  1. I got out for a couple hours this afternoon at a dairy. Birds were hungry. Killed 38 pigeons and 12 crows over a feed bunker. Solo shoot. If my nephew was with me it would have been awesome. We killed about 300 pigeons and 100 crows this winter. We weren’t able to get out too much. Im hoping our sumner pigeon shoots over decoys is better than last year. Last year the wheat was not in the good shooting areas so we did not do well at all. No big 200 plus bird mornings.

  3. The full moon coyote killers were out in force Sunday PM. The night started out crappy as I was delayed an hour sitting in traffic from a bad accident on the Thruway. Then going out to the first stand my partner slipped on some mud, dropped his rifle and broke one of the shoulder straps on his back pack. After setting up, we had two dog's come into a field 180 yards away, but my buddy couldn't see the second dog, so we missed an opportunity at a double. One dog is better than none. After that stand, he noticed his scopes eyepiece cover was missing, so we spent the next half hour looking for it. Joy of Joy's. When we got to our second stand location, we heard a female coyote going to town very close by. I snuck up to the top of the hill and my partner stayed low. I called and she came right down the tractor trail on a string 150 yards away. I dropped it and after checking it out, I noticed that it was a stanky dog with a badly mangled rear leg. The last two dogs I've dropped had some type of disfigurement. Two dogs down before midnight and two happy farmers. Not bad for a full moon hunt. SJC

  7. AR15 Performance barreled rifle in 6.8 SPC II. MEGA upper with a Spikes Tactical lower. The barrel is 16" and I run 110gr Sierra Pro Hunters down it. It has a Bushnell 3-10x40 Elite 3200 scope mounted in a Burris P.E.P.R mount. I have 10 round magazines that I have used a dowel to block off so that it can only hold five rounds. I don't want to be out of compliance with the New York State DEC (lol). Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk

  11. Thanks, I did end up denting a couple of shoulders. I sprayed the cases lightly with the one shot and after they seemed to be giving way to much resistance I sprayed them some more and while they worked in easier a couple did dent. This is a big learning process but I am enjoying it.

  12. The fire dept arrives at a pub fully engulfed in flames, donning their equipment they enter the front door and see Sean Murphy sitting at the bar with a pint in his hand. They quickly drag him outside to safety where they inquire how the fire got started. “Damn if I know” says Sean. “The place was on fire when I walked in”.

  13. Was it once fired commercial 30-06 brass or military brass ? Make sure you have the de capping rod recessed into the die before using it. Also get some Hornady one shot case lube and spray your cases liberally. Under lubing is a major cause of stress and failure during the reloading process. Hand priming is ok for small pistol, but for large rifle and magnum loads, you need to seat the primer with authority and a mounted press system is best suited for that. Good luck and shoot safe. SJC

  14. It may not have been the die that caused the problem, it could have been a flash hole in a case that was a little off center causing the decapping pin to miss the flash hole and hit the brass mucking things up. Broken decapping pins happen and it is a good idea to have some spares, they are cheap. Al

  16. I fly fished all winter for Ontario run steelhead and browns. Fished until the end of December for fingerlakes bows. Some of the stocked creeks near me are open year round. April first means crowded fishing will start. I never missed an opening day since I was 8 or 9 years old until sometime in my 30s. Now I work "opening day" and take my time off in the fall.

  18. Well, as for wearing them on the back, it's only in the SZ, and if you read the changes it states we have the option of showing license verification electronically. So maybe wearing them on the back in the SZ is now going to be optional? I'd call and ask but the past few years calling or emailing the DEC is like waiting for a turtle to get to the top of a mountain while it's going through super glue. If the turtle even shows up.

  21. Those have a snap strap on the back, I also have a few with double straps. My hunting packs all have MOLLE webbing so I just weave them on, I also use a bottle bag set up with MOLLE webbing instead of a pack sometimes. If you don't have any MOLLE or straps on your hunting pack you can always sew a piece of nylon on. Just make sure you measure your tubes or w/e to be sure they fit in the pouch. Anything with MOLLE webbing is great for hunting as it allows a lot of versatility in adding and removing stuff. Last year for Spring turkey hunting this was my set up for the entire season: That rig carried extra ammo, my thermos and a cup, calls, TP, spare knife, and some snacks. Lighter and easier then a backpack.

  22. Miserable stuff. I see a picture and I start to scratch. '92 Baton Rouge, LA. I was shooting 3d in the back yard. Couple arrows went under the neighbors fence. Jumped the fence and came back. Ended up having to get a benadryl shot and 5 days of prednisone. '97 I set up an early season hang-on in PA on public. There was a sumac vine on the othe other side I didn't notice. Sweating like crazy when I got it up, I took my t-shirt off and spread it around. My eye's swelled shut and it's no fun having it on your manhood. 48hrs in the hospital. Went back two weeks later and someone had stolen my setup. Poor b@st@rd. I fear nothing in the woods but that stuff. It's evil.

  24. Lancer makes a 5 round limiter flor plate for their 10 round L5AWM mags. It helps assure the follower and spring stay correct. Magpul makes one as well and those come in a three pack. I'm considering a 350 Legend upper for next year.

  36. When I use the ML'r it will be the NULA 50cal smokeless, Leupold VariXIII 2.5x8 & 275gr Parker BE combo. No decision yet with CF rifle, haven't thought much about it. Maybe a Remington 700 260Rem or NULA 7mm-08, Tract Toric 2-10x42 with 120gr Barnes TTSX or the .243 NULA
