  1. I call them in during spring turkey quite often, and I'm hunting the woods of the Catskills.
  2. I'll be out in the morning. I'll be hunting, but mostly looking for sign and scouting.
  3. You got it with an MT (empty) handgun? Man, that's brave. How big is it?
  4. I'm thinking about putting some time in for bear this week in the Catskills. Anyone else hunting bear in this early season?
  5. I agree about the buck. It appears to be a young deer that had good genetics and had a nice rack in year 1.5.
  6. I often think many deer hunters do not see coyote while deer hunting because they are wearing blaze orange. Coyotes can see that very well and are smart enough to avoid it. No dedicated coyote hunter ever wears blaze orange.
  7. Predate, I like your Remington auto. 12 gauge or 20?
  8. Just proves you'll never learn Donna.
  9. That's not gonna happen Donna. I'd rather keep shoving a sharp stick up the azz of the people who need it. If you could learn to post replies without arrogant, or rude comments, maybe you would get some respect around here.
  10. This is a problem in every area of law. The laws on the books in all areas are very rarely ever modified or rescinded. I agree they need to be when they become obsolete.
  11. What I can't tolerate is the obnoxious arrogance of pompous, self important prima donna's on this site that need to have something wrapped around their head.
  12. Classifying crows as migratory birds and putting them in the same class as ducks and geese, seems to be a useless game law as well.
  13. I'm at a loss to understand why crow hunting is only allowed on certain days of the week.
  14. I'll never forget that day. I'll also never forget why I'm against appeasing those that attacked us, or making any apologies for this country to anyone who thinks we should. Nobody who died that day had anything to do with foreign grievances. If your country has a beef with the American government, you'd better take that up with them. And if you're not happy with the response, declare war and have at it. Undeclared armies of terrorists that attack civilians, and their supporters, are nothing but murderous cowards and scum, that need to be eliminated with extreme prejudice. Never forget that.
  15. "Cuomo said that while New York has strong gun-registration laws and requires mental-health professionals to report any troubles with gun owners to the state, there isn't a national system to control illegal guns being sold in New York." There isn't?? Does he honestly believe there are no laws on the national level that make selling guns illegally a crime? This man refuses to address the criminals with guns in NYC. These fools won't stop until they have a complete ban on gun ownership for all average citizens. They will make sure select connected citizens have guns and bodyguards though. They want it to be a privilege conferred on people by the government, rather than a Constitutional right. Even if Democrats successfully banned all gun ownership in America, like they want to, the criminals will still have them and crime would actually go up! Ban anything and you create a lucrative black market. Look how well it works with illegal drugs. The desire to ban guns has nothing to do with crime and everything to do with control!
  16. I have to disagree getting older stinks. I much prefer it to the alternative.
  17. The .410 also has very few pellets in it's 3" case when you are using #4 shot, or even #6 shot. To kill turkey with a .410, they have to be close, like 25 yards or less, just to keep pattern density acceptable. Maybe he's using slugs?
  18. The 12 gauge offers a lot more pellets in the shell. Those extra pellets may help to put a couple more in the head and neck when you shoot. That could make all the difference in your success. Some guys still prefer a 10 gauge for turkey for that same reason. If the birds you hunt are usually close, it's not that important. But at longer ranges, pattern density is very important.
  19. #2 said "it doesn't consume me", so I thought Hardcore means it does.
  20. If you volunteer to help your community this Labor Day, I thank you for your service
  21. Happy Labor Day Weekend All! I don't work for free, but when I do it's for Fire/EMS. And who says volunteering can't be a blast? Can't say this is really hard duty.
  22. Being an NRA member gives you certain insurance at no cost to you. You are covered if you injure someone else, or injure yourself. You even have life insurance if you die while participating in an outdoor activity. Annual NRA membership may give you everything you are looking to pay $300 for. Call the NRA for details. Another good reason to join the NRA.
  23. I didn't vote "Hardcore" because it doesn't consume me, and it never has. It's always been my #1 hobby and pastime, but I don't let it wreck other areas of my life like an alcoholic does by drinking to excess constantly. Given the time, I would rather be hunting than fishing, or most other hobbies for that matter. But my family and my grand daughter will always be able to ask for my time and get it without regret. (With the exception of opening days or a week already planned to hunt) I spend lots of my free time thinking about hunting, reading up on it, meeting friends who hunt, preparing gear, scouting, shooting, reloading and working with firearms in many ways, but it's done during my "free" time. Other life issues will always take priority. I don't use hunting as an escape from any of my responsibilities. All that being said, if I were ever to find myself unable to go hunting at all, I would be one very upset man with huge withdrawal symptoms, constantly trying to figure a way to improvise and adapt to satisfy my need for it. I don't think that's addiction as much as a real love for it.
  24. The last thing we should do is allow the party that broke the system, "fix" the system they broke.
