And since you asked, no I don’t think crossbow inclusion will have any significant impact on the number of mature bucks in NY. Just my opinion.

Storm just so you know, both gjs4 and phade (and a few others on this thread advocating a shorter gun season) are pretty darn good at knocking down big bucks. I realize you may not have the history on this site to know that. You may disagree with their position on season length but don’t assume they can’t get it done in either a shorter or longer season. Just an FYI.

Talk about absurd assumptions. I paid good money for my land and i pay the taxes and now I should open it up to everyone to prove I don’t bait. Cmon. Get real. Losing credibility real quick. There are literally thousands of acres of public land in ny. The argument that access is a problem is without merit. Sure hunters may want to hunt closer to home or more deer dense property but there is public access to plenty of acres where Deer are killed every year. Put the work in to hunt public or put the work in to buy or lease your own private. But stop complaining that you don’t get the benefits of prime private for free. And Merry Christmas.

Again I want to decide who has permission to hunt my land. Not interested in deferring that to others. But I also bought land specifically to hunt. Maybe other land owners have a different view. My one neighbor seems to let anyone that asks hunt there.

Any landowner that would be so inclined to voluntarily participate in such a program for a tax break could also lease their land now and still maintain control over who is hunting there. Not relying on the state to vet those hunting on your land and lease covers taxes or part of them. I know I would not be interested in letting just anyone on my land for reasons mentioned by curmudgeon.

I don’t plan on making money on them but they will hold value better than a compound for sure. Even 10yr old black widows are still going for $500-600. Buying used really limits any losses.

It’s the trad bows that get me. I only own one compound and rarely shoot it.

Belo shoot the elites at traditions. Not a fan of the owner but they have them in stock. Obsession has all the good things like elite (crazy smooth and solid back wall) with better speed and grip in my opinion. Only owned one Matthews (helium) and the valley was not great. Or you can frustrate yourself with a single string? It’s a fun roller coaster. Lol
