  1. Great buck ! Bet you will buy the code blue again next year huh ? Put his head on the wall, no questions asked !
  2. Never really leave the good ole 9'er. Live and hunt in 9h, have a camp in 9m and lots of honey holes in 9f. Lots of state land in the southertier worthy of hunting too.
  3. So what's the update here ? Any more sightings ? U move that stand ?
  4. I giggled quite a bit during that video.... Don't really know why ! IMHO get a climber, use your harness and take your time. I'm sure it would prove to be q better investment than that fancy not so quick speed ladder thingy...
  5. Welcome home ! Thank u for your service ! Now go stick a booner !
  6. Great buck ! Good to see the big boys hittin the deck !

    Deer Search

My dad hit one high in the shoulder late muzzle last year, left him overnight that tracked him for miles, yes miles. Called big game recovery and they brought the dogs. We had got 8" of fresh snow but the dog still get on blood no prob. We knew we would have to shoot him again but signs looked good, till we got politely asked to get the bleep* off someone's unposted property. We had no choice but to give up.regardless, It was amazing on how easy the dog did his job and how friendly the tracker was. Great guys doing great things, if u can, use them cause it can make the difference !
  8. Awesome buck, Def a shooter ! Glad the recovery was a success ! And with 400 some yards of good blood I too am curious if you hit more than just gut, any idea after you opened him up ? P.s. I think It's quite a buzz kill to find him after all that, then have to open up a 12hr gut shot....I'd puke in my mouth a little
  9. Culver, to answer your original question, I have shot 3 with the 2 blade rages, one, the arrow broke 2 ribs and was laying on the ground right where I shot her, the other two were buried in the dirt.... so I have had 100% passthroughs. I was shooting a Mathews ultramax ( 325 fps ) goldtip 55/75's and 100 gr rage. No complaints yet !
  10. It'll be a happy birthday when I connect with a biggun ! Just got settled 20 ft up my favorite hemlock..... Let's see what unfolds
  11. Great morning to be in the stand. Saw a doe getting chased out of her bed... But nothing followed. Hoping to score my first birthday buck ever... Been hunting for 15 bow seasons and have never got a deer on my birthday, maybe 30 is the magical year. Told the girlfriend to wish me luck on a big buck, not a happy birthday ! G'luck all. Off to score some birthday dmp's !
  12. I thought wny just had that string put on to be festive for Halloween ?
  13. My goodness ! What a pig ! Hope u have an atv to drag him out !? Nice job.
  14. Ahhh, hunting..... Just be thankful your able to hunt and you have 20 acres to yourself ! I don't have advice besides what has been mentioned, wind, over hunting and stand placement but I can tell you when that magical time comes, you can be anywhere and you will see deer ! I swear they chase through Wal-Mart at peak rut ! Good luck !
  15. Thanks for the info ! I'll take 2 9f's please !
  16. Wny, where r u located ? And good luck !
  17. Early chase here in 9h, the doe seem like they may be getting hot soon ( leaving the fawns more and acting goofy ) We had some snow yesterday but I didn't get to hunt today. I'm sure there was a lot going on. Tomorrow I will be out Sun up to Sun down and should have a better grasp on the activity
  18. Also have one I named and I have only spotted him at first light and dusk, all i can see is bones and lots of them.... I call him the vampire cause apparently he only comes out at night
  19. Dinner Bubba Bucky Bruiser Biggun Crabby By 5 Swamp cow Strappers a few of those I have named, and have on camera. My new fav is " the ugly buckling ". He came in 2 nights ago, basket rack, prob 2.5, had 4 points with perfect form on left side and right side grew straight out past his nose. Almost shot him cause he was so ugly, but kinda cool looking. Had points going up and down..... First name that came to mind was ugly buckling. Should I shoot him ?
  20. Got a doe a few weeks back on a nuisance permit.... Didn't feel right being it was 2 weeks before season, but it was all legal. I don't understand how guys can so that but i hope they are caught and prosecuted ! And as for those that buy mounts and antlers.... Have fun telling the grandkids how ya got that one..... Lame
  21. And since I forgot to mention, that's a sweet rack he's got with both eyeguards split ! It will look sweet on your wall !
  22. I'm beyond a firm believer in proper QDM, trust me that's why I've gone without a buck for the last 3 years. I personally would pass, and It's obvious I'm not alone. Now, with that being said, I too can remember my first buck, scrubby basket 7 pointer, I'll never forget it ! I WISH I could have a buck like that for my first ! It's obvious he's not gonna be easy to get, but with all the good advice ur getting, and with a bunch of effort on your part he will be yours. From the time that arrow flys to the time you grab that rack for the first time you will know why we all do this ! I wish you luck, and encourage you to put in some treestand time. He is young, so take advantage of that. You have an idea where he is coming from so try and get yourself half that 1000 yard distance to where he's coming from. I would get yourself a grunt tube and some scrape scent, make a scrape within shootin range and wait. If the wind is right and you see him but he's out of range, hit that grunt tube and he will most likely come see what's up. Don't over call though as he will get wise quick. And if you feel like your doing something wrong, u probably are. I wish you the best, put your time in and ask more questions if you have them, us sportsmen are all here to help ! Stick that sucker !
  23. Wish we all said no to that question. Had one come through a few days ago, shot one week before season, shot one before that on xx/xx/11 and hear them all the time. I would like to kill them all ! Had my jack russell go toe to toe with one once, couldn't believe she held her ground and the yote ended up retreating I was beyond upset all I had was a chainsaw in my hands ! See and hear them all too often. There can never be too few coyote ! I live in Erie county. 9h, Boston hills
  24. Watching some does wishing I would have recovered the one last night. I got summoned to help track a friends deer last night bout 3o min from home. Found a fair amount of blood but from what i could see it looked like a loin shot. She mist have bedded down within 100yrds and in my friends excitement he didn't wait more than 1o min and bumped her. We all know what happens when u bump a wounded deer. After a few hours my friend decided to quit ( after he had walked everywhere and turned over any potential blood on the leaves ) and i was getting annoyed at his tracking skills. God, I felt like he was wearing rakes on his feet. Hate giving up but it wasn't my call. Hoping I can show him how It's done today... G'luck all
