  1. Here are a few from the last pickup. If you zoom in you can see at least 1 or 2 are bucks, pretty neat.
  2. http://www.nyserda.org/programs/West_Valley/hunting.asp The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) sponsers an annual public deer hunting program at the Western New York Nuclear Service Center (WNYNSC) in the town of Ashford beginning each fall. Approximately 2,000 acres of the 3,340-acre facility are opened up for the entire Archery season and seven days during Regular season. Scouting is available for two days prior to Archery season as well. NYSERDA's program is open to anyone with a valid New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Big Game or Sportsman License for that year, and allows up to 70 hunters (10 hunters per area) to hunt each scheduled day. Preapproval to hunt in Archery season is mandatory, with each registered bow hunter being issued a valid NYSERDA wallet ID card to hunt any day of the season. Archery hunting assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis and check-in/out for Archery will be at the WVDP main gatehouse. During the Regular season, you may preregister and select one hunting assignment of your choice; walk-ins will be allowed, subject to availability. Hunting with a rifle is prohibited (i.e., shotguns only). Application packets for the 2010-2011 season will be available in early September 2010. A link will be provided at that time on this page to print the 2010 application. Or, you can pick one up in the drop box at NYSERDA's offices and at the main gate of the WVDP. Interested hunters are encouraged to call the Deer Hunting Information Line (942-9960 ext.4990) throughout the year, to get information on the program, and to request an application. Completed applications should be mailed to the NYSERDA Deer Hunting Program, 9030-B Route 219, West Valley, New York 14171-9799, attention Alita Dueringer, or deposited in NYSERDA's drop box, at the same address. To inquire about additional deer management permits for use at the WNYNSC, contact the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Please note that the site is located in Wildlife Management Unit 9M.
  3. Cool, I'd love to see a video.
  4. Here are some more pics of it after I got all the oxidation off. It was sitting outside for years unused.
  5. Any suggestions on some good fishing area's near Lake Huntington? We just got some property up there and I will be spending a lot of time up there over the next few years. I do not know the area that well, as I hunted most of my life in Pine Bush.
  6. Viper Viper Elite 4000 Winch Install on Kawasaki Brute Force 750: A little plastic removal, she fit in like a glove. The guys @ Moto never did it under the seat for these new / larger contactors... I measured the size and figured it would fit with the seat on, it does Kent has suggested mounding it anywhere high and dry. I ordered the pouch for the front fender to keep my tool bag in since I took up that whole space (and then some). The only thing that would be cool is some kind of bracket to hold the contactor, but the zip ties worked out OK for now, maybe I'll fabricate something down the road. I trimmed the wires to get rid of the excess as well, It would be better if the kit came terminated on one side only. But I understand why they term both ends because some people just don't want to do it. A suggestion would be to include some extra 8 gauge terms for the wire so it can be customized. I tested it and everything works. As per Moto they said to install the plastic guard you should unwind the whole cord, put it on, then wind it back up. I did not have a chance to do that yet. Before cutting... After Cutting.... Contactor install...
  7. Figured I'd post this here too, I picked up a Kawasaki Brute Force 750 a few weeks ago... I went on the popular Mud In My Blood forums and they have a crap load of great posts on how to fix common issues. I did the bus fix last night thanks to these forums, I would have never known this was an issue. I wasn't have any problems, but I wanted to do the fix regardless. Pictures below. Anyways, I wanted to know if there was anything else I should check and fix since I have plenty of time to do things till she gets to see the woods. Besides changing Oil, Air Filter, Plugs, front / rear gear oil. What else should I do? Its a 2005 750 w/32 hrs and about 165 miles (just picked it up Saturday) This is after gave it a good cleaning / detail. Bus Fix Solder / Tape All done...
  8. Great idea's... Should I do Fishing / Camping or make the two different ones? I don't want to dilute the site into to many categories, I think I might even nix a few I have already. What are your thoughts?
  9. For whatever reason my buckbarn post was deleted... Odd isn't it? I had to repost it in that same thread. Don't think I violated their terms or anything. Settlers maybe you can reply to my post on there so they know its not some spam or something.
  10. Any suggestions for rifle ranges on Long Island? I know there is Calverton and then there is Brookhaven Rifle Range... http://www.longislandshootingrange.com/ and http://www.calshoot.com/ Which one is better? From what I read the Brookhaven one is nicer... I'll be heading out there next weekend to sight in a 30-06.
  11. Still a little confused on if the DMP is included, I am pretty sure it is.
  12. My brother, father and I just got a few acres upstate in Lake Huntington, and we are planning on doing one or two fields. I'd like to get that attachment for the ATV that will turn up the ground, and then I'd like to plant something that is friendly to the soil in NY. In addition, I need something that is low maintenance because it will be way back in the woods. Any suggestions? Clover perhaps?
  13. Did anyone get a chance to take advantage of the Lifetime Hunting License before the price increase? I jumped on it last year, it made sense for me since I have at least 30+ years of hunting in me. It was a big investment, however this year I don't have to spend any $. The wife was not happy, but whatever!
  14. I really need to get to the bow range and get dead on, I plan on spending a lot of time there this summer. Its right around the block too.
  15. Anyone build their own stands or use a pre-made one? I'm more for the building your own because it allows you to really customize it to your needs. And they are just more comfortable. You just need to be careful when building them to allow movement and check them frequently for any loose boards / steps / railings. I've been using band iron to allow for some flex in the floor boards rather then nailing them directly to the tree. Its been working pretty well.
  16. Did some ATV riding up at my Uncles place in Walton this weekend. Was a blast, its beautiful up there...
  17. Any suggestions on places to promote the site? or If you can please go ahead an let people know and promote it. Thanks!
  18. Went upstate this weekend, was sighting in my old man's new 30-06. Really nice out, got to take the ATV's out for a ride.
  19. Trying to spread the word around.
  20. Its a great bow. I am not a great shot however, but I do have a nice range about a mile away, and plan on doing a crap load of shooting this year to get myself into bow hunting shape. I love that time of year, not to cold, quite out, deer are not spooked. Its really a great time.
  21. My brother and the old man found that spot... Should have a whole card load of pics soon to upload, its been sitting for about a month now. Hopefully get a bear on there this time.
  22. Here is the bow I got last year, its a PSE Brute.
  23. I'm heading up to my property tomorrow, and I'm sure I'll jump some deer. I'm getting excited already for this years season, and we are a solid 5 months away (till bow).
