  1. Well to my surprise I had an amazing hunt. Four bucks only one shooter and six to eight doe and fawn. Started with the four point in the first picture. The fawn in the second picture almost busted me so I decided to focus on hunting instead of photography. I won't shoot past 25 yards with my recurve so it takes a perfect setup to succeed. I had the four point at 20 yards but just to small especially this time of year. The last deer was a shooter 6 point that was 10 yards away from seeing his demise. I believe a bigger buck about 20 yards behind him in thick woods grunted to him and alerted him something was up. He took a hard right and walked the edge of the food plot but wouldn't go in. That was the end of the fun no more deer after that. But from 4:30 to 6:30 was a blast. Also something was up at the front of my property. As a guess at 6 o'clock from 150 yards away I heard a loud snort three times. Either the bucks were bothering the does or a bear or coyotes were hunting. Lots of bear pictures the last two weeks. By far the most deer I've seen in one day since I bought the 40 acre property six years ago. Now I know why the food plot is down to the ground. Decided to drive home tonight so I don't miss my wife's sonogram tomorrow.

  7. My mother in law just sent me a picture of the decent 6 or 8 pointer across the lake from their house. He looks like a solid 2.5 year old. Hopefully, he crosses over to our side in a couple weeks. He’s a shooter for me up there for sure either with my ML the first week or with my 30/30 the following weekend. I’ve got to recheck the zero on my ML this weekend, because I dropped it while cleaning it, after using it on a doe during the early SZ antlerless season a couple weeks ago. I’ll check my 30/30 also (hopefully one and done with that because I need to conserve ammo).

  9. That kinda happened to me as a teenager. Stop & Shop the grocery store paid me at a supervisor rate. It was like $25/hour instead of my $8/hour and my Sunday/OT was $38/hour instead of $12/hour. I did the math and it worked out to 3 extra weeks of pay, so I quit immediately and got a job elsewhere. like 2-3 months later my friends who still worked there were notified they had to pay it back (a little each paycheck), but they never came after me!

  10. I can't imagine taking a deer to one of the butchers you all describe. I am too picky about cleanliness, timing and how its handled.

  14. We likely will encounter this buck Saturday PM. He is showing up daily day and night. It’ll be exciting to see him and think about potential. We are struggling to put him at 3.5 and pass is in order if he can survive the gauntlet of hunters this year.

  15. the way I look at it is the chef is still willing but fourseasons wants chef to fork over 3 grand in advance, which I think we can all agree is bs. If fourseasons accepts chef handing the 3 grand to an independent 3rd party then that seems fair. If he doesn't accept that offer, I call this a win for chef and the biggest L in the history of this forum for 4 seasons. maybe we can vote on it? lol.

  16. ENE wind should be perfect for the point I want to hunt in the morning... I have not scouted it this year but historically bucks like it. There are a few oak trees and lots of young beech for cover and some hemlock mixed in too. I hope to find out if there is a resident buck there thus year. I saw a decent one 1/2 mile from there crossing the road two days ago. So I guess I am ready, lol. Sharpened my broadheads, packed my gear and just generally excited!!

  17. 9-27-22 #1 An 18 year old huntress shot a 7 pointer last night, then the skies opened up with a 2.5 hour deluge. She and her Dad were able to check out the arrow before the blood got washed off and saw substantial blood, but there was the smell of guts. We arrived at 8:30 this morning and learned that her Dad went out looking this morning, then her cousin. Luckily, they were looking in the wrong direction. This buck only went 275 yards, but there was zero blood on the track. Kunox is a good boy! #2 While on the way to the first track, I received a call for help on a big 8 pointer that’s was shot last night. Rather than drive all the way home to swap dogs, Kunox lucked out and got two in a row. The hunter shot the buck at 28 yards from a 16 foot height, and could clearly see that he hit him high. The hope was that he hit the top of the lungs. Kunox worked his tail off on this one, covering 2.7 miles. It became obvious that coyotes were involved as Kunox kept stopping to mark, something he doesn’t do unless that’s the case. We were working most of the time in tall thick grasses, where often Kunox would totally disappear. More that once he stopped and asked me for a lift when it became impassable. As the crow flies, the track was 990 yards. The track ended at a property line we couldn’t enter.

  18. Just had the bow out for one last time. Got the hunting closed washed yesterday and they are outside for the next couple of days. Just need to get a couple things organized between the small pack I’ll use for a coupe ladder stands I’ve got and some stuff I’ll need for my climber. Looking forward to getting out this weekend. Who’s ready for opening day?? Anybody 100% ready??

  27. Who the heck is reporting the inches of all the bucks killed in these areas? Heck most killing big bucks, especially in the SE are mums the word. Not sure how reliable this is. In fact, since the average 3yr is less that 140 in steuben co/southern tier, its clearly inaccurate.

  32. Please add music. I believe @The_Real_TCIII loves music added to his hunting videos. I would think these days you should be able to get a pretty decent handheld cam without breaking the bank. A friend of mine used to film some of his hunts. Keeping it steady was the hardest part. He got an arm to connect the camera to so you didn't get nauseous watching the videos and he could self film. 34. No I was using the Steuben county/IA standard. Hence the lower age guesses. They would all be 7 year olds here.

  41. Some practice pics from the other night.. And as a bonus my daughter (whom never ever wanted to hunt before) asks if her bow is strong enough to kill a deer.. Guess the back off no pressure technique is starting to work! My son will probably never hunt so i really hope she gains some interest in it. I'm sure she will, she is a daddy's girl! Looks like momma is getting a new bow next year and shes getting mommas bow !
