1. A friend of mine who used to do taxidermy locally shot this ancient old buck in OH back in 2016 and it had been in his freezer ever since. Admittedly, partly due to the fact that it had a giant bullet hole in the cape and very ripped out ears, he never got around to mounting it himself and passed his mess on to me. So, in turn, I saved his deer for last...lol. This deer had an giant cape with a 8.25" eye to nose measurement so I had to take the largest replacement head that Ohio Taxidermy makes and lengthen it by a half an inch to replace the head on the original wall pedestal form. I'm very happy how it came together! I do plan on taking some deer in for the upcoming season. There will be a hike in prices over last year due to supply cost increases across the board (thanks Biden). I haven't settled on what I will charge yet because I haven't had to order any supplies since spring and I don't know exactly how much things have gone up. Anyone interested can PM me on here. Thanks and good like this season!

 3. I told him that I would do it that way for him but he wanted it to look normal...lol. Here is one that I mounted for another buddy last year that also had a droopy ear that I did mount that way...

 6. There was a better offer on this site just earlier today. Camp with ridge runner in the dacks, have some good food, good drink and good times up there with some good folks. Far more worth your time. But to each their own. The Zoo opens for 3k apparently. Good luck if you go. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

 10. forgot to get pics of the fall plot, but it's doing well... at least I think it is because it's green and growing. Not any experience there. Did the final cut on the clover and chicory plot. What I've found is that the shaded areas are doing amazing and those areas without as much cover are more spotty and greater weed pressure.

 12. My 1/4 acre plot of old “free” Whitetail Institute “tall tine tubers” was looking pretty good last Saturday. Lower than recommended seed rate, extra fertilizer worked into the ground before planting, and lots of rain, have made it go bonkers: It still hasn’t drawn any deer out of the adjacent standing corn though. Maybe it will attract some, after they eat up all of that, and we get a hard frost.

 13. I know which hunt I would pick if I had the choice...and I would bet more than .01% of hunters would pick the camping trip over the zoo not that that's relevant....just some facts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

 14. Who in their right mind would want to do this ? Just people that want to brag about shooting a big deer and spending a lot of money to do it. To prove that's it's not easy? Who cares if it is or isn't. I bet if you were spending 10k to shoot a 200 inch deer it would be sure to be made to be pretty easy. If it was so hard people wouldn't pay those amounts for nothing. Is it proven that high fence hunting is hard when a cull buck is picked out that you don't know even exists? And really who cares if it is or isn't. It still isn't the same to most people that consider themselves hunters that enjoy the pride of taking a deer. Chef there is no upside for you if you ask me. Doesn't sound fun in the least bit. Unless your looking forward to enjoying some of FSWs endearing personality while your there. Lol Want a real challenge.... Take a long weekend go to the Dacks and try to get a free range buck. Or hell go to Stewart's and see if you can get a deer out of there. Both would be worth being proud of. A 6 point from the Dacks is more impressive than anything that lives in these pens. This seems about as fun as a firm shot to the groin. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

 18. I was sent this cell phone video clip of a bonified Steuben County giant over the weekend. It's not a deer that I'll even be hunting but I was able to pick up a shed from him back in April. Looks like he added some inches!!!

 19. I believe that his friend who's property it was taken on thought the deer was 8.5 or 9.5...he had a severely broken/droppy ear on his right side so he was easy to keep track of over the years. The ears are fixed with a combination of sewing and using super glue/dryer sheets on the smaller holes and thin areas.

 20. Due to some various injuries and surgeries, a few of my hunting buddies are unable to make it out to our planned hunting trip up in the southern ADX the opening weekend of ML (Oct 14-17). I Wanted to throw out an open invite to the group, if anyone wants to join myself and my buddy for a weekend of camping/hunting. If interested let me know and we can coordinate through text/email.

 21. Everyone has a limit of what they are comfortable with. I'd never pay for a hunt like that, but if I was invited to try and take a deer like FS is describing, I'd be all over it. No I wouldn't have it mounted or brag about killing it, I'd be upfront about my experience, wether it turned out to be a challenge, or as you think a Bronx zoo hunt. Hell, I shoot squirrels off my bird feeder, don't brag about it but they still taste good.

 24. Sprayed Liquid 11-4-9 on my Kill Plot for the wife last night, The deer are killing it now that the green beans have died and the corn is turning. The clover hay fields are greening up nicely, but they must like brassica plants too. Hope to get some more growth before they destroy it. The Rye/ Wheat is coming up and about 3" tall. I will broadcast a perennial blend here in the beginning of October.

 28. 3 huge issues.. 1.. the poles are shifting weaking the earths magnetic field. allowing more ionized radiation to reach the earth . Last time it happened 40k years ago or so 40% of life was eliminated in oceans as when poles reverse we lose our ozone layer to the solar winds....think being hit by microwaves all day.. we were worried a bout a hole causing faster sun burns... 2nd.. the oceans are full of plastic.. acting like your solar cover on your pool. No money in cleaning up plastic and in fact we could ban all plastic and it would continue to increase in size for next 250 years.. add this to more radiation hitting the earth not being repelled by magnatic field and laws of thermodynamics take over hot water will flow to cold water.. thus the ocean current get further north before cooling as they are hotter due to super heating under these plastic islands.. air currents follow the ocean currents so the jet stream has changed as well 3rd. 1 container ship put out as much emmissions as 250k automobile.. If you think we can stop any of this by going electric you may as well jump off the cliff with the rest of the lemmings..

 31. climate change and global warming discussion wasn't really on the rails here anyway but i'll give my 2 cents. Right in Al Gore's days of hitting his stride with it I was in college at SUNY Buffalo. He assembled a massive presentation with scientific charts, etc with the help of climate experts. We sat through it which was over a couple hours and even had Q&A. I didn't feel any information he presented was false the least bit. it was very well put together in white paper like form. being an engineering student here's where i feel his overall pitch of why fell apart. all the compiled data is a sliver in earths history which in terms of climate has been recorded as having a cyclical change with exceptions being the front end of "ice ages" that nature seems to use as a correction tool. what he was doing was in essence trying to use one day of trading to project futures in the stock market. i do agree that we as a civilization here on earth need to take steps to prevent pollution and be more clean. even participated in a collegiate competition with a portion of the teams diving into "zero-emission" electric snowmobiles for research use in say the polar regions where IC engine exhaust would effect research testing. I strongly feel society is being led down an unfeasible path with EV's and other green energy plans that consume massive amounts of resources before and after to implement that make them not so green. covid lock down may have gone over like a fart in the wind for prevention but one thing it did do was clean up the environment for that short duration of time. we need to stifle our materistic needs and consume less trivial shit to produce less waste. be smart about using things like AC, heat, and minimizing driving/burning of fossil fuels. that'll do more.

 32. PS. Dolphins IMO will be a real test. Strong receiving corp against a potentially depleted/inexperienced secondary. Hyde dinged up, and at one point Bills had their first and sixth round drafts running point on CB1 and CB2. Taron will need to step up IMO.

 37. NW CT is filled with them. Heard something about the cop & good for him. So far this year - 3 sitings of bear on my land (2 in the field last Saturday & 1 was 15 yards from my house a few weeks back). Saw 3 more in town. My concern is not only safety for me & others but it’s impact on deer population. Getting deer on cams but nothing seen in the fields but that should change. Still way early. DEEC called me bc I report all sitings & they were like - yup it’s a problem. Also spoke w legislator who supports bear season. Bottom line - there might be a bear season on my land if necessary.
