  2. It was Culver. No idea if he will post the story. Like GMan i just enjoy when someone kills a good one at my place. I happened to have history with this buck and got the cell cam live pic minutes before the kill. I knew Bob was going to kill him before i even texted bob last night.

  3. Luna was tired after today’s swamp track. She hasn’t swam that much in a long time.

  4. I’m exhausted but what a day of hunting without actually shooting anything. Took a rookie bowhunter hunting in the morning and he made a great shot on a poor man’s spike. Then as soon as I finished taking care of his deer I get a text from a buddy that he hit a good buck. Helped him track and luckily he didn’t go far. It was a nice broken off 8 point. Got him all cut up and in coolers now I’m relaxing. No PM hunt tonight, back at it in the morning.

  5. 11/5/22 I was contacted last night by a guy who’s girlfriend had shot her first deer and it was a gutshot. He knew exactly what to do…..back out so you don’t push it. I let Luna take this morning’s track since she didn’t get to chew on a deer yesterday. It was 62 degrees when I left the house at 6:45 this morning. I can’t remember ever wearing a short sleeve shirt while tracking in November before. I expected this would be a slam dunk track, but it was not. The buck was all over the place which makes me think coyotes had been after it. We ended up in a swamp with Luna swimming down a beaver run as I was in mid thigh deep water following her. We didn’t see any fresh sign, so we went back about 300 yards to last blood for a restart. She brought us back the same way, but at one point she clearly was air scenting, but then continued with her nose to the ground. I told the boyfriend to mark our location on OnX because we may be coming back to look around, which did happen a little while later. We searched the thick swamp grass area while the hunter kept Luna there since she hadn’t shown any interest in going in there. We didn’t find the buck or any sign. We went for another restart and this time when we got to that area Luna began air scenting again and started pulling on the leash and pulled me into the swamp grass. She showed me a bloody bed not too far away which I examined and then called the hunting party over. I stood up and 5’ away I saw the buck laying there dead. It was very windy this morning and it was swirling in the swamp, which was definitely a factor. So happy for this young hunter. Nice 6 point for her first ever deer.

  6. I have learned to do stuff myself since buying this house. I have changed a few light fixtures, cut a tree down out back and I painted my house by myself. I replaced an exterior wall on my shed and I thought that was a big deal. I wanted to add a second set of steps to my little porch for a couple reasons. I couldn't get anyone to do it so I did it myself with the help from a brother in North Carolina and YouTube. I thought I could buy the stringers and just get the job done in a couple days, They didn't have them and they are not easy to make. I did mess up and my last step turned out to be higher than it should have been so I had to build a box. It's amazing that I build something like this!

  7. Warm or not he’s making the rounds he’s the little cro magnon buck from last year. Turned into light patch on snout so now cro magnon lite But he gets pass til next year. Pretty sure he knows I’m here and is getting more comfortable walking by. He circled me and pushed a doe past. Fun to watch him chase and grunt he was loud this morning.

  8. Out in 8j, south wind at this point in the year means all the stands I have for rut activity are no good. We setup the pop up in a corner just to try something different. Also it was supposed to rain and be windy but the rain missed and it's calmer than I thought. Like someone else said I would have stayed in bed if it weren't for my kid being so excited for xbow. We have seen so far this morning: A trash panda Four doe A frog that literally hopped by the blind Giant hawk in the tree in front of us Trophy Tom

  9. Very frustrating only hunting does during the rut…. Only bucks seen today… this decent 8 and spike. Had them both dead to rights if I wanted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. I been watching a lot of TikTok while on stand and their brainwashing has me believing it’s due to wearing masks and the the early booster batches…ha. In reality he probably got kicked in the face last year by a dry socket sniffing where he shouldn’t have been

  14. My two daughters are coming in Thursday night. I bought Teddi's license and a muzzleloader stamp. Just so she could hunt Friday and Saturday. That crossbow is dead on. We will sit in the same spot she got her first deer 2 years ago. She earned another 3 day pass for being Cadet of the week!

  18. The final decision here is bailing. Got rest of the week off except for W. All I need is to shoot one in 70 degree temps and it doesn't go right down. Rain coming in and hopefully bigger bucks on the move tomorrow. Going to keep my stink out of the woods today for what looks like a great day tomorrow.

  19. I mostly agree but... Comparing how much work we do when it's hot out vs cool is not what happens in nature. Nature has a time clock, the does NEED to be bred in a short window in order to ensure good fawn survival in the spring. Deer cannot simply wait until it's cool enough for their comfort level. Bucks do not know what "waiting" is this time of year, they know one thing. I had bucks cruising at 3PM today, alone, at what was likely the warmest part of the day. I'm sure it does slow some does down more than it does bucks. I've seen as many bucks cruising mid day at 65-70° than at 40° this time of year. I think it matters more to the hunter than the deer. 20. Get better soon. We can't have 2 buck Larry out of the lineup in the playoffs (rut).

  21. TheHornHunter, that's quite a transformation! I had a guy call me today about a deer he shot that was in need of some repair work. It was a really cool triple beamed buck but was missing his left side at the base. Between that and a new cape, I warned him that it was probably more of an undertaking that he wanted to get himself into. Crappy deal, it was a really cool looking deer.

  22. One of my top targets from last year either got shot in his rear leg or hit by a car and his entire rack shrank with one side now looking like a trident. He’s still covering ground and hitting scrapes but looks awkward as hell moving around. Such tough creatures Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. No argument needed. This says just what I said. The show will go on regardless. Heat will effect some movement just as everything else that could in the Whitetail’s world.

  24. Feels like spring turkey season but not as cold at sunrise. Can't kill them from the couch during bow though. Over grown pasture at 2 o'clock, natural hardwood funnel to my left, thick brushy hole out front, and open hardwoods downwind at 4 oclock up the hill. This is always a mid morning activity spot. 7 bald heads so far. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

  27. So I got to my spot, rarely hunt this place, has old abandoned cabin. Obvious sign someone’s been in there foot prints and stuff. Tire tracks. So I sit in my stand and wait, here 10 mins later a topless female around 30 comes walking down the hill to 20 yards. I tell “can I help you”. She hits the ground hands up. long story short, property owners brother said she could stay there (she’s homeless) property owner is pissed at her brother and her, told her to get her shit out by tomorrow or she will be arrested. Fun times.

  33. I hunted the first hour yesterday (at home) and the last two over at my parents place. I did not see anything, not even a squirrel, at either spot. I am up in my two story blind at home, for the first two hours today, and I’ll likely hit a big ladder stand, at the front corner of my woods, for the last (5) hours. It’s about 65 degrees now, with a 5-10 mph south wind, cloudy but no more rain in the forecast for the rest of the day, here on the nw corner of wmu 9F. Hopefully, a “cruiser”, with (3) or more points on a side or a mature doe, will offer up a shot. At this point, I’d be happy to just see a deer.

  34. I really have no motivation for this morning. If it wasn’t for my daughter being able to hunt I think I’d go back to bed. But My daughter and I are getting ready. Raining now but that’s suppose to end between 6-7. Worst case is we will sit in one of the ground blinds but I’d really prefer if we could go sit in a natural blind I worked on that’s in a heavy traffic area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  35. It 70 degrees out at 5 am...... On Nov 6th........ In NY...... WTF......

  36. Exactly. It’s all about the amount and time of daylight in their eyes. A poor hunter will base their rut judgements on the youngest of the species and that’s the poorest measuring stick. That show will go on but the mature breeders in the herds tell the true story.

  38. There’s a lot of this going around this year. Bucks don’t care, does warm temp bother you in the summer, etc etc. Can you get a buck on a doe in this heat? Of course. But heat absolutely DOES affect their daytime rutting activity. How much hard work do you do on the hot days in august or do you wait for cool fall weather or evening? Bucks will still rut, but they’ll wait till night. That’s the problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  39. I'm at my local ... and this was on the door . Alot of people villainize unions as liberal... but I find my local to be conservative on alot of things. I dont always agree with the stance taken and I'm not afraid to voice my opinion. This actually gives me faith that not all is lost.
