Bow season in Southern zone is always 10/1. Regular season always opens 3rd sat in November. Late season bow/muzzleloader season starts the day after regular season closes and runs for 9 days. Holiday hunt runs 12/26 - 1/1.   This is for southern zone. Not sure about northern zone as I haven’t hunted there in over 15 years.

Just thought it was weird I can’t find the usually maps and stuff posted online

I once saw something similar at an old feed store.  You would hang a feed sack of known weight on one side by the hook and load an empty sack with the same feed on the other side until it balanced.  That way each sack would hold the same amount of feed after being loaded.

Yea but man this thing is heavy duty .

seems way overkill for a 100 pound bag of feed ,,,

It sure is heavy duty and made for something with substantial weight, looks like a giant version of a skinning gambrel. The needle in the middle looks to be there to help making sure the weight is evenly distributed on both sides.

I’m thinking it’s a balance beam maybe used in a foundry or something

So now you think someone that hunts for the top of the class does not get meat?  Do you think by someone not filling their buck tags on smaller whitetail bucks does not have a half dozen other tags they can use on any givin day to fill their freezer?  Filling tags is not a real tough problem.

Hummm I see people on here all the time saying “ tag soup again “ and saying they never saw a deer all season..

So “ filling tags “ for some is a tough problem

    It's ALL just hunting!

From the hunter who just wants to put any deer in their freezer. To one that passes multiple bucks, looking for "the one" or anything in between. We are all individuals. With different asperations and goals. Different priorities, and amounts of time, that can be given to hunting. One should never feel superior, or lesser, because of what they choose to hunt!! And one should NEVER as a sportsman, put themselves above, anyone else because of how they choose to hunt!! It's as simple as that. It does not have to be a big argument. Or a condemnation of others, because they hunt a different way, or hold a different view.

I stayed out of the thread that was closed. I don't want to start pointing fingers here either. But it was closed because of one person. The detriment of that thread was not the thread itself. But someone with a bigger opinion of themself than the opinion of those participating in that thread.

I didn’t even see the thread but I know who u are talking about

I agree with airedale, these kinds of argumentative threads should be taken off into private messaging, just to maintain a little peace in the forum. Let's not get sucked into another one of those thread-fights. The two of you can battle it out privately.

And it’s always the same ones starting trouble

Brianna’s Law, named after Brianna Lieneck, an 11-year-old girl who tragically lost her life in a boating accident in 2005, is a significant piece of legislation in New York State. Let me break it down for you:

    1. Purpose: Brianna’s Law aims to enhance boater safety by requiring education and certification for powerboat operators.

    2. Boater Safety Course Requirement:

      • Technically, no license is required to operate a boat for recreational purposes in New York State.
      • However, all power boaters, including those operating sailing vessels with auxiliary power, must complete a boater safety course.

Yup takes hours to do online , I did it yesterday . Scored 98

Its a series of different like 50 page study pages for like 6 or 7 different category's

Then a 10 question test at the end of every section

    • Persons may rent and operate a motorboat from a livery without first obtaining a boating safety certificate. Staff at the livery must provide basic instruction and safety information before you depart the dock.

Yup that’s what I said in my post , doesnt make sense

No , he wrote it in 2018 for Clint Eastwood and the movie The Mule

Believe what you want to believe and who to believe . Sure , if 20 trucks come in , and 19 of them have an 8 speed , and  1 is a 6 speed , I guess you can say that they have replaced both .

I called my guy at Transmedic this morning and even he said that 85 percent of the ones he is replacing are the 8 speed transmissions in Chevy 1500's . The other 15 percent are 6 speed that either had normal wear and  that reached over 165,000 miles or newer ones with less miles that were abused . Once in a great while one would come in with under 100,000 miles that was no good for some mystery reason unknown . But he said thats a freak incident. Certainly nothing even remotely close to average 70K miles. There is always a lemon out there in the millions of Chevy trucks sold. That doesn't mean the lemon is the norm.   Every article I read points to the 8 speed is by leaps and bounds the problem baby. So far I haven't seen much about the 10 speed good or bad. But I guess no news is better that bad news

That’s fine , I believe the three largest tranny experts near me , I also know several who own the same truck as me and have had the TC convertor failure .

Pretty sure the guys that are in the business may know just a little more than the internet guy :)

And if your Transmedic isn’t telling you the real issue with the TCs or perhaps he doesn’t even know … I suggest he educates himself because it’s a well know issue with the springs breaking and running metal thru the tranny pump and valve body ..

Let’s face it , they are both garbage TCs , replace now or gamble ..

Give a call to any or all of the three I listed ..

    They have done thousands , avg 4 a week ! Both 6 and 8

So yup , these are the guys I’m gonna believe , none have any reason to lie and the one shop is a personal friend of mine I’ve know 30 yrs !

What’s the name of your friends shop ?

    Have a great day

Your friend is telling you a 1/2 truth .  There isn't problems with all the 1500 transmissions . In 2016 Chevy changed over some of the transmissions in the higher end 1500 like the LTZ and the High Country models from a 6 speed to an 8 speed transmission . The 8 speed is the one thats having issues . not the 6 speed . In 2017 -2019 they put the 8 speed in all the higher end 1500's . I think now they are all 10 speed transmissions.  I have a 2016 LT1  Dual Cab  6 speed with 52,000 miles and no issues.

" What is the 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 transmission lawsuit?

The class action lawsuit claims the its 8L45E and 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmissions in thirteen different GM vehicle models produced between 2015 and March 1st, 2019 are defective.Mar 23, 2023 "

I had a 2005 Chevy 1500 Z71 that I bought new . I had to replace the tranny in 2017 with 173,000 miles on it . There is a tranny place here that is top notch called TRANSMEDIC . They replaced my tranny with a rebuilt for $2100 and it was good as new. I used that truck as my work and hunting truck. Didn't want to scratch up my newer truck on the logging roads in Maine LOL . I sold that truck in 2022 for $2500 with 231,000 miles on it A friend of mine just had his tranny replaced on his 2018 Chevy 1500 LTZ . It had 145,000 miles on it . Same place TRANSMEDIC for $2650 .  Your buddy doesn't have a AAMCO shop does he ?  They are  Ripoff artists !  I dealt with them on my sons car when he was in college . The car had 140K on it .They quoted him $5,600 to rebuild the tranny on a 2001 Toyota Rav back in 2009 . I told them they were nuts ! I had the car towed to my guy for $250 . They rebuilt it for $2000 like brand new . So good that the car was past down to my daughter next , and then my youngest son who finally crashed it with 237,000 on it . Of all places , some $80,000 BMW crashed into him in a MacDonalds  parking lot  in the winter when he was sitting in the Drive-Thru line  LOL

No it’s both , and it’s the springs in the TC , I’ve talked to three different shops , all said the same

    Terrys

    Speedy

    Bracys

im also on several gm forums and it’s both the 8 and 6 speeds

All kinds of miles but most seem around 70k

I did the thermostat delete a couple years ago..but that doesn’t help the springs breaking ,

the new replacement TCs don’t have springs .

they now find they are not needed

    im at 41k

  13. So I have a 2017 with 41k miles , my tranny seems to be having issues when going into lockup .

I have a friend that owns a tranny shop and is very good.

I talked to him and told

him my issue .. he said “if it wasn’t for. Heavy we would be out of business”

He said they see three to four a week.

Issue is the torque converter springs are weak and let lose and chew up the tranny and send metal through the whole thing .

He said they wave seen them from 24k miles on up to 100k or more .

He said if we catch it before it’s a replacement TC , the new ones don’t have the springs because they are not needed .. cost 1500

If it blows then it’s like 5 k rebuild ..

Have any of you that own one seen issues ?

Thanks. I tend to add in safety factors on things like that.

I remember when they used to have winter carnivals on the ice at Honeoye Lake (one of the Finger Lakes). Huge crowds gathered out on the lake with motorcycles. I don't know how thick the ice was then, but it was holding up an unbelievable amount of weight. They did discontinue it after just a couple of years. Thinking back on it, it does sound like a rather foolish kind of event.

I remember seeing part of Skaneateles frozen from the south end heading north ,and seeing people go to the edge of it and fish the open water
