  2. Hi Newbie, just to let you know that wonder lake is a state park and you have to get a permit to hunt there,

you can get the permit at the park office located at the TSP & Rte 301 just west of the exit. Fahnestock  Park is also

huntable get the info from the park superintendent or check it out online, also check out Great Swamp WMA located

in Patterson.Let me know how you make out...Ray

  3. Remember what Pataki did,he caved to the anti's, Clinton assault weapons bill had a sunset clause of 3 years.

We had not once but twice a chance to change this, but thru no fault of ours in trying to get sportsman to get out and vote.

I cant believe the voters in this state are that nieve to vote this chump in again not once but three times

And then have someone talk against the NRA does not make sense,if not for them we could not own a pea shooter

  5. And no where in these pages did I see any one promoting any of the second amendment groups. One even willing to pay for re- certification,NYSRPA,SCOPE,GOA,NRA,NYSCC,all working to protect our gun rights.

These groups all need financial support They are working for you mostly unpaid.Their dues are not excessive. If any one belongs to NYSRPA did you read the message from the president, the answer was right

there.Gun owners and hunters did not turn out and vote.there was no excuse,we could have had Astorino as our governor today instead we re-elected coumo again. This coming November is very important

get out and register to vote if you have not voted in a while, schumer and gilerbrand are not gun friendly. Some Federations and clubs are putting voter registration in local gun shops, stop in and grab one and

fill it out and send it in.

Sportsman we are losing ground every week, there are changes coming that some will not be happy about because of other users slowly but surely creeping in.become informed,go on the DEC web site and see

what is going on,subscribe to NYON ,read the outdoor columns in your local papers and become informed...Ray Merlo

  6.  Biz,If I remember right there is about 7000 acres of AR in the town of Kent.the lands were posted back then. There was signage around the boundary of the AR acres.

This info is in the packet from NYCDEP,there is a lot of public land opened by the NYCDEP...Ray

  7. You guy's are passing up a lot of nice land. Check the the NYCDEP lands in Putnam, get an easy access permit and info on their website, also thousands of acres west of the Hudson, around those big reservoirs, you can use rifle on most of them.

Read the syllabus that you get when you buy your license, lots of info there...Ray

    Friends:

If you have not already done so I ask you and your constituents to take 2 minutes and submit your comments.

The  public Hearings just concluded in Albany on 12/7. We had a good turnout in Albany!

I would encourage individuals to make their comments in favor of Alternative 1 including maintain access through both the Boreas Ponds and the East & West Mcintyre tracts.
Comments must be submitted by 12/30/16 to    [email protected].

We have put a lot of time in to get alternative 1,all the others will shut out 99 percent of us,this is important, send in your comments before the 30th...Ray

  9. What amazes me is that something as important as this only got one reply, still need comments from the so called concerned sportsman, all they have to do is google Boreas Pond and read what is happening.there are thousands of acres involved. We have to get them classified wild forest not forever wild.Only 1 percent of the people will get to use these lands, the older generation and the handicapped will be shut out...Ray

ECO shot in Town of Gallatin, Columbia County (DEC Region 4); hospitalized in Poughkeepsie
Published reports say a New York State environmental conservation officer is hospitalized with a gunshot wound suffered while investigating reports of illegal hunting in the Town of Gallatin (Columbia County) on Tuesday evening.

The Department of Environmental Conservation says two of its enforcement officers were checking out reports of possible illegal hunting around 5 p.m. Tuesday. Gallatin is about 15 miles north of Pine Plains (Dutchess County).

Officers and Investigators from Columbia County (Region 4) and Dutchess County (Region 3) were on the scene.

One of the two ECOs investigating the possible illegal activity was shot in the upper leg or hip during the course of his investigation. The officer underwent surgery at MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie and is listed in stable condition.

WNYT-TV reports the man who shot the officer was charged Tuesday night with assault. He's being held in Columbia County jail without bail. The hunter - while apparently properly licensed - was hunting after legal shooting hours.

The New York State Conservation Council, Inc., hopes for a speedy recovery for the wounded officer. We recognize the danger our ECOs place themselves in each and every time they respond to an even seemingly routine call. We are confident that there will be a thorough investigation and that all appropriate charges will be applied.

Subject: Sportsmen need to show up. Take Action

Directors,    www.accessadk.com gives the information.  The meeting schedule is posted below.  We need all of you to go to your contacts and get more people to attend these meetings.  Give testimony if they like, I can give you information or just sit in the Audience.  The first meeting was in Ray Brook and the green groups show up in numbers to the point they chartered a bus from Albany.  The oral presentations of our group Access the Adirondacks were well done we just need to put more people in the audience.

Dates, locations and times of the public hearings are:
    • 11/9 - APA - 7:00 pm
1133 NYS Route 86, Ray Brook
    • 11/14 - Northville Central School - 6:00 pm
      131 S. Third Street, Northville
    • 11/16 - Newcomb Central School - 7:00 pm
      5535 NYS Route 28N, Newcomb
    • 11/21 - Schroon Lake Central School - 7:00 pm
      1125 Route 9, Schrool Lake
    • 11/28 - RIT - 7:00 pm
Golisano Institute for Sustainability in Sustainability Hall, Rochester
    • 11/29 - St. Lawrence County Human Service Center - 6:00 pm

3020 Seven Lakes Drive, Tomkins Cove
    • 12/7 - NYSDEC - 2:00 pm

If the every day man  / women can elect a president by simply showing up and voting, just think what the everyday sportsmen can do if we just show up.  Lets get out there and see who we can get to attend.
