  1. Going out tomorrow. Have a bunch of bucks on cams that dropped but the set I’m looking for he’s still holding as of 2 days ago. Also a smaller one with some potential still holding as well

  3. Bravo !! GC , with all due respect , this is the real reason your 2 nd amend. Rights are potentially being threatened . We’re it not for mass shootings becoming prevalent in American society over the past 30 yrs , no one would be even talking about it as a serious policy corrective measure . Reason behind this ? The cultural and moral decay we’re experiencing as a country , that which is actively perpetuated by your Democrat party , I’m afraid .

  4. With it so cold yesterday; it seemed a good day to stay in, thaw venison, and make jerky this weekend. So, today I cut up the thawed venison, boned out a 22 pound turkey, and as the wife canned the turkey, and several pounds of beef, I made my marinade. I have two batches of venison soaking now, about 12 pounds raw. She also made a couple loaves of cranberry bread, and a really good new bread we came up with using our canned sweet potatoes. I'll start drying the venison this evening.

  6. Based on the specs of 8.6 lbs., 3.5" chamber, and camo finish, I think that it was designed for waterfowl hunting. It looks like they are trying to appeal to waterfowl hunters who like a break open shotgun but want the 3 shots available without reloading. I personally don't think it is going to catch on and will be discontinued in the future.

  7. Had something hit the bait piles last weekend after the storms, so although I was tired, I went out to see what might show up. Had one come in downwind and spotted it through the branches trying to sneak away through a flooded field. Took the shot and it ran a little before disappearing into the tall grass. Didn't see anything moving afterwards but deer, so I went home. 1/28 Dog

  11. I never said - or implied- that it was. I do understand your point, though that Babbitt made a conscious choice to break the law and go into the capitol building, whereas Floyd did not. Having said that, I think that it is also fair to say that by all other metrics, Babbitt was the superior citizen and a far better person than Floyd , who was, absolutely and unequivocally, a worthless piece of s#@%. Of course, that doesnt give law enforcement the right to summarily execute him for his repeated immorality, either, so Im in agreement with you there.

  12. I'm at 6 sheds and two deadhead bucks. Picked up one side off a buck that I was looking for friday afternoon. Turns out it was last year's antler from him but was in perfect shape other than some bleaching which is incredible in itself. Ended up taping 68.5" making it my second biggest typical shed to date. I'm hoping to find his new antlers in the upcoming weeks.

  13. Started off the new year hunting a new farm that's having some issues with coyote. They lease their land to deer hunters, so we didn't get access till deer season ended and then we went to work. The land borders the farm that I dropped the single coyote on 12/31. The bright night started off slow with nothing answering our coyote calls or coming into the distress calls. We didn't see a thing moving at all, so at midnight I decided to give my back a break and got up to glass the fields behind our stand. I was going to suggest that we move to another stand location when my buddy whispers that there's two dogs coming in from our right side. I get back to my rifle and hit record. The wind picked up and started to swirl, so when they started to get antsy, we put the hammer down. The 20 practical shooting the 40 grn Vmax does it's job. 52lb male and 35lb female. My Halo was in the shop, so I was using my 20 cal backup rig with the AGM Adder scope. It's always good to have a backup rig ready to go. Just got my Halo back from repairs and will need to sight it in on the .243 and get to work. SJC 1/8/23 Double

  14. Thanks. I dropped dogs from 20 to 280 yards this fall. I try to call them in as close as I can, but this scope and an accurate .243 rifle makes taking longer range shots easy. SJC

  15. He wasn’t as heavy as he felt dragging. I found a 50 lb fish scale in my boat and he was 40 pounds even, minus the tail after dehydrating for a day. Might have been 44 on the paw.

  17. Shot this “leader of the pack” at 8:30 or so this morning. Looks to be maybe 62 pounds. Dropped on the spot at 40 yards from the shoulder hit, but took at least 10 minutes to die, after I stood on its lungs while holding its head down. dropped easy but died hard.
