  1. All are welcome, even those tree sleeping videos...could classify as a swing n miss!
  2. Do you film your own hunts? Would you like to see your mug on tv? If so, please check out our page at www.rushoutdoors.com and click on the Uncut logo. We have a member driven portion of our show that airs Uncut member footage. The website contains all the information, so please check it out!
  3. I use the middle or proximal joint as well. Then just a smooth straight backward movement (similar to a back tension) for the shot. Improved my accuracy tremendously.
  4. Remember it's a course on bowhunter education, not a shooting course. They are under the impression you will put in the required time to become an accurate bowhunter capable ethically taking wild game. All they can do is score you on your knowledge of it.
  5. Anyone interested for $500 loaded or $350 bare bow?
  6. 2015 Obsession Sniper GT, 50-60 lb limbs, set at 29" draw. Brand new custom strings, new Apex Gear Covert adjustable sight, new QAD HDX Ultrarest, Trophy Ridge 9" stabilizer, and peep sight. Bow is all black with black and gold strings. This is a sweet bow, smooth draw, fast, and quiet. Asking $525 loaded, $375 bare bow, or can add remove rest/sights and negotiate price. Added a third bow so need to unload one. I may be willing to move a little on price...cash preferred and no trades please.
  7. PSE Evolve 35, do yourself a favor and give one a whirl.
  8. I tried the Hornady American whitetail loads last year and really impressed. Grouped well out 200 yards and knocked both deer I shot with them flat in their A$$. One was about 10 yards and the other was just over 100. For the price you can't beat them.
  9. Awesome deer. Both are beautiful bucks, it will be tough to surpass this day memory wise.
  10. Arrow might be stuck in opposite leg so that could be inhibiting the blood from coming out. If it's a lung hit, he'll be bleeding from mouth as well, so there might not be a huge blood trail to follow. I think he'll be piled up within a couple hundred yards from where you shot him. Good luck and hope we see recovery photos soon.
  11. ScentLok clothing, kept in their tote. Spray down before hunt and head out. Killed 2 deer this year directly down wind and had several others down wind that didn't spook.
  12. Nice diagram, I'm glad you showed an exaggerated stand height cause that is what is required for any major yardage difference. Like you stated, bring it down to 15-20' like a normal person and the difference is minimal and not worth losing sleep over. My only question is, why didn't you use trig for the calculation? Hahaha...[emoji38]
  13. It's most likely not a back strap shot on that deer. No blood from mouth or nose is apparent so most likely not a lung hit. Could have been quartering to the guy and went through liver, pancreas, guts.
  14. There is an area just above the lungs people refer to as "no mans land", this image doesn't show that. I would find it hard to believe there could be bubbles in a non lung hit. But like mentioned earlier, the blood you show looks awful dark for lung blood and looks like it was coming out both sides of the deer from your picture. Not being there and witnessing it in person, it's just my opinion though. One way or the other I hope you find him or get another crack at him.
  15. I hope you found the buck, but since I haven't seen a picture I'll say you haven't yet. Anyway, my two cents on the scenario. If you hit high in the back strap, there is no way you caught lung and that deer is fine. If you hit one lung, the deer will survive as long as the lung doesn't collapse. Since you said you hit him high, odds are its merely a flesh wound and will survive. Keep in mind when tracking a deer that is potentially lung shot that the blood isn't coming from the cavity, it's coming from the mouth and nose. So initially there could be blood and then it could be lost as it starts clotting. Which means one of 2 things: One, the lung isn't fatally harmed, deer survives, and hopefully you get another crack at him. Or two, his lung collapses and he dies within several days of the shot. Let's hope for the first option. I've attached an image that depicts a deers vitals clearly showing the location of back strap and lungs. Good luck either way and hope this helps.
  16. Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to give the white hots a shot since I already purchased them. I never anticipated on shooting 3 pellets but was curious to see if anyone has. I'm switching from a .45 cal to .50 and haven't really used my muzzleloader since I moved to the southern tier and bought my Savage 220 slug gun. Just for clarification and to avoid speculation, I don't use my slug gun during the bow/muzzleloader season. Anyhow, I've never been a huge muzzleloader guy. Always shot a CVA .45 and have used various components throughout the years. Mainly had it for when I lived up north so I could take advantage of the early ML season there. Now to determine the projectile...
  17. Does anyone use the IMR white hot pellets in their .50 cal? I have a new CVA Accura MR with the Bergara barrel and bought the white hot pellets for it. The guy at the gun counter suggested I don't use 150 grains cause they burn hotter and it could potentially cause harm to myself or the gun. However, in the CVA owners manual they recommend the white hots and say the gun is fully capable of handling the magnum charge. Just curious if anyone uses these pellets, has this gun, and if they have any issues or recommendations for it.
  18. Beautiful morning here in 7F. Had a deer greet me at my stand at 5:30...nothing since legal light, but it's still early! Good luck everyone.
