180 yards. I cant see blood on it and we quickly decide he should take the shot, she drops in her tracks. We make our way out and the doe in the field is a 1.5 yr old, definitely smaller than the first shot. I find good blood just into the woods and decide to go back to the house, shed a layer and grab a knife. We quickly pick up on the blood and its easy to see this deer isnt going far, 30 yards into the woods shes piled up. He has filled our freezer enough i can concentrate on just shooting a buck if one gets me excited the rest of the season. Im hoping in a few weeks to pack a elk in there so we may not need anymore venison. His goal is to get his first archery kill this year.

At least we have a 13 day break from deer hunting in upstate NY right now, so I can get some other work done, like hauling in enough firewood for winter:

I don't hate the idea of cars being able to detect a distracted or impaired driving and either turning on auto pilot or automatically pulling the car over. I'd be open to the idea if the reality made sense on the road. With that said, I don't want the government (or their 3rd party) on the button to deactivate cars based on their objectives and agendas. As for the price of aluminum going up, I found the solution for those hats...

President's inherit the country as the previous president left it. There isn't a reset on Jan 20th. Obama took Bush's economy after the crash of 2008 and built it back up and handed Trump a solid economy who ran with it until Covid literally stopped the world. Biden took that mess on. It's not surprising that inflation is happening worldwide after shutting down for almost two years. Oh, and add in a war in Europe between the biggest oil and food producer in the area. Biden didn't cause inflation (neither did Trump), he just has to deal with it for this country. To answer your question, yes, I believe that Biden has the average guy's best interest in mind.

Left do u actually believe Biden has the avg guys best intrest in mind, I mean if he does hes doing a piss poor job my 401k is the crapper, gas prices , inflation these are the things that concern me the avg guy and they all well suck right now. not saying Trump wasnt an a##hole but at least the avg guy was doing ok under him and yes I think Desantis would be best for this country better then trump and way way better then Biden

No deer seen tonight. I quit 15 minutes before sunset, because I didn’t feel like dealing with another deer carcass tonight, after staying up till midnight butchering a doe last night. Also, I have to take an early flight for work in the morning and needed some time to pack for that. There was a little mishap on my walk out. I had to shoot the pellet gun to unload it and a chipmunk showed up at the wrong place and the wrong time. I wanted to use its tail for making fishing jigs. The .177 pellet looked like it passed thru behind the shoulder and a little high, from about 20 yards away. That temporarily stunned it. Right after I took this picture, it awoke suddenly and scampered into the rock wall, never to be seen again. No tail for me. I guess I should have reloaded and stuck my muzzle in its eye looking for a blink like I ALWAYS do with deer when I walk up to them. I thought I could skip that step with a chipmunk. I re-learned the same lesson that a buddy learned when he dropped a small antlered buck with a high back hit at my place a few years ago. He used his trigger finger to text me that he “had one down”. Too bad he didn’t use it on his trigger instead. That buck got up and got away, never to be seen again.

I came unbelievably close to shooting a six pointer still in velvet. At 22 yards I couldnt see antlers through the scope. I didn't shoot because it was alone so I was suspicious. Ten minutes later he came back out and I could see his rack. As Im watching him a group of does came in. Huge gal with a fawn first and then this one with no fawn in tow. They all locked up (fug east wind) so I decided to shoot. It was only 45 yards or so. Quartering to which I wanted for that shoulder/neck shot with hopefully no tracking. She went down and never even flinched. Once I was in I started thinking this is a bad idea, its too hot and I have too much to do today.
