Game wardens Black Dwinal and Toby Tyler with Forest Rangers Jeb Garfield and Alex Stowell wrestle an elk onto the meat pole in the Adirondack Preserve. The elk was 550 pounds with an 11 point rack. Elk went extinct in the Adirondacks in 1847, though a number of unsuccessful reintroduction programs took place in the first half of the 1900s. Circa 1946.
