DEC adds another climate meeting

When your goal is to lower carbon emissions at any cost, you just regulate it. Consequences be damned. -
Senate Passes Bill to Allow Moose Hunting in NY

BTW, the only thing I can find regarding NY State and an affiliation or budget amount for SCI is this. You were the one who claimed they budgeted money for Safari Club International. The burden of proof of that claim is on you. http://nysci.org/ -

Ya know Mike, I posted the comment prior to this one with no malice or ill intent. The fact that you read it as if it was some type of insult shows you have too much hate in your thinking to respond civilly and clearly. I did not direct any negativity towards you with that post and actually tried to be quite respectful. I find your reply to be typical of a man with a grudge. So be it. You have exposed yourself for all to see. -
The difference in the weapons becomes very apparent when someone is shooting back at you.

Idiots and morons don't ruin it for everyone. Elected officials trying to keep idiots and morons from hunting themselves ruin it for everyone. How does that saying go? "Remove all of the warning labels and just let natural selection prevail".
-
It's funny, there are a lot of states that do not make fireworks illegal. I guess they don't have as many idiots as the states that outlaw fireworks. Or at least their elected officials don't believe they are idiots. The states that don't outlaw fireworks also seem to do a better job of enforcing the codes in place that allow them.

Interesting article pointing out how the Left seems to want to label this "terrorism" while bending over backward to avoid using it against a certain class of people. http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/us/the-left-finally-embraces-the-term-terrorism -

Well, then I suggest we address that issue when it becomes reality. As of now, the reality is moose hunting in NY may become reality, and I for one am glad that's the case, regardless of how it comes about. I would think a search of the net would get you the answer to why SCI got money from NY. They were probably doing some conservation in NY with it. When SCI auctions tags for something like a Rhino, it is with full cooperation from the government of the country the hunt will happen in. The country uses those funds for conservation and poacher control. The country usually finds SCI to be the best organization for auctioning the tags, since they absorb the cost of the auction and have the ability to get the most money for the tag. Anyone can bid on the tag, even if they are not an SCI member. I'm really confused by your animosity to one of the world's biggest conservation organizations that is also in the forefront of the anti-poaching movement. I sense a great deal of class envy in your posts. -

"Some members just had to point to Isalm even when it has nothing to do with this." Seriously? When anything involving terrorism is discussed, it is impossible not to include the world's #1 practicioner. Islam was pointed out because they practice "terrorism" not mass murder. It has nothing to do with anything else, no matter how much jaundice runs through your thoughts. The DC sniper, who killed a lot of people in the Wash D.C. area a few years back, did it to cover up his hope of killing his ex-wife at some point. By your conclusion, I guess he was a terrorist. -

Mike, I don't see where you address the question of the permits being issued strictly on a lottery basis, like the Elk permits in PA are issued. I do not think SCI members are too involved in the Elk hunts in PA every year. If permits are only available to winners in a lottery, everyone, of any income bracket, has an equal chance of winning. How is that a problem? How does that put SCI members at an advantage? States that decide to do auctions for some permits do it for the money. The huge amounts paid for these permits is a bonus for the state's F&W Dept. That's why they do it. It's not done to favor rich people. -

What would you say is the best path? Seems to me moose hunting in the ADK region would be great hunting opportunity for the hunters who live in that region. It's also a renewable resource that can benefit a lot of people in that area. I hope they do allow it and don't really care who was the influential party that got it done. Even if upper class hunters got it done, if it's allowed on a lottery basis, they don't have any more chance of hunting moose than any average hunter does. BTW, the next time you're in Maine, stop in and say "Hi". -
Wooly, do you LOL at all the POLICE OFFICERS that are getting killed these days since Obama has given the green light to deviants to disregard their orders? If you treat a POLICE OFFICER with the respect they deserve and put them at ease, you have nothing to fear. If you're a lawless idiot that thinks he can resist a POLICE OFFICER and get away with it, this is the story.....
-
Did Scott do any of what I advised in my earlier post wooly? If he had, he'd be alive and the POLICE OFFICER would not be in jail. I say we wait until the trail is over to pass judgement.
-
Maybe if Scott had put his hands up and not grabbed to cops taser trying to use it on him, he wouldn't have gotten shot. The cop broke the law after that happened, but Scott initiated the whole thing.

The FBI says it's not terrorism. http://www.wjla.com/articles/2015/06/fbi-director-charleston-shooting-not-an-act-of-terrorism-114901.html -
HA! That's possible. I find it hard to believe these guys had enough intelligence to successfully break out of a maximum security prison and didn't have a plan for when they were on the outside. Even if the woman who helped them escape was their plan on the outside, it's hard for me to believe they didn't have a Plan B if she bailed on them. They've been running for 2 weeks now and have not had any verifiable interaction with anyone since they broke out. I have to believe they are trying to avoid any interaction with anyone, other than someone helping them. It would be too risky for them to even become a blip on someone's radar right now. I think they're hold up tight somewhere waiting for the heat to die down. Much like the hunt for the cop killer in PA a few months back, this felon hunt is costing NY State taxpayers a fortune.

Not if it's semi-auto. (I think)

Cops arriving on a scene get nervous when they see anyone with a gun, white, black or what have you. But if the person with the gun drops it, puts their hands up and shows no aggression or threatening movement, they are unlikely to shoot. If you shoot someone and call the cops, tell them you have a gun and just shot someone and give them a description of yourself and what you're wearing. It's also wise to put the gun down when the cops arrive, unless the perp is still alive and you are holding him at gunpoint, which is something else you need to tell the cops over the phone. The more info they have prior to arriving, the better for everyone involved, including the cops.
-
Seems strange they would be headed to PA. They were so close to Canada to start with, they would be better off getting out of the country at some unguarded point. And if they are still in NY, by now I'd have thought they would have a car and maybe even someone helping them. Any movement in public would be a really dumb thing to be doing at this point.
-
I thought you could keep your old AR if you registered it. Not that many NY residents did though.

Senate Passes Bill to Allow Moose Hunting in NY

Currently, you can hunt moose in Maine, VT and NH. There have been moose sightings in CT and RI. I'm not sure about Mass. Why does the concept of moose hunting in the ADK region of NY seem so weird to so many folks? Heck, they hunt trophy Elk in PA these days. -
Details? What round are you shooting? .30 Remington AR? What range did you shoot this group? Good shooting and nice rifle. It irks me that anyone calling himself a rifleman would have a problem with AR's for hunting.

I'm nowhere near LI. I don't even reside in NY anymore. Used to live in central NJ when I was younger, but that was near Staten Island. Strange maybe, but not out of the question. NY is currently very concerned about the downturn in hunting license sales. What does it matter who wants to propose a bill to allow more hunting opportunity in the state? -
I have no idea what exactly you are trying to say here. Decision making? Who's decision making? Someone made a decision impacting these people, by taking away their right to make a decision for themselves. That is the core problem with all gun control laws. You cannot control the decisions made by others, but you can be prepared for them. It's each individual's decision to be prepared, or unprepared, for what might happen. Considering the frequency of crazy, random, violent attacks against all types of people these days, I think it prudent to be prepared in case you find yourself in that situation. I will not accept someone imposing their will on me, especially when it puts my life in danger.
