  3. I went hunting for a package of venison loin in my chest freezer earlier today and I bagged one! It was trying to hide beneath a bag of burger but I was not fooled. I might go out once for bunnies locally. I used to love hunting for them and partridge. At 68 jumping up and down on brushpiles is tough. I count it as a successful outing if I get a shot at one. They sure are tasty.

  4. Thin sliced venison steaks dredged in flour, and Parmesan bread crumbs with perogis. The steaks were beyond words

  5. Still going strong for me, the Gray squirrels are low in numbers so they are getting substituted with Reds, takes about three Reds to equal one Gray. Put up several Patridges as the old timers call them, they were gone in a flash and I did not even pull the trigger. Been sneaking around in the alders and Balsams trying to pot a Hare but no luck as of yet. Now with this "Chaga" mushroom saga I wrote about about I will be taking a few walks looking for it and combining in some small game hunting so long as the snow stays fairly light. Had a nice Red Fox come in to a woodpecker call but he got a pass. Nothing like being in the woods hunting. Al

  7. Beetles are alot of work to keep around if your thinking about getting some.. i have a good amount of skulls that have been done by beetles and the results have been good.. better than boiling thats for sure... my prefered method now is maceration.. longer process but the results have been excellent and theres very little actual hand work to be done

  9. Interesting article on how you can literally catch a bobcat in the same tracks it made previously.

  10. Miss doing the late season at Otis or Rocky point. My gang usually goes out a few times but not this year. I'm brining down a cooler of venison next weekend maybe that is why! lol

  11. With it finally sunny, I did take my dogs for a walk to the creek to stretch out legs. I worry it's too tough for my little old Westie, whereas the younger, big pup just plows through. The little girl stays behind me hopping from one boot tract to the next. lol In the morning I plan to take a long hike up the hill with the .22 to do a little squirrel hunting, which is something I have not done in many, many years.

  16. Beef (venison) and broccoli, Szechuan style. Better than any Chinese restaurant you’ll find. Serve over white rice, and enjoy

  18. I use to get lease's to cut fire wood on state, some fairly remote places, and many many times after an extended session with the chainsaw I'd shut it off, look around and sure enough there would be deer staring at me. Sometimes pretty close. Robby
