Regulation under the Obama administration has accelerated to alarming rates, adding an enormous drain on the US economy. Regulations imposed by the Obama administration now cost Americans more than $80 billion a year. The findings are part of a new report by The Heritage Foundation, “Red Tape Rising: Six Years of Escalating Regulation Under Obama.” The report details 27 major regulations which were instituted in 2014, bringing the administration’s total to 184 new rules. The Bush administration, in its sixth-year, had only instituted 76 major rules, at a cost of $30.7 billion annually. Although those numbers are themselves high, they are less than half (38.5% to be exact) of Obama’s total. It also warrants noting that the actual cost of rules imposed under Obama may be considerably higher, due to the fact that under this administration agencies have failed to conduct extensive cost analyses. Such failures indicate the severely dysfunctional nature of this administration and its dereliction of fiscal responsibility. As Heritage points out, the need to reform the US’s regulatory system is dire. Regulatory costs are often ignored and layers and layers of economically hindersome rules are added year after year. Obama’s regulatory legacy is a drain on an economy struggling to gain solid footing. Which is no surprise from the administration on pace to amass more debt than all the previous administrations combined. Congress needs desperately to support the REINS Act, which would require congressional approval for new major regulatory rules. A thorough examination should be undertaken when considering new regulations. Questions regarding constitutionality, cost, and benefit need to be seriously considered before they are implemented. Anything else is reckless.

NY's Future Under A Fracking Ban
Mr VJP replied to Mr VJP's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Choose to believe whichever side you want. Believe neither side if you want. But the point of the OP was to point out the terrible economic situation in much of NY State and fracking would improve that situation. If there is absolute proof it would be more harm than good, let's see it. If you can't present that proof, then show me what other plans you propose to help the people suffering under the current depression that has come about due to over regulation of the economy in the first pace. It isn't real noble to think of yourself as a savior of the planet, when it's at the expense of the people trying to live on it. It's just another politically correct ploy by Liberals. They rejoice in the destruction of the economy and capitalism. This is just another feather in their cap, nothing more. Only NY would block an industry already thriving in many other states based on conjecture. It does it in many other areas as well, because it refuses to ever look at any other states that are doing it right. -

Mike, I read all of that prior to commenting. I just boiled it down to a conclusion. Where does any of that counter what I posted? -
More evidence the gun grabbers in NY have no idea how firearms work. If this is legal, and the modified AR's are legal, an AR should also be legal. There is no mechanical difference. The law is absolutely arbitrary! http://www.thetacticalwire.com/story/346650 NYPD Authorizes Registration of ARES SCR Rifles in NYC MELBOURNE, FL ARES Defense Systems, the country's leading manufacturer of innovative, mission-configurable firearms, parts and accessories announces that the NYPD Firearms License Division has completed their review of the ARES SCR™ rifle and have determined that it is not a military firearm (assault weapon) as defined by NYC law, and is accordingly authorized for registration, to own and possess by qualified residents of New York City. - See more at: http://www.thetacticalwire.com/story/346650#sthash.PQ66xsTY.dpuf

In 2013, the report states that federal regulations drained $1.863 trillion from the American economy. On the global scale, that $1.863 trillion price tag would peg U.S. regulatory costs as the world’s tenth ranked economy, more than the entire GDP of Canada ($1.82 trillion) and India ($1.84 trillion). The 2014 report’s findings also include: - $14,974: the price each household pays to cover regulatory costs. - 72: the number of new laws in 2013 which has led to 3,659 new rules, or a new rule every 2.5 hours. - 191: number of “economically significant” rules costing more than $100 million each in annual compliance costs. - 79,311: pages of regulations in the 2013 Federal Register, the fourth highest ever. Atop the list are 81,405 pages in 2010 and 81,247 in 2011, both years under President Obama’s watch. - $10,585: average price per-employee for small business (fewer than 20 employees) to comply with regulatory costs. In comparison, businesses with 500 or more employees pay $7,755 for each worker. http://costofgovernment.org/new-report-reveals-point-trillion-cost-a1817 -

Read some economic reports from towns in upstate NY that need some type of industry to avoid becoming ghost towns in the near future. You guys can talk about all of the "possible" problems with energy production all you want, but you cannot deny the REAL economic problems many Americans are suffering under, most of which have been caused by government over regulation of ALL businesses, in EVERY state. -

Yeah, yeah. yeah....... If anyone ever shows me any conclusive evidence based on facts, I'll change my tune. Until then this country has destroyed jobs and job opportunities in ALL areas of energy exploration and production, from oil wells to gas refineries. But it's OK to let Iran build nuke plants when America CAN"T!! -
HHmmm..... this is not a good sign

Does Party Matter?
Mr VJP replied to mike rossi's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
In the state of NJ Bear hunting was banned under every Democrat Gov for decades, purely for political reasons. They even used the courts to make certain of it. Only when Republican Gov Christie was elected was Bear Hunting allowed. Democrats come into office with an "anti" agenda, and hunting is just one of them. They are allies with animal rights groups, HSUS and PETA. It wouldn't surprise me to find Cuomo had the courts go against him on purpose, just so he could get the sportsman's vote claiming he tried to help us. -

Buzz, check into some real sources instead of propagandist documentaries paid for by eco-facists. You're buying that BS hook line and sinker, just like everyone else who cares more about feeling good about recycling than they would about helping people earn a living and survive a depression, which is what we are in. -
Does Party Matter?
Mr VJP replied to mike rossi's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
It doesn't matter when they are already in the elected offices, as far as the difficulty of working with them on hunting issues. They're all about getting re-elected. But it does matter which is better to vote into office in the first place, as far as how much work will need to be done once they're in there. -
LOL! Seriously, I thought it was another type of Bass I wasn't yet familiar with. I'm not that big of a fisherman, and Large, Smallmouth and Striped are the ones I am most familiar with. I've heard of many other types, but don't think I've ever caught any.

It's a privilege to own a gun? That is absolutely false. A privilege is something granted by government that can be removed by government. A RIGHT is a much stronger legal standard. Authorities can create rules and laws that could make anyone a violator of a law infringing on a right, ex: where your right to own a gun can be removed, after due process has been afforded. But it is still a RIGHT that can only be removed after due process of law. That's exactly the issue with the SAFE Act. It's too easy for peons like Cuomo to violate individual Constitutional rights without proper legal process. But, those violations can be challenged in court as unconstitutional and overruled. A privilege can be removed for absolutely no reason at all, without any amount of due process, because it's something granted without you having any right to it. If gun owners start to think of their gun rights as privileges, they will be less inclined to challenge unconstitutional infringements they are subject to. I believe it is extremely important for all gun owners to understand this. They misunderstand this at their own peril.

You find people suffering economic hardship in NY State to be funny? Why don't you go there and laugh in their faces? I need a good laugh too. -
Doesn't appear to be a new law, just greatly increasing the fines for violations. Should act as more of a deterrent and help to recoup the real cost of enforcement.

This is a baseless racism complaint. If they sue on that issue, they will lose, as Illinois denies almost every request for a carry permit. race has nothing to do with it. Now if the leftists believe blacks should be approved while whites continue to be denied, that is an issue to be concerned about. That would be racism.

Racial profiling isn't a racist thing, no matter what the left wants you to believe. It's a valuable tool for survival.

border patrol checkpoints
Mr VJP replied to ncountry's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Doing her best to pave the way for terrorists to enter the country without any trouble. The government is not your friend. Before going to the border, make sure you have nothing to worry about and comply with the requests of the border patrol. Standing up for your rights only works if you really know the details of those rights. They are all subject to infringement. Any gun owner should know that. -
Any tracks or sign in the area?
